Christian Prayer thread for late Autumn - keep praising when the leaves are falling and it isn't Christmas

A week or so ago there was a post in the prayer thread from TinkerbellesMum which I quote here in full because I think she has something important to say:

"I don't normally post in this section or this thread, but I wanted to share something that my sister's Pastor said a few months ago at a Dedication because on a regular basis I'm logging into MN and seeing it come to truth again and again.

He said that the devil has started an attack on children.

If you look through this year you will see so many children have died in really horrible circumstances, we've not seen anything like this happening before.

Please when you pray can you include our children in general, ask God for His protection over our own, each others' and the unknown child. Ask for Him to send His angels to fight against this attack."

We've only got to remember Baby P to know that terrible things are happening and that the only weapon we have against the forces of darkness is prayer. That is a strong weapon and a weapon that will bring results for the safety and security of our own children but also as TM says "the unknown child".
So can I encourage you all to praise God for our children and to set side a few moments to ask His protection on them, but also to pray protection over the millions of children which don't have the quality of life that they should have.

We then pray for our unborn children:- Swaliswan's, Boffinmum's and of course Tinkerbellesmum's own baby. Also for the other children in those families.

We remember those with health problems:
Belgianbun's sister recovering from an operation. OJ who goes to hospital on Monday to have a lump investigation - please God, no more trouble.
Zipadisuzy's dh who fell off a ladder and has cracked ribs and for Suzy who is picking up his workload.
NSFN struggling with depression, praying that this will not continue all winter.
And we give thanks for M44's ds2 who is on the mend but pray for dd1 who is still struggling with a broken arm.

We pray for those who are struggling with various issues:- CaptainDippy, Peachy, FAQ (praying that her babysitting problems can be resolved to enable her to continue as church organist) and CaptainCaveman.

And so to all of us who are part of this small community and who will always pray for one another:- MaryBS (continued prayer for BIL and MIL), Amber, Jentlydoesit (good news at the eye hospital) Myjobismum (good news about ds's behaviour at preschool), NowWeAreFour (continued prayer as requested for her nanny, PandaG and NotQuiteGrownUp (will she ever?)
Also we remember RevJustabout in her work with the Reluctant Worshippers.
And so we come before our Heavenly Father Who hears all our prayers and answers them in His own way. Thanks be to God

We got a call last night to say FIL's condition had deteriorated. His blood pressure dropped, his kidneys failed (although they now seem to be working a little again). He has an infection on his lungs, which may turn to pneumonia. He wasn't well enough for the endoscopy. He is having 1-1 nursing, as they don't have a high dependency bed free. This morning we were told he had a "fair" night.

MerryChristmasPANDAGHappy09 · 11/12/2008 08:16

praying for your family Mary, especially FIL and DH

and prayers for everyone else I do nothave time to mention by name.

thanks for saying what I said would be God inspired - was difficult to tread the line between true to my faith, and being appropriate in a multi faith setting. I asked DS (nearly 9) to pray for me just before I spoke. It seemed to go ok and I had some positive feedback - I had a plan of what I was going to say but went off in a different track - so am sure God planted those ideas just as I needed them.

MaryBeWaiting · 11/12/2008 09:36

FIL is now in ITU and has pneumonia. He is also coughing up blood again. Please keep praying

notsofarnow · 11/12/2008 16:25

oh mary never rains for you either does it.

dd is sore and still has pain under her ribs, shich was confusing them in the first place, seems they thought she had appendix trouble. Thankyou all for your prayers. While she was in theatre I just felt total peace that this would be sorted and God was in control.

I'm ready for bed again now but tea to sort for dc. Dd and I went to Rowleys pantry today for Christmas dinner it was gorgeous, It is a cafe run by people with learning disabilities - tell you what the people who work with them have patients of saints.

prayers for everyone else too.

amber32002 · 11/12/2008 16:25

Praying hard, Mary, for your FIL
and praying for your DS too, MJIM...

Have gotten into even more trouble re that meeting - could do with prayers that I will know when to Shut Up and what to actually say.

MaryBeWaiting · 11/12/2008 17:32

Its not looking very good for my FIL. If this is the end, pray that DH gets to see his dad before he dies. SIL and MIL have been removed from ITU while they "work on FIL".

MerryChristmasPANDAGHappy09 · 11/12/2008 19:18

oh mary, so sorry to hear that. continuing to pray.

amber - praying for God's wisdom to overrule.

MaryBeWaiting · 11/12/2008 20:18

Update on FIL. DOPEY DOPEY SIL heard the Drs talking about someone in cardiac arrest, and because they weren't allowed to see FIL in ITU (as he was having tubes put in), she ASSUMED it was FIL. So she phoned everyone and panicked them. SIL and DH got there, found her outside ITU STILL thinking this, only to find it was another patient. They go in to see FIL, who is sitting up in bed, and able to talk. ARGH!!! Thank God, but please pray for whoever it was in arrest as well as for FIL ...

I said to DH about coming on here to update you all, and he said "well you can still all pray for him please". That's the first time I've EVER heard him ask for prayer....

Prayers continuing...

Notquitegrownup · 12/12/2008 09:25

Good morning

Mary . How great that God can use this difficult situation to bring your dh a little closer to him.

Praying Amber. (I'll add myself in that prayer too. It's a real challenge to get my tongue under control and not to rabbit away) By the way, there was a fascinating interview on Tuesday on Radio 4 with an Australian writer who described herself as autistic, and who was talking about the challenges she faces (and about the joy of email/internet communication for her).

NSFN at your sense of peace in the hospital. What a good job you had already been signed off work again and are therefore at hand to look after dd, without having to stress about finding the time.

Prayers for your son MJIM, and for all those who are not around at the moment. Is anyone in touch with Wiegiemum (sp?)? PandaG, how is Worzella these days?

God bless all x

mufti · 12/12/2008 10:05

MaryBeWaiting · 12/12/2008 10:17

Another wave here. DS and I are under the weather, so are staying at home today...

mufti · 12/12/2008 10:21

hope you both feel better after a day in the warm MARY, WE ARE OFF ON THE BUS SOON TO HAVE lunch with dh

MaryBeWaiting · 12/12/2008 11:30

CD at hospital - P has a cyst on her eardrum. Prayers for them both please...

DutchOma · 12/12/2008 11:41

That sounds so painful for poor P., hope they will be able to sort something out for her.
NQGU, I heard that interview too, about the Australian lady with autism. Amber is telling me lots of things that I find very helpful in understanding autism and all the variations it has, she is brilliant at explaining.

MaryBeWaiting · 12/12/2008 11:43

Notquitegrownup · 12/12/2008 11:51

Twins were so georgeous at their nativity play, the headmaster singled dd out in front of everybody as a 'star in the making' I was soooooo proud, this morning their school have taken them to see father christmas as a treat (only 8 in their class) they were sooooo cute. makes me all warm and gooey!

Praise God the Inland Revenue are sending us a big chq for owed monies! YIPEEEEEEEEE! I can now buy my children a decent enough christmas present! Thank you God!

MaryBeWaiting · 12/12/2008 13:57

Great Nooz Sooz!

Had a text from CD to say nothing massively wrong, so THANK GOD for that!

MaryBeWaiting · 12/12/2008 15:44

FIL's stomach has been pushed up into his chest cavity - hence all the problems. He's too old to operate on, so am now praying it can go back "naturally"...

CaptainDippy · 12/12/2008 17:29

Boo! Thank you for your prayers today guys P seems much more back to her old selftoday, although still quite screamy and tired at times. I was just sooo relieved the "mass" on her eardrum amounted to nothing much. They just said to keep an eye on her and not to worry - phew!

How's DD today nsfn?

Continuing to pray for FIL Mary. xx
