Good morning sisters. Have any of you read the book 'the secret'

YashmisCrone · 11/04/2020 10:28

Thank you for your kind words about the photos sisters, it’s a lovely way to be able to share energy Smile

speakout you always paint such beautiful images with your words, I can almost smell the petrichor, hear the sound of the owl, such comforting magic they have.

Kate, for me it’s a continuation of spring equinox energy, a celebration of the season. Like speakout I enjoy the symbolism of new life and growth and that cake that Blanktimes shared looks delicious! Another opportunity to tune into and celebrate the turn of the wheel of the year.

Thank you for sharing that gravity glue link again Blanktimes, lovely to revisit. I might have a go myself next time I’m down there.

Roses I didn’t have a clue about where to start with veg either, I’ve mostly grown things in pots on the patio and particularly enjoyed growing things from seeds of veg I have in the fridge. I grew tomatoes and peppers this way last year, helped by lots of YouTube videos like this one!

It’s given me the confidence to try a few other things this year so we’ll see how that goes. I can’t get too hung up on the correct way to do things, preferring to learn by trying things. I’d recommend giving it a go, there’s such joy in the new shoots of life.

Tigerseye I haven’t read it but am aware of the concept it presents. Loosely speaking I think it’s a common theme that is present in many belief systems. I do think that if we can generate a certain energy then we’ll be more open to receive similar. I think spell work works best when we can get ourselves into a place of already believing we have the thing we’re trying to attract. I think our mindset is our most powerful magical tool.

Just wanted to share this, a useful reminder about balance I thought:

^In times of crisis, we must choose to lean into what we love, into what lights up our hearts and feeds our soul.
To remember and unearth our curious nature, the learning mind and the listening heart. To awaken our childlike interests that can feed our adult bodies.
I do not mean that we deny or ignore what is edgy or painful. But instead strike a balance, one that strengthens us. It is a way of reminding our bones that life, this earth and our bodies are also beautiful, touching and magnificent.
That there is a wealth of warm light that can fill your heart with smiles and beauty.
Strengthen and nourish yourself, pull what you love, what instrests you, what lifts you up, nearer and nearer to you, like a blanket of wild medicine, that can give you roots and hold you through the storm.

Yashmis
Thank you for sharing those words. I've had a challenging week, I'm tired and struggling a bit today, reading that really helped ❤️

speakout · 11/04/2020 14:18

I am basking in the warm words in this magical kitchen.

Another glorious spring day, a light breeze, I have a load of laundry dancing in the wind.
Rose incense burning and all my windows and doors open to welcome in the spring energy.
I hope everyone is catching some magic today.

Elphame · 11/04/2020 14:28

Lovely day here too.

I've been bagging up dried herbs and attacking the moss in my courtyard with bleach water. Once it's gone I can scrub the flagstones and get rid of the leaf mould and soil that it grows on ( I did say it was long neglected!).

I also watched a video on youtube about making charm bags and as a result felt a strong need to go and prune my heather Grin

speakout · 12/04/2020 07:38

Elphame sounds a therapeutic day.
I was weeding between paving stones today, these are often not the fun gardening tsaks like planting, but very satisfying once finished.
I may need to start a compost heap, we normally have a council collection for garden waste- the council compost it and use the compost - bt that has stopped for the forseeable future. Our pubic amenity sites are closed too.
But no matter- it will be a good thing to do.

I have just had a relaxing morning bath- I'm the only one awake, done my yoga session, and had a rosehip oil facial- I treated myself to a bottle this week.
So goddess work done, I am about to finish off a batch of smudge sprays- I have a pile of work to do.
OH is off work this weekend and he loves cooking, so it's great not to have that burden.

Birdsong is so loud lately-anyone else noticed? I know it is spring, but I can't remember such a cacophony and variety, and a reminder that we are not the only ones who need space on this planet.

I will light my 8am candle, and send Ostara blessings.

Spent the morning here making cakes and talking to my adult DC via web chat software.

Nowhere near as warm though which is nice. Now off to do some witchy stuff - ie turn the dead frog drying in the warm sunny porch (perfectly normal!!) and finish bagging up some herbs to post.

Have a nice day everyone.

IndigoSkye · 12/04/2020 14:51

I have enjoyed reading these posts over the last few days and through rituals of yoga and gardening and everyday tasks I have been able to keep my anxiety to a minimum! Been thinking of you all gardening as I've pottered in my garden this weekend and I thought you might appreciate the tenacity of spring appearing up through my patio slabs!

IndigoSkye I love that- such a message there- beauty and hope in hostile conditions.
Elphame sounds like a good day, how is your leg? ( and what do you use the frog for?)

OP posts:
YashmisCrone · 12/04/2020 19:37

I love that too Indigo, and the message as you interpret it speakout, beautiful all round.

Cooler here today too, I enjoyed pottering in the garden this afternoon and am feeling more grounded for it.

Wishing everyone a relaxing evening

adjsavedmylife · 12/04/2020 20:59

Ostara blessings to all! And belated thank you for your kind words of support after my whinge on here a few days ago. I will be sure to check out Motherkind.

Today was a lovely day for our family, as a unit we were very fraught around the full moon and much calmer and lighter since. We usually go to one set of parents for the break but obviously not this year. I didn’t foresee the opportunity to create some of our own traditions but several idea presented themselves today. Renewal and rebirth indeed.

Loving the spring chat and new ideas, as always! 💫

VioletCharlotte · 12/04/2020 22:00

Feeling calmer today. It's been cooler here than yesterday and I've managed to relax a little.

I'm missing my forest walks, but enjoyed a stroll through local woods earlier this evening and found a few clumps of bluebells. There's something so grounding and calming about being amongst the trees.

Speakout I've noticed the bird song too, I wonder if it's because there's less traffic noise?

Elphame I'm intrigued to know what the dead frog is for?!

IndigoSkye I love that, feels very symbolic of what we're expecting right now.

Blessings to you all for a peaceful evening.

Any Witches Here? Part 11
Elphame · 12/04/2020 23:26

Thank you speakout! My leg is much better. Still getting weird twinges in odd places but I'm ignoring them.

As for the dead frog! He was found semi dried out in the garden so I thought I'd finish the process. I'm not 100% sure what I'm going to do with him at the moment but he'll either end up in a protective charm bag or I'll ask him to help in some travelling work. The frog is the leaper between worlds.

The birds around here are noisy too. I'm sure it's because there is so much less traffic noise so we can here them. Mind you I can always hear the ravens.... they have such a musical voice ( or not!!).

Today has been cake making and I set my mini toy still up to make some lemon balm hydrosol and essential oil from the first picking this year. It makes the house smell wonderful. I'll make a proper batch later when the plant has grown sufficiently for a large harvest.

speakout · 13/04/2020 07:04

Good morning, another cool start to the day, just having my morning brew- it takes me a good 30 minutes to waken fully, and coffee helps the process no end!
VioletCharlotte I am glad you are feeling calmer, I have the odd wobble, mostly in relation to the news, but I remind myself that these feelings are valid, allowed, I give them space to be felt, and they usually pass within an hour or so.
Elphame I am delighted to hear your leg is making god progress, your lemon balm hydrosol sounds wonderful, you are so knowledgeable about potions and magical preparations.
I have just had a flock of geese passing overhead, honking noisily, but other birds are singing this morning too. I take the point about less traffic, that had crossed my mind, but I usually can’t hear any traffic noise from my house, and the birds still seem much louder- possibly just a shift in my awareness!
I have my morning yoga, then I am about to tackle the chest freezer in the garage. I lose track of what I have in there, it’s full, and want to go digging to organise food for the coming week.
I am sure I have some ice candles there too left over from Christmas!!
I hope everyone has a relaxing day.

speakout and VioletCharlotte This is where not having a TV pays dividends. I can avoid the constant stream of catastrophising. What will be will be.

I'm doing my part by staying in as much as possible and social distancing when I do go out. Other than that I'm doing my best to carry on as usual. I've added "coronavirus" and every variation I can think of to my social media filters. I just wish I could apply them to Mumsnet but I've just cut the amount of time I spend on the main forums to even less.

speakout · 13/04/2020 14:25

Ephame I can see that no TV would help.

I hardy watch TV, but other family members do.
We also heve other considerations too- OH may become forloughed in the next week or two and viability of his company is also uncertain.
Plus DD will hear of her nursing placement this week, she has been asked to work on Corona wards, she is only still 19 years old, and I am concerned for her. I am not sure if that will mean her staying at home, or if she is placed in one of the super hospitals, she will stay in accommodation near there- our nearest is 40 miles away. I am very proud but worried too.

I am mostly calm and doing fine, but it is hard at times.

OP posts:
Elphame · 13/04/2020 15:55

You must be really worried about your DD Flowers

Luckily both my children are able to work from home.

DS did catch the virus just before lockdown from a trade show he was at in London. Fortunately he only had it reasonably mildly but was ill for about 2 weeks. He is now fully recovered. We can only wait and see whether his employer survives the slowdown. He is employed in a ultra high net worth field so fingers crossed.

DN is in the front line though. She's been seconded to work on the virus itself away from her usual field as the lab is one that has the necessary containment facilities.

I know I am very lucky being able to detach myself so much from it now. My own business has been forced to close for the duration of lockdown and unless travel restrictions are lifted I can't re-open any time soon so I'm taking a fatalistic view. There is nothing I can do. At least I've stopped haemorrhaging money but as a director I don't qualify for Govt help. I'm hoping I'll get one of the grants but that's up in the air at the moment

VioletCharlotte · 13/04/2020 20:57

Hello sisters, hope you're all well and have enjoyed the Bank Holiday. I've been working, but it's been much quieter than in recent days.

Elphame I agree that avoiding news and social media is for the best at the moment. My stress was work-induced, I work for the NHS, non-clinical and wfh, but it's full on and I've struggled a bit the last few days. I've been doing my best to not let it affect me, as I know I'm very fortunate in comparison to what out clinical teams are dealing with, however over the weekend I realised how much it was getting me down.

Speakout I've been thinking about your DD. I found out on Friday that we have some second and third year students joining us in the Covid wards and I wondered whether she would be doing the same. It'll be a real challenge for her, but an incredibly valuable learning experience that she'll take with her throughout her nursing career. You should be incredibly proud of her.

Sending love to you all ❤️

speakout · 14/04/2020 07:09

Thank you Elphame and violet, yes I am proud, but concerned.

Many NHS front line staff have inadequate protection, so my DD would be at great risk.
Also her degree is in chid nursing, not adult nursing, she is inadequately trained in an adult nursing environment, and the experiance she would gain would be of limited use when she gets back to her paediatric setting.
So my feeings are very mixed.

A beautiful sunny morning here- frosty, clear skies and stunning.
My morning yoga has brought me calm and stillness.

I hope everyone finds some magical energy to help face their challenges today- in whatever form they take.

Beautiful and clear here too- cooler and fresh. I’m steeling myself for an unavoidable trip to work and will be glad to get home again, complete my day’s work remotely. I’m lucky to be able to mostly do this.

I saw these stunning pictures that reminded me of BlankTimes sky smile. nature is magic isn’t it.

Love to all 🌈

What amazing pictures!
I understand your worries about your daughter. I work in healthcare too and am not on anything like a frontline and yet I worry.
Definitely avoiding news helps a lot. I'm having to take enforced annual leave later this month and i think i might set up a tent and campfire in the backgarden and just camp out every day. Spend all the time outside, read, watch the birds all those nice things.

speakout · 14/04/2020 13:46

rivierliedje

I love the idea of camping in the garden- a real getaway!
Always too cold here!

Just been haning out my laundry, never a chore!!

OP posts:

Backyard camping sounds a great idea! I was wondering about moving into the spare room t pretend I was on holiday Grin

I've been harvesting and drying nettles and wormwood today to make a Mars planetary herbal blend for future use. Otherwise it's been playing on Facebook and preparing to host tonight's online moot ( the meeting software is on my account)

I do think I'm losing the plot a bit though. I washed and hung out a machine load of clothes and then went to put on a second load. I was puzzled to find the detergent drawer was still full. Yes I'd forgotten to actually switch it on so had hung out a load of dry dirty washing without realising..... oops
