Have a sniff next time you are in a supermarket! I always stop when I see jasmine in bloom- transports me to tropical shores!

I think the thing about rose fragrance is that there are so many synthetics around- real rose essential oil is so expensive that you are far more likely to come across something scented with a chemical substitute than the real thing.
I would say more than any other fragrance.
Some oils are relatively cheap- lavender, lemon, tea tree etc, so economically viable to include the real thing when making cosmetics.

THat isn't true for rose oil- the price is so prohibitive that it will be one of the first things to be substituted when a manufacturer is seeking to increase profitability.
I always read the small print on labels- I like to know exactly what I am buying or using.
Many synthetic rose fragrances are sickly, not very good for the skin, may give you a headache or just smell plain bad.
That’s why I suggested you smell some roses- do it in Tesco, you know that fragrance will be the real thing, then you can make up your mind if you like rose or not. I hope you will be pleasantly surprisedX

Someone please reassure me that watching old episodes of Button Moon on YouTube counts as self-care...😂

Tigerseye81 · 16/03/2020 19:59

speakout I will definitely smell some fresh Rose's next time I'm in the supermarket, I will report back! (I wonder if there will be flowers left on the shelves, as everything else is bloody empty) 🤪

It is hard to stay calm when storms are blowing all around. But I have hope The world was headed for a path of destruction. The Earth is raising her head and telling us that we are not as powerful as we think- at least those in control, those steering, those with the money. This is the wrong way. This horror is opening our eyes and showing us our reflection. And now flights are grounded, like no climate conference could have done, plastic production at a standstill, like no environmental groups could have done, forcing us to re evaluate our flawed models of economic growth, our hubris and our place on Earth as a just another species. This is a wake up call, a shake up. And when the event is over we will be left in a different place, this will allow space for huge change. A positive change. I have great hope for the future. It will be a rough ride, but it may be a new dawn for us on this planet. Have courage. We all have each other. We have love.

Blanktimes you can never have too many salt lamps! I've just sprinkled some lavender oil on the one by my bed. It makes the room smell lively as it heats up.

Products scented with synthetic rose are nothing like the real thing. I really dislike rose shower gel, hand cream, etc but love the smell of roses. I'm planning to plant some in my garden this year.

I've started to keep a list of projects to work on if we end up in a situation where we need to stay at home for a period of time. Top of my list is sorting out my rather neglected garden and make the most of the outside space I have.

Speakout
Crossed posts. Yes, I feel the same. We're experiencing challenge in a global level like the majority of us have never experienced in our life time. The earth has given us many warnings that the way we live is not sustainable, yet we chose to ignore them. So Mother Nature has taken matters into her own hands. We must go through this period of darkness so there can be light.

It's like the Tower card in a tarot deck. Chaos and destruction, Walls falling down. But out of the rubble we can start again and rebuild something new.

ShrimpyTheGnome · 16/03/2020 21:31

speakout yes! And even small changes such as people being aware that handwashing is important...

Your post has restored some of my positivity amongst all the negativity I've been reading today!

I've had to read quite a lot about CV, as I'm in the vulnerable category (asthma and anorexia, which means my immune system is low) and I just know I have it.

You've made me feel a little less scared.

Thank you.

*“And the people stayed home. And read books, and listened, and rested, and exercised, and made art, and played games, and learned new ways of being, and were still. And listened more deeply. Some meditated, some prayed, some danced. Some met their shadows. And the people began to think differently.“

„And the people healed. And, in the absence of people living in ignorant, dangerous, mindless, and heartless ways, the earth began to heal.“

„And when the danger passed, and the people joined together again, they grieved their losses, and made new choices, and dreamed new images, and created new ways to live and heal the earth fully, as they had been healed.“

Wow, can't believe I've only just found this thread! Obviously I haven't read any of it (or the 9 others) but I'm looking forward to making my way through them all.

I've always been interested in magic but I've never done anything about it before. I've just started a few online courses (Wicca at the moment). Lately I've been feeling that spiritually I'm being driven to look for something, though I don't know what that is, so I'm trying out a few different paths to see if I can find the answer

speakout · 16/03/2020 21:41

MrsSnitchnose glad you have found us! It's a bit stormy out there, but the fire is warm and the teapot is full. Looking forward to getting to know you.
