Can any of you lovelies recommend a decent brand of rose essential oil? I'm a little nervous about buying online.

ShrimpyTheGnome · 15/03/2020 13:47

Re: what happens when we die. I like to believe that we become one with nature again. It's a personal thing with me- I just like the idea of not having to go to a certain place in order to be with my DS, or my gran, again- I can just feel the wind on my face, or let a handful of the ocean run through my fingers.

BlankTimes · 15/03/2020 14:58

Shrimpy Rose is insanely expensive, it's usually sold very diluted in another oil to make it affordable.

This explanation is from a random Google, I'm not recommending this brand but it explains how many roses are used in Otto and Absolute form.

Starchild is a reputable supplier

1ml* Dilution. 1ml: 9ml Light Coconut Oil.

I agree with Blamktimes- pure rose oil is extremely expesnsive, I was given some as a gift a few years ago, it cost £120 for 10ml.

Thank you!

queenrollo · 15/03/2020 17:42

ShrimpyThe Gnome Rose essential oil is my favourite. I have the Neals Yard Rose Absolute as my 'treat' which I use sparingly and have found the Miaroma Blended Rose from Superdrug actually smells quite lovely.

speakout · 15/03/2020 18:48

I agree a beautiful oil, known as the queen of oils, just divine.

Ooh, you’ve reminded me that years ago I treated myself to 1ml starchild rose otto oil- must have been feeling flush! it was indeed divine.
Even the talk of rose here feels soothing and uplifting, lovely stuff 🌹

ShrimpyTheGnome · 15/03/2020 20:56

Roses have always signified safety to me. The smell is comforting! 😍

VioletCharlotte · 15/03/2020 21:10

Coming to this thread is always so uplifting 😊 Rose oil sounds divine.

YashmisCrone · 15/03/2020 21:19

Slightly different but still on the subject of EO’s, does anyone use thieves oil?

I’ve had it in diffusers at work for the past couple of weeks. I usually diffuse it and/or tea tree through the colds and flu season anyway. I figure it can’t do any harm and if it has some positive effect then great!

I had never heard of Thieves OIl- but what an intruiging story!!

Hello again, back with my witchy hat on this time, candle lit and a Lemsip instead of a peppermint tea tonight. Lots to catch up on!

Thank you RoseandIris for the Netflix recommendation. I'll definitely check that one out.

I was interested to read what you wrote about healing work, speakout. It's true that there are so many little gestures that we do instinctively which have such power to soothe. I'd never thought of them as magic before, except perhaps "magic kisses" for my children when they were little and had a bump or bruise. Always worked, without fail.

VioletCharlotte I agree that we're all walking a sort of tightrope at the moment, trying to strike a balance between keeping informed without falling prey to anxiety. You really can feel it in the air, can't you?

We absolutely must keep our eyes and energies as focused as possible on what's ahead of us - confident that things will blossom again in the future, as you say, InTheTempest- and not look down!

Definitely believe that nature is where comfort is to found, especially right now. Thank you for posting the photo of the site you visited and the card. Looks fascinating and the card was so pretty, full of life, colour and the promise of the brighter days to look forward to.

YashmisCrone - thank you for the link on shadow work. I've just read it very quickly but will go back and spend longer reflecting on it. Thank you also for sharing how you plan to celebrate the spring. I like the expression that you and BlankTimes used, the turn of the wheel.

Tigerseye 8 in response to your question 'what happens when we pass?' For me the fact that the atoms that are currently in our bodies will return to the earth, air and water and be taken up somewhere else in the dance of life and energy that is the universe is a comforting idea. We are truly one!

ShrimpytheGnome I really like the way you put it. It's what I feel too: that my long-lost loved ones are all around me, carried on the breeze, sparkling in the dew drops, in the scent of flowers...

Speakout I had a chuckle at your description of yourself as a buckaroo witch! I don't like pigeon holes either Wink.

My plans for a bit of a spring cleaning weekend went well. The cupboard under the sink is no longer an Ali Baba's cavern of odd washing up gloves, old brillo pads and half-used bits of this and that. And the weather cleared up enough for me to get on with some weeding and general tidying up in the garden. I found some bulbs in my shed which I'd forgotten about so they'll be planted this week, and I bought a clematis to brighten up a dark corner. I've also had a good sort out of my different seeds and will start sowing in seed trays this week. We're on semi-lock down where I am so although I will be working from home for several hours a day, I will be able to make most of the lengthening and hopefully drier days to get outside and get my hands dirty.

All this talk of rose oil had made my mind up - but I will definitely not be spending £100 Shock

Keep safe and carry on witching, everyone x

undercoveraessedai · 15/03/2020 21:46

Ooh just stumbled across this very lovely thread - hello!

speakout · 15/03/2020 21:55

undercoveraessedai you are welcome- pull up a comfy chair, there's always tea in the pot.

Quite a stormy night here, and like others struggling with the energies flying around, but a weekend of self care and being gentle with myself is paying dividends.
Off to yoga early tomorrow .
Sleep well.

I'd never heard of Four Thieves Oil before, but for aeons I have known of Four Thieves' Vinegar. I'm pretty sure it was to be sprinkled on the boundary of your property to "encourage" your neighbour to move and used in other banishing negativity ways.

I have the feeling that the origin of the "legend" and the actual ingredients used by the four thieves have been passed down like Chinese Whispers, so trying to extract anything like the original recipe today will be lost in the mists of time.
nourishedkitchen.com/four-thieves-vinegar-recipe/
There's even a wiki page on it Halloween Shock en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four_thieves_vinegar

Hi undercoveraessedai and welcome, do have a browse through our previous threads, there's a few interesting topics there.

Tempest lovely pic of Wayland's Smithy. a bit of history www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/places/waylands-smithy/history/

Many places that are called tombs, chambered tombs, barrows and dolmens by archaeologists today were never designed as tombs, nor had burials in them. Nowadays that's the archaeological classification, but one day hopefully someone will go through all of the dig reports and re-classify the ones that were used for burials and the other ones like Newgrange that weren't which might add to our knowledge of their real use.

The Uffington White Horse - or was it originally a dragon - cannot be seen properly from any nearby viewpoints on the ground, to see the whole figure, you have to see it from a fair distance away, or from above. Why did the ancients do this? No-one knows.
nearby is dragon Hill where it's alleged the last blood of England's dragon was spilt and there's a patch of bare chalk land there where even today nothing grows.
Truly a magical landscape, available for everyone to roam and enjoy.

How do you know when the next full moon is? Are there any good books I could get helping me?

Also just have to add that for some reason I can't tolerate the smell of rose oil, especially rose geranium. Makes me feel very nauseous, I'm very smell sensitive.

speakout · 16/03/2020 06:25

Tigerseye81 this is a useful web site to keep track of the moon.
www.timeanddate.com/moon/phases/uk/london

There are some essential oils I am not fond of either, some I really dislike. rose geranium has no rose oil in it though, rose geranium is a type of geranium plant, not related to rose.
Do you like the fragrance of rose blooms?

Jusr getting ready for an early yoga class, have a great day everyone.

Tigerseye81 · 16/03/2020 09:06

speakout oh that's interesting, I'm not sure now. I've got the Neal's yard wild rose beauty balm and I only managed to use for few days before the nausea and headaches set in, not sure if that had geranium in I'll have to check. Actually thinking about it I don't like Ren rose otto either..

Thank you for that link x

speakout · 16/03/2020 09:13

Tigerseye81 the Neals yard beusty balm contains rose hip oil,, no rose oil.
The Ren otto has extremely low quantities of rose oil, and lots of other ( synthetic) ingredients.

Do you like the smell of fresh roses?

Good morning!

So I'm assuming this week is going to he a tricky one: I'm officially in isolation!

That's fine. I feel that, if I'm being forced to slow down anyway, it gives me more time to meditate, read, learn...

If anyone can spare any energy, please send it my way! 😍

BlankTimes · 16/03/2020 12:27

Tigerseye81 it's a nice thing to do to go outside every night and look at the moon, get to know its orbit, its phases and where it will be in the sky at different times of the year.

This is a nice presentation to get you started moonphases.co.uk/
I also like these products moonphases.co.uk/

Shrimpy It's also a good time to relax and just be, let your body heal itself, don't overload it with trying to do too much Smile

Have a magical day everyone!

r0sebuds · 16/03/2020 12:28

ShrimpyTheGnome sending healing energy your way, and my good wishes for a speedy recovery.

Looking on the bright side is the best way forwardSmile

I'm working from home as from today, trying to set things up and be productive, keep half an eye on my teenagers to make sure they are too (I fear this may be a losing battle), prepare food, rearrange furniture so that my DH will also be able to work from home as from tomorrow...so I think I will up the yoga and meditation tooWink.

r0sebuds · 16/03/2020 12:31

Forgot to say hello and welcome to undercoveraessedai

Lok forward to getting to know you Smile

Tigerseye81 · 16/03/2020 13:52
