Christian Prayer thread for late Autumn - keep praising when the leaves are falling and it isn't Christmas

A week or so ago there was a post in the prayer thread from TinkerbellesMum which I quote here in full because I think she has something important to say:

"I don't normally post in this section or this thread, but I wanted to share something that my sister's Pastor said a few months ago at a Dedication because on a regular basis I'm logging into MN and seeing it come to truth again and again.

He said that the devil has started an attack on children.

If you look through this year you will see so many children have died in really horrible circumstances, we've not seen anything like this happening before.

Please when you pray can you include our children in general, ask God for His protection over our own, each others' and the unknown child. Ask for Him to send His angels to fight against this attack."

We've only got to remember Baby P to know that terrible things are happening and that the only weapon we have against the forces of darkness is prayer. That is a strong weapon and a weapon that will bring results for the safety and security of our own children but also as TM says "the unknown child".
So can I encourage you all to praise God for our children and to set side a few moments to ask His protection on them, but also to pray protection over the millions of children which don't have the quality of life that they should have.

We then pray for our unborn children:- Swaliswan's, Boffinmum's and of course Tinkerbellesmum's own baby. Also for the other children in those families.

We remember those with health problems:
Belgianbun's sister recovering from an operation. OJ who goes to hospital on Monday to have a lump investigation - please God, no more trouble.
Zipadisuzy's dh who fell off a ladder and has cracked ribs and for Suzy who is picking up his workload.
NSFN struggling with depression, praying that this will not continue all winter.
And we give thanks for M44's ds2 who is on the mend but pray for dd1 who is still struggling with a broken arm.

We pray for those who are struggling with various issues:- CaptainDippy, Peachy, FAQ (praying that her babysitting problems can be resolved to enable her to continue as church organist) and CaptainCaveman.

And so to all of us who are part of this small community and who will always pray for one another:- MaryBS (continued prayer for BIL and MIL), Amber, Jentlydoesit (good news at the eye hospital) Myjobismum (good news about ds's behaviour at preschool), NowWeAreFour (continued prayer as requested for her nanny, PandaG and NotQuiteGrownUp (will she ever?)
Also we remember RevJustabout in her work with the Reluctant Worshippers.
And so we come before our Heavenly Father Who hears all our prayers and answers them in His own way. Thanks be to God

What antivirus do you use Sooz?

Am at home today with a sick boy who is suddenly feeling better...

No real news on FIL, he's being moved out of ITU, I suspect because they have someone who needs it more. They have suggested he goes home for 2 weeks, so he can get stronger so they can operate. He has refused tho - MIL not fit enough to look after an invalid! He wants the op as soon as he is fit.

MaryBeWaiting · 15/12/2008 17:47

FIL is having his op now. He has a less than 50:50 chance. But if he hadn't had the op, he'd be dead by the end of the week. Please pray

Praying Mary xxx

Milliways · 15/12/2008 19:36

Praying for you too Mary.

Update on DH & jobhunting: Not good After 5 interviews for 1 job he was rejected and is feeling low.

We also wrote our car off (awaiting Insurance decision but likely) following a skid into a ditch on icy road last week - Praise that DH & DD were physically unscathed though, just very shaken.

MerryChristmasPANDAGHappy09 · 15/12/2008 22:17

continuing to pray Mary - and for you and DH Milliways.

MaryBeWaiting · 16/12/2008 08:14

Praying for DH and for you all - I do so hope he finds some something suitable asap. xx Hope car stuff doesn't take too long too - Praise God your DH and DD weren't hurt though, that is definitely the main thing, eh!!!? xx

Poor you Mary Hope you are feeling better soon. Any more news on FIL???

Praying for DS and his horrid cough MJIM. xx

MaryBeWaiting · 16/12/2008 16:24

Still feel rough... no real news on FIL. They are keeping him sedated, I presume in a bid to aid the recovery. No news as to his chances. MIL had a doctor's appointment today. She needs a heart valve replacement operation (in the next 3-4 months), so a bit all round!

DH will be going back there later. He's just come in and gone out again, but hopefully he can tell me more.

Thats really lovely MJIM!

MerryChristmasPANDAGHappy09 · 16/12/2008 19:56

hope you are soon starting to feel better Mary, and please keep us informed re FIL.

my tooth is ok now, after a drill and fill!

JentlyDoesIt · 16/12/2008 20:09

Praying for PIL Mary but especially FIL and his recovery.

MJIM - my DS has exactly the same cough, he has gone to bed tonight dosed up on Calpol and cough medicine. He starts coughing in the night and just can't stop

Please could you keep my poor DD in your thoughts? She has a chest infection, poor little mite. She has had a temp all day and is now on anti b's with calpol (should have shares in it). Had an awful night last night, with her just in her cot, crying and moaning, she was so miserable, broke my heart. She's gone to bed ok tonight so lots of prayers that she stays asleep. I'm off to bed soon to try and catch up...

Much love and prayers to all.

Jently - Prayers for our little ones, mine have had bad coughs and colds for a wile now aswell, dd coughed so much last night she was sick, ds's high temperatures! if I let the dc stay off school every time they were ill they would never be at school between the months of Oct through to April

On the other hand they are soooooo excited atm, we are having a carol sing song tonight with family,(at home) I have dusted mi keyboard off and got mi carol book out, am gargling in preparation and flexing my fingers on the ready.

MaryBeWaiting · 17/12/2008 14:53

No more news on FIL, although he had a slightly raised temperature last night. He is still being kept under sedation.

Praying for all those with sick little ones, may they be fit and raring to go at 3:30am on Our Lord's birthday

MaryBeWaiting · 17/12/2008 14:53

Meant to say Sooz, what a LOVELY thing to do, your own Carol sing song!
