Bloody hell. of course you feel violated, because you have been. This self centred self-publicist arsehole seems not to realise you're an actual person of at least equal worth to himself, does he? Blame an under 18 yo girl rather than take responsibility for his own actions.... bloody hell, I hope someone who sees his talk challenges him on his behaviour then and now.

To answer a pp's question. He's CEO of the organisation that he works for, although it is a charity so he is presumably answerable to the board of trustees. I knew several of them when I was a Christian and they still know my family. I feel sick thinking that they will have watched this and heard what he's said about me.

I'm torn between contacting the organisation who have hosted this talk and asking them to take it down and not wanting him to know that I'm upset by it. And I feel so, so sorry for his wife and children that he's so sick and depraved. He even says that he still watches porn now, but it's all ok because he's not controlled by it and he says sorry to God.

Unbeliever said it was a TED-type talk so that it why I referred to it as "teaching". I should perhaps have put it in speech marks?

I've had some psychotherapy previously with a fabulous therapist but unfortunately the days she practises don't work for me at the moment. But maybe I'll have to sort something out if I'm still struggling to process it in a week or two. Talking on here has really helped 🙏

I am pretty sure I know exactly who you are talking about.

I've not watched the talk as I didn't want to give him a viewing number.

I thought his behaviour was quite strange when he was a youth worker, particularly towards young women.
Based on what has happened at Soul Survivor, the trustees of the charity he set up will be his mates.

I recon it he will be much less regulated than Mike P as there is no CoE involved.
I've been concerned about this as he is also being given space at a church which will increase the reach he has.

Oh, the pats on the back he will get for being so vulnerable. Such an inspiring talk for men trapped in porn addiction and what a testament to God’s healing power and don’t forget the spiritual battle is real - reference dark shadow….just wait for the church/men’s tour and book.

And all the time he is a manipulative abuser who blames his character flaws on a minor and maximises it for a platform and at some point profit. It is utterly sickening.

While counselling might be helpful …I do wonder what action against him you can take because surely it can’t be allowed for someone to make up stories about a person and put them out in the public domain?

I'm really struggling this morning. I was awake at 4am with his words playing on a loop in my head and I just feel so sick all the time. And I'm so angry with myself for letting him affect me like this.

Very much appreciate all the support. I've made contact with "God Loves Women" who has been great.

I'm wary of opening a can of worms with this individual whom I have had no contact with for many years but I also don't think I can let this go.

Interesting. This popped up on my phone. Andy croft now distancing himself from MP. And sort of acknowledging wrongdoing but also claiming he knew no better.

In whcih case, as we've said before, the whole thing of going into the system as a teen and staying within one church/world needs to be challenged!

@Bornagainunbeliever I’m sorry that you’ve had to listen to this man’s narcissistic justifications. That is appalling. You were a minor. Could you or would you consider speaking to someone in the legal sphere? A solicitor or perhaps a safeguarding professional. So glad you have made contact with God Loves Women. How any platform can put this kind of content up and not think ‘Hang on a minute…’ is beyond me…

Interested to see the news regarding Andy Croft. He was clearly very, very entangled but perhaps he is trying to take some responsibility.

To be honest, when I first watched a Soul Survivor video (not knowing who anyone was) it did strike me that Andy Croft was very much of the athletic physical ‘type’ of young man that was described as being sought out by Pilivachi. Plus the several frames showcasing him (and his well-fitting teeshirt) speaking on stage…I wonder who made the final editorial approval of that video? Perhaps there is something behind his sentence about his own experiences. Oh god it’s all grim.
