Christian Prayer thread for late Autumn - keep praising when the leaves are falling and it isn't Christmas

A week or so ago there was a post in the prayer thread from TinkerbellesMum which I quote here in full because I think she has something important to say:

"I don't normally post in this section or this thread, but I wanted to share something that my sister's Pastor said a few months ago at a Dedication because on a regular basis I'm logging into MN and seeing it come to truth again and again.

He said that the devil has started an attack on children.

If you look through this year you will see so many children have died in really horrible circumstances, we've not seen anything like this happening before.

Please when you pray can you include our children in general, ask God for His protection over our own, each others' and the unknown child. Ask for Him to send His angels to fight against this attack."

We've only got to remember Baby P to know that terrible things are happening and that the only weapon we have against the forces of darkness is prayer. That is a strong weapon and a weapon that will bring results for the safety and security of our own children but also as TM says "the unknown child".
So can I encourage you all to praise God for our children and to set side a few moments to ask His protection on them, but also to pray protection over the millions of children which don't have the quality of life that they should have.

We then pray for our unborn children:- Swaliswan's, Boffinmum's and of course Tinkerbellesmum's own baby. Also for the other children in those families.

We remember those with health problems:
Belgianbun's sister recovering from an operation. OJ who goes to hospital on Monday to have a lump investigation - please God, no more trouble.
Zipadisuzy's dh who fell off a ladder and has cracked ribs and for Suzy who is picking up his workload.
NSFN struggling with depression, praying that this will not continue all winter.
And we give thanks for M44's ds2 who is on the mend but pray for dd1 who is still struggling with a broken arm.

We pray for those who are struggling with various issues:- CaptainDippy, Peachy, FAQ (praying that her babysitting problems can be resolved to enable her to continue as church organist) and CaptainCaveman.

And so to all of us who are part of this small community and who will always pray for one another:- MaryBS (continued prayer for BIL and MIL), Amber, Jentlydoesit (good news at the eye hospital) Myjobismum (good news about ds's behaviour at preschool), NowWeAreFour (continued prayer as requested for her nanny, PandaG and NotQuiteGrownUp (will she ever?)
Also we remember RevJustabout in her work with the Reluctant Worshippers.
And so we come before our Heavenly Father Who hears all our prayers and answers them in His own way. Thanks be to God

Also, if you wouldn't mind praying that my next client doesn't give birth on Christmas day. Thank you. First prayer the priority though.

MaryBeWaiting · 13/12/2008 07:40

Praying Mars and Panda....

No news this morning as yet, on FIL. Am off to immigration centre in 1 hour. Please pray nothing happens while I'm there as it'll cause complications!

Good morning all.

Wall-E is wonderful CD!

Ouch Panda. You can buy temporary fillings from most pharmasists - like chewinggum which hardens over the broken tooth. It might help a little? Prayers for a pain free weekend for you.

Prayers for your work this morning at the immigration centre Mary, and for FIL/DH

God bless all.

MaryBeWaiting · 13/12/2008 11:24

MaryBeWaiting · 13/12/2008 19:22

Hi CD, glad to hear you had such a good time!

Hope your toothache is bearable Panda...

We popped in the Cathedral this PM, only to find a Christingle service was due to start in 15 mins! So we stopped for it, and it was really lovely (even though it had 2 REALLY CHEESY Christingle hymns! Of the stilton variety of cheese... ).

I saw this saying and thought it was brilliant:

"Sometimes God calms the storm. Sometimes He lets the storm rage and calms His child"

Fantastic, isn't it?

mufti · 14/12/2008 07:51

good one MARY
my mum gave me a similar one the other day

dont tell GOD how big your storm is, tell the storm how big your GOD IS
are you and ds better?
happy sunday to all

amber32002 · 14/12/2008 09:44

I think the saying about God and the storm is brilliant, Mary .

Prayers for everyone today. We were all going to the rugby to watch son's team play, but it's waterlogged so the lads can't play and we don't have to stand in the freezing cold mud watching them (hooray!)( )

CaptainDippy · 14/12/2008 15:25

Popping by quickly - I am shattered - Love and Prayers to all. xx

MaryBeWaiting · 14/12/2008 17:24

We had this worship song at church today. It was really lovely! Not many of the congo sang it though... obviously too new-fangled!

How is everyone? I'm tired and a bit grumpy!

DutchOma · 14/12/2008 17:39

We've had that for ages, it's nicer than a lot of them

Mary and mufti - lovely sayings

Amber - hello and good-oh for not having to stand by the pitch rugby is good but I'm a fair weather supporter!

MJIM - how did DS do with all the sitting in church - hope he sleeps better soon for you. Naomi gets more yummy

Prayers for your ladies Marsy.

Hello to everyone else. Sleep prayers needed here too please - DD is being a monkey about going back to sleep if she wakes in the night for a bottle - I was up from 1 - 3 am this morning . I feel a few days of sleep training coming on, which is a shame because she did do a month of sleeping through til last weekend...

JentlyDoesIt · 14/12/2008 19:45

Mary - so sorry, many prayers for FIL and the family although at your SIL.

notsofarnow · 14/12/2008 20:03

hi all thanks for all your prayers. dd is doing ok burt still has this pain under her right rib. She was one of 16 who graduated from a programme that the SA have just started running its a 13 wk coarse looking at being evangelists in 21st centuary britain. She has done 3 residential w/e, read a number of books had a mentor who she has met with on a regular basis and has had to complete book reviews and a journal. It was a lovely evening with everyone of the youngsters giving thier testimony.

have read all your prayers and am praying honest - just busy, busy, busy.

NoroomattheCaveman · 14/12/2008 20:59

hello! All well just flying by to make the thread appear on my list again.

Going to catch up properly tomorrow

Please can I ask you pray for Peter, one of our church wardens, he was found unconscious at home this morning. Our vicar went with him to hospital as Peter has no family locally. He really is a lovely chap. Praying for God's healing for him.

CaptainDippy · 14/12/2008 23:52

Praying for Peter CC and for sleep JDI. Praying recovery is quick nsfn, frustrating for her. xx

Absolute priceless classic from DD2 (3.5 yrs) today .....

"I can't go to church dressed as a Pirate. I might kill someone."

(To put in context, oldest 2 decided to do "dressing up" for church today - DD1 was a nurse and DD2 had the 'Pirate dilemma' ... soon solved by leaving the sword at home )

Notquitegrownup · 15/12/2008 07:22

Good morning all. Flying by early, as this week looks as if it might be a bit hectic. I'll be lurking and praying, if not posting much.

What a super course your daughter did NSFN. Well done to her for completing it all - and prayers that she will be able to build on it and that God will guide her onto the next step.

Prayers for Peter and for dd, JDI. Hmmm. Sleep. I like sleep!

Amen to that Mary, and Mufti. I'm going to print those out and put them somewhere to see regularly.

And now, breakfast . . .!

God bless all.

ZipadiSuzy · 15/12/2008 10:12
