A new thread for a new year. If you would like to pause, breathe and count your blessings, this is the place for you.

Everyone is welcome, we love to see new faces. It doesn't matter whether you have a faith of any kind or no faith at all; whether you post every day or just once: whether your blessings are great or small. Please drop by and be welcome.

Milder weather - still hating the January mank, but at least it isn't freezing outside.
First blossom.
Counting down to big holiday in August - it's starting to feel real and we can't wait!
Settling back into work.

Movingonmymind · 25/01/2016 08:58

Selfishly, I need to " get grateful" so am rejoining this thread! I realise how bad/narcissistic that sounds but a little desperate- lots going on, mess to untangle and hard to focus on the good, so here goes:

Ddog, his silly soul lives utterly in the present, is funloving and greets us all with so much affection and love 😊

Shelter, safety and food in the fridge.

My dc, however challenging.

The wonder that is British theatre at its best, had the privilege of seeing some truly wonderful theatre recently, renewed my love in Shakespeare when it's done well.

Ditto am really enjoying audiobooks, what a fine invention, especially for insomniac moments in the middle of the night, no need even to put the light on!

Have a good day, everyone and namaste.

CalmYoBadSelf · 25/01/2016 09:10

May I join you please. I am feeling stressed and low but I know that I have so much to be grateful for and need to focus on that more rather than worrying about things that might never happen. I managed to work on positivity and prayer some years ago as a way of recovering after my Dad died and felt so much better for it which I'm sure helped me give more positivity out to others too.

I am grateful for DH, DCs, their partners and all the family
I am grateful for a safe, warm home
I lost a very dear friend last week who was only my age so far too young to go but I am grateful for the fact that I knew him and have such lovely memories

Lessstressedhemum · 25/01/2016 11:53

Flowers, Moving and Calm. So sorry for your loss, Calm.

A bed to sleep in and shelter from the rain
Netflix and brainless TV programmes
Friends
A brief respite from too much pain.

I feel so bad about complaining and feeling sorry for myself because so many people have things much worse than I do. I completely need to give myself a shake.

You are allowed to feel sorry for yourself Less. Thanks Thanks Thanks It is awful feeling rotten. Try Magnesium Citrate - most of my hardcore dieting ways have fallen by the wayside, but I honestly think taking this each night has helped me loads. It has to be Citrate as this is the easiest to absorb.

Welcome Moving and Calm. Sorry about your friend Calm Sad.

I am grateful for:

Always home and family.
Getting some work done and successfully beating down my arch-nemesis procrastination.
My job, even though it is hard and thankless at times.

Movingonmymind · 26/01/2016 08:30

Morning, blustery start here. Thanks for the welcome 😊, Kinky and Less.

Calm- I am truly sorry to hear about your dear friend, may she rest in peace. It is a huge blow, isn't it? I lost a good friend last year and was hit harder than I thought by her loss. She stays with me though, I think of her fondly now slightly more than sadly and am so pleased to have known her. That takes time though as I'm sure you know so be kind to yourself.

Less- I hope you're not in too much pain today. And please don't beat yourself up for "complaining"- it isn't relative, is it? It's your pain and your life and we all have tough stuff, you no less than anyone else.

So, today, I am grateful for the ongoing health of a friend, coffee, a brief period of peace and reflection now before a busy day; dc2's loving nature and hugs 😄 and my job (despite its frustrations).

Lessstressedhemum · 27/01/2016 17:50

Thank you all. Self pity ramped up a notch because I fell down the stairs on Monday evening between food bank and boys brigadeBlush My ME and fibro are always bad this time of year and I'm not good at dealing with my limitations, hence the accidents.

Anyway, still plenty of blessings
Faith and prayer
Family
Watching the birds at the feeders
Shelter from the cold, wind and rain.

Movingonmymind · 27/01/2016 21:27

Gosh, Less, hope you're okay? Sounds nasty amd also sounds like you fit a lot in to help other people, hope you're looking after yourself a little too?

Today (slightly gritted teeth) am grateful for my job, I really am. Really! I am trying to overcome my frustration and care a little less about the organisational barriers to doing it better and just accept what can be done and then walk away care free at the end of the day. But it is a struggle.

I am grateful again for our wonderful British theatre and the pleasure of seeing a top actor up close in a period piece. And grateful that directors/actors/other attendees still care enough to enable such work to be put on. It's a wonder really, in the Facebook age. But then here am I talking about it online...

Am grateful that a dfriend seems much less stressed than she was last time I saw her. Wish our world was a more calm-inducing place, mental health is a huge issue and people rarely get adequate, appropriate support.

I am glad that peace currently reigns here, phew. A calm night.

Good night all.

KinkyDorito · 28/01/2016 07:09

Oh no Less Thanks Thanks. Hope you are getting chance to rest up.

Sounds like a peaceful evening Moving Smile. I need to go to the theatre more.

Adventure Time with breakfast (love how colourful it is Grin)
Flavoured coffee - getting me through work atm
One more get up before the weekend

Movingonmymind · 28/01/2016 12:12

Enjoy your coffee, Kinky, am with you (and buzzing!) on that!

Today, I am thankful for a beautiful, crisp, sunny day and the opportunity to have had time outside to have appreciated it. Ddog and his happy, bumbling ways. I get to talk to all and sundry thanks to him (and this in a fairly snooty, busy large town). Also, much more significantly that a family member is okay, more or less, after he was knocked down by a car! Thank God he's alive! A little time to reflect. For the NHS being free and generally good at the essential stuff as have friend in today and cross fingers she'll be okay. 2 big reminders of how precious health is and how nothing else matters much before that.

Have a good day everyone. 😊

Movingonmymind · 29/01/2016 11:29

Morning, today am v grateful that dfriend in hospital is ok and recovering. On a more basic note, for coffee, chance to get outside and distress a little. And Hot water bottles!

Lessstressedhemum · 30/01/2016 15:18

Glad your friend and relative are both doing OK, moving. The NHS is definitely something to be grateful for.

I'd like to join please.
I may not get the chance to post every day but I would like to put more positive thoughts out there. I have this notion that if I release them somehow their energy may lift someone who needs it, that sounds a bit daft now I've written it... ah well.
I am grateful for a relatively pain free day, for being able to catch up with a good friend and cuddle a puppy, and that I can see the bottom of the laundry basket - a first for about 2 weeks!

KinkyDorito · 07/02/2016 12:27

Hello new people! Smile

captain it doesn't sound daft at all Smile.

Hope you are feeling better Ijust Thanks.

regrets YY to Spring. Blossom all over and daffodils, which delight me, but then I worry it is a bit early. Still very pleased to see them after the dreaded January.

I am grateful for my comfy sofa and a cup of coffee.
I am grateful for no demands on me today.

As always, I am very grateful for my lovely family.

KinkyDorito · 07/02/2016 12:28
