RoseyLea - Has been very poorly with nasty chest infection - prayers that she would recover 100% asap - Praise God for how wonderful and understanding her DC's are being! Prayers for her bro who has been made redundant and is seeking new employment.

mumtogusandalbie - Is back!!!! Prayers for her as she deals with panic and anxiety - put caring, supportive people around her, Lord.

CaptainCaveman - Prayers for friends who recently found out they had lost their baby at the 12 week scan. On-going prayers for her alcoholic Dsis and Dniece, saw HV the other day (how did it go??) Prayers for CC as she copes with anxiety on the "mad-pills"

OnlyJoking - DH has MS and Brain Tumour - underwent surgery yesterday, waiting for news - keep praying ......

Sooz - Computer is broken, but is getting a new one from a nice lady at the library soon - Praise the Lord!!

BedofRosesitAint - Is going to be away for 3 weeks - don't forget her! Things are going much better for her!

QQQ - Things are going well between her and DH. Prayers for her as she struggles with the decision between letting her boys go to rugby or church on a Sun morning come Sept. Prayers for finances as they are v.tight this month.

notsofarnow - Is back!! Prayers for her as health is not good right now - eye infection & stomach bug. Praise God she is getting back into a "helm" position at church! Prayers for her as she copes with a new sort of relationship with her husband.

Podglet - Hello and Welcome! Prayers for her as she has a lot going on right now - Her DGran is in final stage cancer and she would also like prayers for a friend who is in the throes of a break-up from her DH after years of lying and cheating. Prayers for her as she "finds more faith"!

NotQuiteGrownUp - Prayers for DS1 who is grumpy and struggling with the new routine of being on hols and not at school. Prayers for a wonderful time as their family head off on hols for 2 weeks!

Worzella - Prayers for her as she struggles with each day....

CaptainDippy - DH starts new job on Mon 13th Aug - prayers for her as she is feeling v.anxious about the new routine that this will mean.

Prayers for Misdee, Peter and Girls as they wait to see if Peter can have a new heart ......

Prayers for those affected by this new outbreak of Foot and Mouth.

Prayers and Praise for all of these things and for those not mentioned too - esp DutchOma who is such a wonderful and special person to have on this thread, bringing her strength, humour and wisdom to all those with requests etc

Hello! I've C and P'd this from the previous thread, as not long after I'd posted CD stratde the new thread (thanks CD), and I wanted you all to know I am back

Well I am back from 2 weeks away, first at New Wine and second at my parents - DC are still there enjoying the sun, sand, GP's time and last but not least the fantastic Beach Mission - DH and I both became Christians through the mission, just 10 years apart!

As I think Worz said, I had a much more relaxed New Wine than I could possibly have hoped for, and God really spoke to me, so thanks so much for all your prayers. Mark Stibbe was fab, his exposition of Romans 8 really hit the spot for me - so much so that Worzella and I were swapping notes to make sure we had got full notes of what he had said! I echo what she said on Thursday about wanting to live in more freedom - I've had lots of teaching, I need to learn to live it out. Today is where the rubber hits the road, will be the first time I have been on my own for over 2 weeks, and I know I find that very hard. And yes, I am going out and doing stuff, but I do need to do some domestic things too.

Enough of me, Welcome Podglet, great to meet you. I am 35, married for 14 years (this Wednesday), and have DS 7 and DD 5. I live in Sheffield.

Great to see you NSFN, praying for your stomach.

OJ, my prayers are with you and your DH.

Glad you enjoyed your hols CD

Thank you God for this fantastic sunshine

Love to you all - it is good to be back! xx

*end of C and P **

How is DS today mufti?

Thanks for the links to OJ's thread, I continue to pray for the whole family.

Happy Holidays Katz

QoQ, lovely to see you, and good to hear that things are going well

mufti · 07/08/2007 09:54

hi PandaG - new wine sounds great - slightly envious . i know a couple of people that were going, i havent seen them to ask about it, those things are what we need from time to time i think, a real uplift and break from reality
i must say the camping aspect puts me off, i like my home comforts too much
well ds went through yesterday without any incidents, slept loads, had a little tea.
was much brighter in the afternoon, more like his usual self
but, had the runs again twice this morning, and is now asleep again, i was so pleased last night as i thought that was it,and we may have got out of the house today, but will have to wait and see.
enjoy the time with Zac DO

notsofarnow · 07/08/2007 10:41

Great to see people feeling better, and having good hols.

My stomach is much better just the occassional wierd feeling which always frightens me because a number of years ago I suffered something chronic with irritable bowel and I dread it coming back.

Please pray for the family of Peter Mcferran the serviceman killed in Iraq the other week its his funeral this afternoon.

I've got two weeks off starting Sat please pray that I find something to do with dc.

CaptainDippy · 07/08/2007 15:19

Afternoon - back in from the sunny sun and doing "domesticy things"

Awwww, podglet - THANK YOU for your compliment So kind of you - not so sure about "glamourous" - you haven't seen me 1st thing in the morning!! Glad you & DS are feeling better sweetie! FYI: I'm CaptainDippy, 25, married to DH, 27, for 5 years (next week!) - DD's 3.5 yrs, 2,2 yrs & 14 weeks - all yummy, as you have seen on my profile. I've been a Christian for over ten years now too.

Glad DS is feeling better mufti - enjoy your free time while he sleeps it off!

I find being on my own with the LO's tough too, Panda - praying for you as you adjust and get into a routine - try to enjoy the time you've got with them!

Right, going to Dyson upstairs now - tooooooo hot for housework!!

CaptainDippy · 07/08/2007 15:21

Hello nsfn! Praying for you as you plan stuff to do with your lot - these summer month are long and slow, aren't they!!? Thank you for bringing Peter Mcferran's family to our attention to - praying for them, esp today as they say "goodbye".

OP posts:
notsofarnow · 07/08/2007 17:44

Wow what a service! I got there 45 mins before it started and there was only room on balcony to sit. Full military funeral with gun salute and harrier jet flyover.

But those poor RAF guys have it all to do tomorrow and again next week for the other two servicemen that died. One soldier was telling us that the other guys that got hurt were 'getting there' He didn' think they would stay in the 'service' but they were getting skin grafts and things so we need to continue to pray for them too.

Also for the bravery shown by some of the really young guys on the day that instead of running away actually went in and probably saved more from death.

The guy who was speaking to us was saying he cant justify being in Iraq and part of his job was to see what people needed and one day they put 52 beds into a clinic and the next day they were gone He says in some respects there is no helping them and we shouldn't be there.

Those guys have a tough job don't they.

CaptainDippy · 07/08/2007 18:22

Gosh. It really puts things into perspective. Praying for the survivors and the families of the dead too. Tragic.

CaptainCaveman · 07/08/2007 20:36

Wow, super busy today on this thread! Glad to see so much talking, it's been a little quiet round here with people on hols or with broken computers!

No, I didn't get the ironing finished, thats my task for tonight. Borrrring. Praise God I'm starting to feel much better, long may it continue. Hmm, might just postpone the ironing and put my feet up instead....what do you think!?

Please could you pray for my friend at work, her mum is terminally ill. My friend is having trouble sleeping with worrying about stuff.

Praying for all as requested. Thank You God for blessing me with so many wonderful Christian friends

DutchOma · 07/08/2007 21:16

Definitely put your feet up, if you haven't already done so.
No success with having Zac, he had fallen asleep on the way over but woke when we tried to put him in the cot here. After half an hour he was beginning to be really unhappy, so I walked him round in his buggy for about twenty mins; crying really hard now, so I phoned his mum who had gone out for dinner and was twenty mins away. By the time I had finished texting her he had gone to sleep in the buggy, so I left him there and he slept for a while, not long before he was howling again. So they came and fetched him, with tears on his little face, everybody feeling a bit defeated I think. He is such a darling though.
What a hard thing to do NSFN, such a waste of young lives, is there anybody now who thinks we did right invading Iraq?

notsofarnow · 07/08/2007 22:46

Ok girls i'm doing something really mad - well it feels really mad. I've put my details onto a christian dating site and now i'm emailing this guy. I don't know what he looks like, in fact I know very little about him full stop. How does this internet dating ever work, and yet I know it does. Aghhh am I mad?

Been out tonight with some of the nursery mums ate lots of Pizza and chocolate fudge cake hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Bit stuffed now though. Must go to bed. I'm talking rubbish ignore me.

worzella · 07/08/2007 23:41

hi everyone - a quick post as I should be in bed. Felt quite embarrassed about the previous thread summary - I have been better recently and I am enjoying the school holidays - I just have odd incidents where I spiral into negativity but generally I am feeling better...

Praying for OJ and Misdee and Peter - we know our God can heal... we paray for the miraculous.

Praying too for others on the thread - and for NSFN - hope you have fun on the dating site - sometimes we need to take a few risks and be more proactive. I speak from experience as 10 years ago I met my husband through soulmates' in the Guardian [grin} and our first meeting was in a local pub - I had no idea where it would lead... and 10 years later, 3 DCs and the rest is history as they say....

mufti · 08/08/2007 07:27

hey nsfn - guess how i met dh ? - not a christian site tho' but i do know one other couple who met on one
find out as much as you can about him, and take it slowly.

podglet · 08/08/2007 08:22

Morning

NSFN - my mum's best friend met her DH online they now have a gorgeous DD too enjoy it!

Praying for OJ, Misdee and their DH's as always.
CC - praying for your friend, my mum is going through the same thing with my gran - she is not sleeping properly and I worry about her as much as I do about my gran

I did the ironing in the end

mmmmm pizza and fudge cake am currently on an extremely strict diet to be able to fit into a dress for my friends wedding in Sept. I am so excited, we have known each other since we were 11 and she is marrying the most lovely chap - they are Christians too and it will be the first Christian wedding I have attended.

podglet · 08/08/2007 08:23

Sorry got a bit over excited with my smileys! Am happy today though so I thought I would spread the happiness - have a couple of for luck!

CaptainDippy · 08/08/2007 10:36

Fantastic Podglet!

Sorry the summary embarassed you Worz - not intended - I just had the impression you were really struggling atm - glad it is not the case though - I am prone to spirals of negativity too - so much sympathy here!

Oooooooh nsfn - you little minx - I echo exactly what has already been say - live a little, take some risks - but take it slowly and be v.v.v.v.cautious too - not just cos you've met this guy through the Net, but also cos you've only just been hurt very badly. {{{{hugs}}} Do keep us up-to-date!

Sorry things didn't go fantasically wih Zac, DO - A tip for the future would be - couldn't your DD settle him down for a sleep 1st and then go out? That's what I would do if I were leaving mine.

Fellow Captain - Praying for your poor friend at this anxious time, praying God grants her rest and peace.

All ok in DippyLand, if a little tired .....

Roseylea · 08/08/2007 12:14

Hello all!

Just popping in to say hi and let you know I'm praying.

Been at the park this morning - dd was on a roundabout with 2 boys aged 3 and 5 who were using the most appalling language - eeeekkkk - swearing at each other and using really nasty words - so I told them off and went and found their mum and told her what her dss had been saying. Oh dear - it's so hard isn't it? It shocked me a bit that these realy young boys were using such foul language and I did knd of feel that if I weren't able to stand up to them now, what wuold they be like by the time they're ten or twelve? It's hard though knowing when to tell off other people's kids, isn't it?

On a happier note I have started riding my bike again! I used to love my bike and recently got it back after a long time so I can't wait for this evening to go cycling round the place! I am going every morning and every evening and I love it! I want to get my fitness up so that in Sept I'll be able to cycle to work - v. hilly!!!

DutchOma · 08/08/2007 14:46

That was a brave thing to do Rosey. Hope you enjoy your bike ride tonight. I've never been good with hills, being Dutch of course. I love cycling there.

CD, yes, that's what we did before and it worked well. But this time they had tried to get him to sleep in the car and he had and then woke up when they took him out. Then, while he was chuntering a bit, his daddy went up because 'he was crying' and in the end he was just so wide awake. I thought he would probably go off once they were out and the place was quiet, but none of it. He's taken to screeching very loudly and it is wearing us all down. At seven months it is not easy to know what to do about it.
Will you have a little rest this afternoon?

CaptainCaveman · 08/08/2007 17:23

Flying past.....

Dsis been admitted to hospital with breathing problems, some sort of bronchospasm, got dneice here with me and waiting for update from mum who's at hospital with dsis. Picked dneice up from nursery and told her mummy was poorly and the doctor has sent her to hospital - she said "Oh, mummy might die. Or she'll be poorly ALL week". so matter of fact arent' they kids!?

love and prayers to all
xxx

worzella · 08/08/2007 18:42

Sorry CDippy - wasn't meant as a criticism - more that I didn't want to have given the impression that I was REALLY struggling - especially when life's quite good really! - just distressed that we're 1/2 way through aleady!! and that means that I will be back at work in no time

CaptainDippy · 08/08/2007 18:43

Praying for your DSis, CC - do update when you know more ......

Rest, DO, what is that!!? Have been working all afternoon, have just had tea, DD's in bed & I am popping on here quickly before heading out to a meeting ..... have a friend coming tomorrow PM while older 2 are at nursery, so going out for lunch and a seafront walk - looking forward to it!

Good for you with those boys, Rosey! enjoy the cycling - I'm in awe!

Right, going to shout at the girls and get ready to go out .......

Had a phone call tonight, about N. She is in hospital, as I said. Its more of a "flesh-eating bug" than an infection, but its not one they've ever come across, so its an unknown quantity. They are doing an MRI scan tomorrow, presumably to see if its spread to the brain. N. isn't taking it very well apparently, has lost a lot of weight. I've been asked if I'll go and visit her, which I'll try my utmost to do Friday (tomorrow is Mum's b'day).

I THINK I've finished my essay!!! Phew!

My Aunt's funeral is on Monday too, so please think of her family...

harrisey · 08/08/2007 23:04

Hello there my friends, I am back!

Had no internet connection when we were up north but now here I am again, back in the civilization of Glasgow (we left the day of the bomb attack, and have returned to hear the new word on the street from little boys is 'ahm gonnna set ahboot ye' a la John Smeaton, baggage handler)

The time away was good - got my head around a lot of things to do with living up there, and did a lot of reading theology which I needed to do.

This week I am on a Children at Risk course in college, which is once again blowing my mind. Our main lecturer works for Servants Asia and is immensely inspiring in his mesage of incarnational service and community focus. Dh and I have been having some hard debates over the summer about living more simply, and this is pushing us on in that. Watch this space.

Dh, dd1 and ds are all at the kids club at church this week - please pray for dh, he is exhausted adn its only wednsday! We are taking 3 other little boys who live locally along, so pray for them, none of them have any church background at all and they are loving it!

Being Scotland, we go back to school next week. Dd1 is looking forward to it, but ds is hyper excited about starting! He has his schoolbag packed already! He cried today when he found out it was mornings only for 5 weeks! Dd2 is also starting nursery, thats the following week!!

Anyway, thats my update (off again for a few days on Friday to visit friends in York before school starts).

MaryBS · 09/08/2007 04:26

Welcome back Harrisey! Good to see you!
Glad your holiday went well.

Wow, that servantsasia site is really something - just one of the stories on there practically had me in tears God bless them and the work they do for those poor children... Did you know my SIL works in child protection in this country?

CaptainDippy · 09/08/2007 07:41

Only v.quick ..... Praying for N Mary - keep us updated .....

Welcome back Harrisey - we have missed you and have been praying for you all and will cont to do so!

Manic day today so gotta buzzzzzzzzz
