Or Wiccans. or Pagans? Or anyone who is interested in a magical path or feels some magical stirrings.

A place for support, learning, swapping ideas and magical inspiration.

Good morning. A cold start here. Most of my decorations are up too, I have been deep cleaning the house and a nice slow pace. Even the top of the fridge! I can't remember the last time that was cleaned!
Oh is off work today, he keeps on top of the fridge, we may go shopping this morning for food, then get ready for our theatre trip.
OH will drop us off there, but not sure about coming home, it is a very busy area of the city and stopping - even for a moment as thousdands pour out of he theatre will be tricky. It may be easier to get a bus, I think there is a stop outside the theatre, and oH can pick us up near home. DD is still struggling to walk, but I will carry her to her seat in the theatre if necessary!

I bought myself a pyrography kit, so excited to try it, I thought it would be great to decorate items and boxes etc with sigils and symbols. Not sure if they are smelly in operation- although wood smoke is one of those fragrances that invoke a tribal ancient memory within us!

I have started collecting containers for ice candles, my freezer now has space, I will post pictures of my results- it was a learning curve last year, with a great mixture of success and learning attempts, so will be inteesting to see where it goes this year!

Thank you for posting that link, such a beautiful piece of work.

I can't remember who it was, but someone was asking for a recipe for mead. This popped up on Facebook earlier so thought id share it in case it's any use.

Wow- that is an industrial Viking sized recipe!!

Back from our outing to the Lion King.
DDs foot is healing fast- thanks to all for the energy.

Lion King is a huge Disney theatrical performance. Massive scale puppetry and intregration with dancers/actors, clever mechanisms, stage work incredible. Incredible performers,. Also a big money making machine. I have a natural tendency towards questioning everything in my life, and this is one of the times.
So although enjoyable, didn't stir me. Plus all main characters were male.
Which doesn't stir me at all!!

Home now in my slouchies, comfy socks- which does float my boat!!

Haha, I have to confess to not really looking at the quantities. I've never tried mead. I'd quite like to (but I only if someone else makes it!)

I'm glad DDs in the mend and the Lion King was enjoyable. I know what you mean about all the hype around these kind of shows, it does take away from the brilliant singers and dancers somewhat.

speakout · 18/12/2019 20:28

VioletCharlotte exactly.

I hope you and you DS are enjoying time together.

BlankTimes · 18/12/2019 21:08

Speakout hope your theatre trip was as painless as possible for your DD and that you enjoyed the performance.

Pyrography, I think the smell depends on which woods you use, a lot of craft type kits use a sort of pressed cardboard type 'wood' which of course doesn't smell natural. Real wood however all has its distinctive smell and as you say evokes our ancient tribal memories.

My freezer is full to bursting, no chance of ice candles unless it gets cold enough to do them outside. Really looking forward to seeing everyones' this year.

My Comfrey ointment arrived today, obviously I'll give it a good trial before I decide a definite yes or no, but whether it's a miracle product or whether I'm deluding myself, I've done 2 applications so far it appears to have worked, time will no doubt tell.

I was delighted to discover Aldi were selling real Kilner jars at a very reasonable price, I bought two one-litre jars and have just washed one and sterilised it in the Aga. I'm waiting for it to cool, then I'm going to attempt to make some sauerkraut for the first time. If that works, I'll try fermenting other veg.

Violet I think that may have been me, so a big Thank-You! I'm definitely searching for some of the traditional mead which that is, rather than the honey flavoured white wine which calls itself mead these days

Our seasonal decorating has been started a bit later than usual this year, the vast order of batteries came yesterday, so the lounge is more of its twinkly self. DD took a panorama shot of 3 of the walls in there, don't know if it will post but I'll give it a go, I've had to reduce it a lot.
May your time be filled with magical moments, both large and small.

Good morning, it's been a week or so since I last posted and I have enjoyed catching up - I'm an early riser but awoke ridiculously early today and have enjoyed the peace and quiet, snuggled up under a blanket with my little shadow (black, furry, 4 paws and very cheeky and cute!) before the rest of the household starts to stir.
@speakout I have booked tickets to see the Lion King with friends next year, I'm very much looking forward to it.
I only have 2 days left to work and can't wait for an overdue long break. The next few days will be quite full on trying to get all the loose ends tied up but it will be worth it to sign off until the New Year.

The activities I have planned for the weekend will be mixed with a big family party on Saturday. I wisely have balanced this with a yoga and meditation class on Sunday and more time spent with friends, but in a more chilled environment.
I had some clarification this week following the confrontation I had last week with a client... it was a small sign which confirmed I was resolutely correct in standing my ground and not to have given in to the demands put upon me. I love it when we get answers directly from the universe, sometimes without even asking!
I hope you are all finding some comfort in your preparations for the solstice without being too swept up in the commercialism of Christmas. I will be giving thanks for the light and insight I get from this group and offer my energy to those who need it.

speakout · 19/12/2019 06:41

Good morning. Making a coffee and taking it back to bed for half an hour in the morning is one of life's great pleasures!

BlankTimes thank you my DDs foot is on the mend.
It was so busy in the city, although quite near, I rarely visit. Thousands of people pouring out onto the streets at 5pm yesterday, joining the commuters heading home and all the shoppers laden with bags. The pavements were crammed. It was quite a refeif to get home.
Blanktimes it is only the tool I have bought- with a selection of tips- no wood included. I already have a few wooden items of various sorts that I plan to use, and some pine offcuts lying around that I can practice with first.
I am planning a calm at home day today- bathroom is next for a deep clean, it is easier to find joy in tasks like this when time is not pressing!!

DD is off to visit a friend, OH will be at work, and my mother has a church event, so just me and DS at home.
I need to clean windows, but my usual window cleaner seems to have gone, there are another lot come around but they make my fur stand up.
They seem popular, many of my neighbours use them, but they swear and shout, last time I used them they trampled my plants and broke a hare ornament- just left the pieces lying.
I don't like their brutish energy!!
Maybe I am overly sensitive!

Well must make a start. Animals need fed and some thought to buying food.

Have a magical day everyone.

Good morning- lovely to share this early time with you.
Yes it is affirming when validation comes from the universe. Often being strong and holding ground is the kindest thing to do.

We as women are often taught that to be weak is kind, and strength is harsh and cruel.
But often being strong is the most loving thing we can do.

Morning sisters,
It’s been lovely to pop in and catch up with everyone’s happenings and musings. The energy here is lovely.

Not much time to chat this morning but I wanted to share this. Local church with a giant lit up pentagram. Good of them to honour us pagans Crown Grin
I know they’ve nicked most of it from us anyway but this amused me when I drove past last night.

Love to all x

Good evening everyone. I have been following this lovely thread for a while but haven’t posted before.

Please may I ask a question? When will you all mark the winter Solstice this month?
Online, it says it occurs on Saturday the 21st at 11.15pm, or on Sunday the 22nd, without an actual time, as far as I can see. Which is correct? I would like to ‘get it right’, or does it not matter as long as it’s celebrated?

YashmisCrone · 19/12/2019 20:04

Welcome Palmysterious I’m glad you’ve posted.

The exact moment of solstice this year is 4.19am on the 22nd

www.rmg.co.uk/discover/explore/when-winter-solstice

I like to celebrate the day itself, going into the night as the days get longer. Welcoming the return of the light with a candle lit throughout the shortest night (it can be left safely in the oven)

Some feel it’s important to mark the exact moment, others prefer a more relaxed approach focusing on the season as a whole. I’m generally of the latter camp but as with everything, it’s about what feels right to you. Crown Smile

I have candles galore lit tonight for our 8pm connection honour of our journey as a group over the last year and to raise energy for those of us needing a boost through the darker days. The energy is both peaceful and uplifting 🕯

VioletCharlotte · 19/12/2019 20:22

Yashmis
I'm joining you for our 8pm connection. My candles are lit, I have sweet orange essential oil diffusing and a soothing ginger tea. The gentle energy on this thread is soothing and calming after a busy day.

Palmysterious welcome 🙏 As Yashmis says, I believe most propel will be celebrating the solstice on the 22nd. I'm looking forward to a special ceremony where we'll be doing some yoga and chanting, followed by a fire ceremony and crystal bowl healing. It feels special as I've been to the same event for each of the equinoxes and the summer solstice, it's a nice space to reflect on the turning of the wheel and what's changed and shifted.

Blanktimes I'm glad the mead recipe was useful. I'd love to know how it turns out 😀

Love you you all ❤️

YashmisCrone · 19/12/2019 20:37

I love it that we’re connecting with our candles Violet, and your sweet orange scent sounds lovely. I’m burning frankincense resin- I think the two go together well!

Your solstice ceremony sounds really special

VioletCharlotte · 19/12/2019 20:44

Yashmis I love Frankincense, I need to buy some more.

Im really looking forward to the solstice ceremony, it's the perfect antidote to the Christmas craziness!

I came across this Yule tarot spread earlier and thought some of you might like it.

Skyejuly · 19/12/2019 20:46

Hi all. I am joining in late but I have my solstice candles lit. On sunday eve (not my desired day but only avail day due to commitments) I will be doing a short solstice ritual with my MIL. Then we do a few things that the kids can join in with.

I am just exhausted. I am due on my period and I have a feeling my body will hold out till the solstice!

Skyejuly · 19/12/2019 20:47

@Palmysterious I just do roundabout the right time. I doubt our ancestors got the exact moment all the time. It will change but the energy can be focussed the same dont worry.

YashmisCrone · 19/12/2019 20:56

Lovely to hear of you with your candles lit too Skye I particularly love candlelight at this time of year.

Like many of us, I’m feeling tired and ready for a break but relaxing entirely by candlelight with greenery, red berries and other foraged decorations feels like exactly the right place to be this evening. I’m relishing every moment.

Violet that tarot spread looks great, very in tune with solstice energy. Thank you 🙏

Any Witches Here? Part 10.
Palmysterious · 19/12/2019 21:24

Thank you Yashmis also Skye and Violet for your welcome and info re the Solstice.

I usually have at least a couple of candles lit daily from around dusk this time of year, so inadvertently joined your 8pm ‘meeting’, which feels good.

Will definitely go with the flow in the next few days as, like lots of people, I’m so looking forward to celebrating the lighter evenings ahead.

YashmisCrone · 19/12/2019 21:26

Just seen this about ice candles. The article is a bit of an advert for a particular kit for making the ice globes but I’m wondering if it’s adaptable using supplies we might have. I love the way they look

midwesthome.com/outdoor-living/ice-globe-lanterns-made-easy/

VioletCharlotte · 19/12/2019 21:34

Oh wow, those are beautiful Yashmis The kit looks like a special kind of balloon, filled with water and frozen. I wonder if it would work with a normal ballon, stood on some kind of a stand to keep the shape?

I wish it would get colder here. My freezer's full, so I won't be making ice candles unless the temperature drops dramatically.
