@Broomstick (adore your screen name, btw). It's not the fasting- I got a dispensation from my priest to eat breakfast (well, wholewheat crackers) before Mass as it was supposed to reduce morning sickness.

I think I'm going to take some ibuprofen before Mass starts next week and see how it pans out.

permanentlyexhaustedpigeon · 24/07/2017 08:18

Jivebunny I do sympathise - you poor thing! I found standing really got to me as well so spent a lot of my pregnancy sitting through Mass. Agree with your priest as well - pregnant women, nursing mothers, children under 7 (??) and adults over 65 (??) are exempt from all fasting if my memory serves. I found out a lot of interesting things like that when my cousin was ordained!

Don't worry about sitting when you need to - you're still participating. I had a lot of enforced sitting due to injury and it was hard to begin with, but the support of the congregation really helped.

Doublegloucester · 24/07/2017 17:02

I have morning sickness (well all-day sickness) and just sit through most of the service. No-one has said anything even though I haven't told them I'm preg yet. I'm only 7 weeks and standing for even a short while makes me feel faint and horrible.

SESthebrave · 24/07/2017 22:33

I agree - do what causes you the least discomfort. I would tend to sit a lot during services but that wasn't always comfortable either. Sometimes I'd need to stand and go to the dise wall and stand.

I'm a bit behind the times but am in the middle of watching Broken on iPlayer. It's a brilliant piece of drama - has anyone else on here watched it?

Dutchoma · 24/07/2017 23:04

Have a look back on here SES, there are quite a few comments on Broken. I have seen the last episode and want to watch the other instalments, but haven't found the time/energy.

Flying visit - not sure whether enough battery to catch up.
I'm at New Wine and have met mhd
She's every bit as lovely in real life (sorry if that gives you much to live up to mhd)

nickelbeingnormal · 24/07/2017 23:14

double I just caught your news
Congratulations and lots of prayers for a sticky bean xxx

BroomstickOfLove · 25/07/2017 07:12

I thought that Broken was wonderful - one of the best things I've seen on TV for a long time.

Madhairday · 25/07/2017 08:50

Just popping in too having topped up mobile data here at NW! Met nickel yesterday, she is absolutely lovely too. She might be suffering from Charismatic Worship overload Grin

It's lovely here and sunny at last! Loving it :)

Doublegloucester · 25/07/2017 11:20

Thanks nickel!

Glad you two have met up! Lol re charismatic worship overload!!

Dutchoma · 25/07/2017 12:13

How are you coping Nickel? I know I would only have to have a little bit of charismatic worship to run screaming from the premises.

Madhairday · 25/07/2017 12:38

Aww Oma it's gorgeous. Thousands worshipping God together. Just beautiful ❤️

Niminy · 26/07/2017 07:27

I can't do charismatic at all, it's just not me, so I'd be running away with Oma. I like the idea of thousands of people though.

Dutchoma · 26/07/2017 08:12

Thank you Niminy.

I think it's wonderful that God created us all so differently, isn't it. Sorry, Oma. Was trying to be light-hearted. We need to find places we belong to worship. I guess I'm experiencing such loveliness here I wanted to share it Flowers

Dutchoma · 26/07/2017 16:43

MHD It is wonderful that we are all so different. I went to a village church nearby today with a friend I made at Scargill, there were just eight of us for a communion service and it was wonderful. We sang 'Be still and know tht I am God. I can't do with thousands and all the drums up front, it completely flattens me and I want out. I'm glad Niminy feels the same and I am delighted that after all the pain and trouble you have had, you now have this wonderfult experience at New Wine, I really am. I'm just wondering how Nickel is doing, because I thought she was more on my wavelength than yours.

That sounds lovely, Oma. What a wonderful way to go and be with God Flowers

Haven't seen nickel today, hoping to catch up tomorrow Smile

Niminy · 26/07/2017 22:17

Just thinking about my priesting, with the choir and people singing Veni Sanctus Spiritus very quietly and one voice soaring in a descant above - and I looked up to the cathedral roof and thought of the Holy Spirit filling that huge space as well prayed for her/him to come, and weeping with joy and awe.

You are so right, MHD, we are fearfully and wonderfully made, and God has so many ways of calling us into his presence.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 26/07/2017 22:38

there were just eight of us for a communion service and it was wonderful

I've been at a tiny service like this - for communion the priest asked us to form a circle and we offered communion to each other - it was lovely

I can't describe how special and holy it felt -- beyond words

Madhairday · 26/07/2017 23:01

That's beautiful niminy.

It's how I feel here, with thousands singing together, hands raised, of one voice and heart. It's glorious.

EddSimcox · 27/07/2017 02:54

I find I like it all more and more - I guess I get different types of good from different types of service. I quite often go to HC on a weekday when it's just me and the vicar, or 3 or 4 of us. I love that, it feels more prayerful than a big service. And I love a huge congregation singing loudly. I'm definitely not evangelical, but I think there's a kind of sacramental charismatic zone which is probably my favourite worship of all - only experienced it a few times though...

Niminy · 27/07/2017 06:27

Maybe Edd you would like what they do at On Fire Mission, which is sacramental and charismatic. I've always wondered about going to their conference, partly to challenge my own un-charismatic-ness.

Doublegloucester · 27/07/2017 06:45

Lovely posts ☺️

EddSimcox · 27/07/2017 06:46

Yes, absolutely niminy I followed their last gathering on Twitter - it did look good. Smile

EddSimcox · 27/07/2017 06:48

Sad and lonely here in NZ. Glad people are up in the UK at last :)
