A safe, friendly thread where we can pause, think and count our blessings

Everyone is welcome here. Whether you have a faith or not, whether you are grateful for huge things or simple pleasures, whether you post every day or just once; stop by and join us, we would love to see you.

Joining this lovely thread if I may.

I'm grateful for another shot at marriage. In my fifties I married for the second time and am incredibly happy, secure and feel loved.

Also thankful for our lovely old dog and the walk we had in the woods today 💕🐾

Breathmiller · 10/10/2020 19:28

catwithflowers thats so lovely to hear.

I am grateful that I have had time to read a book today.
And for my warm cosy home when it was pouring with rain today

Lessstressedhemum · 10/10/2020 21:50

Hello, Daisy and *Cat". What wonderful things to be grateful for Flowers

Today I am grateful
For a new book on my kindle
Washing line dried today
Listening to dreadful music with my teens (they like it and I like to spend time with them, so sacrifices must be made 🤣)

Pizza
Ice cream
Board games
(None of which is particularly remarkable on its own, but combined with family members made for a very entertaining evening)

Breathmiller · 11/10/2020 15:20

My back being better.
My family all working together as a team to get jobs done around the house.
My lovely dh sneaking kisses in the kitchen while the kids aren't looking. Wink
Having a laugh with my teenager.
My garden giving us an abundant harvest today. Potatoes, kale beetroot and a sneaky wee squash that was hiding under the weeds.

SpeedofaSloth · 11/10/2020 19:28

I still have a job, which isn't to be taken for granted just now.

Lessstressedhemum · 12/10/2020 10:09

Today, I am going to be grateful for the pain I am in because it means I am alive and doing things.

A warm house
Plenty of food in the cupboards
Vets to give my cat his vaccination

Good afternoon:

Three things to be grateful for today:

Our eldest got picked first in sports class at school on Friday which had never happened to him before, he was so chuffed it's kept the house happy all weekend.

Youngest finally finish HP Goblet of Fire book so we got to watch the film.

Blood test results all came back fine from GP this morning.

Orchidflower1 · 12/10/2020 21:53

I am grateful for,

DH being able to collect the DC from school in the car today- it was raining very hard at home time.

Dsis was unwell but is feeling better.

We have food in the fridge.

Breathmiller · 12/10/2020 22:31

Grateful for the paramedics, nurses and doctors who looked after my teenage son today.
And grateful he is back home and okay after a horrible morning.

And for the starry night tonight and Mars that cheered up my younger DS after a difficult day.

Lessstressedhemum · 14/10/2020 20:23

I hope everything is ok, BreathFlowers

I am grateful that I am able to work from home sometimes, as it meant I could stay home with my DS who is in self-isolation for a bit.

Breathmiller · 15/10/2020 21:30

I am grateful for my family and friends who have supported us through a difficult week. We have been held in love by so many.

I am grateful that there is medication that my son can take to help his condition.

I am grateful to have my little one back and for my adult daughter looking after him while we supported our son.

I am grateful for all the medical staff who have spent their lives training and working to help understand the human brain and body to help people.

I am grateful for the fresh air today.

I am grateful for this thread to remind me how much I have to be grateful for.

Lessstressedhemum · 16/10/2020 09:51

It is awful when our kids are ill, Breath. I hope things are improving.

Today I am grateful for a very understanding GP, who spoke to me and my DS with respect and understanding.

Breathmiller · 16/10/2020 19:44

SpeedofaSloth that's wonderful to hear. I have so much respect for doctors who talk to young people respectfully

Today I am grateful for a quiet day catching up with admin and cooking.
And for a phone call with a friend.

And for my daily practice.

Lessstressedhemum · 17/10/2020 23:38

DD safely back to uni (although how long she will be there is anyone's guess)
She knows one of her flat mates
Bunny cuddles

Breathmiller · 18/10/2020 10:13

Lessstressedhemum I'm glad your daughter is settled and knows someone.

I am grateful for the work ny dh has put in to completely overhaul our bathroom. And for a working toilet!🎉🎊
For the laughter in our house even when challenges are going on.

Lessstressedhemum · 18/10/2020 11:17

Thank you, Breath. It's not ideal, tbh, but she's tied into her accommodation contract. She also had a wee job lined up in the hall as one of the students on the residents support team, but that's all up in the air now, too. We will just have to wait and see what happens. I am pleased that one of last year's flatmates is with her again this year, though. A familiar face is a bonus given that there are no in person classes and you can't socialise with anyone outside your household.

Quiet prayer
Supportive friends
Loving family

Shelter from this awful rain
A chat with a very old friend
Weather appropriate clothing

OP posts:
Optimist1 · 19/10/2020 22:52

A person who's very dear to me, but not geographically close, has got good friends to support her through a difficult time
A compliment on my listening skills from someone whose opinion I respect
My home, where everything is functioning as it should (hope I haven't jinxed it now!)

WinWinnieTheWay · 19/10/2020 22:58

For having some good friends to have a lovely evening with. They don't know that I'm struggling, but just being with them helps me a little.

Breathmiller · 20/10/2020 08:22

A bath! A glorious warm soak in a bath.
So I am grateful for running water and the ability to heat it. Something i often have taken for granted.

But it is bliss.

Lessstressedhemum its so hard for these young people at the moment at uni. And for their parents of course. I'll send you and your daughter some metta (loving kindness) in my meditations today.
