Cosmic Ordering - let's try again?

Logically I know it "should" be a load of crap but every time I've tried it, I've received what I asked for. Way back as an 8 year old we were moving house and I so desperately wanted a garden with steps on the path (no idea why). I visualised it and "prayed" for it and the house we ended up with had two steps on the path which was very rare in that area.

More recently I stumbled across the concept of cosmic ordering and decided to "order" a money find. A few nights later we were walking through a graveyard and there on the ground wet through and covered in muck was a £10 note staring up at me. I put it down to co-incidence.

A couple of years later I met a guy, fell in love with him and looking back it was obvious that I liked him more than he liked me ... So out of desperation I "cosmically ordered" for him to tell me he loved me on one specific night. So there we are, camping in a field, messing around and I do something daft and he laughs and says "oh god, I love you!" - he was not being serious, he was being sarcy but he still said it.

So a few months later I placed a cosmic order for him to say he loved me and meant it. So there we are, great night out, we're back in the hotel, he'd not said it. I tried to prompt it by asking how he thought the relationship was going and he said "great, but let's take it slow eh? I mean, I don't want to say I love you ... We've not been together long ... But I do, I do love you ..." Wtf? Cosmic order granted but not quite in the way I'd hoped.

A year later, we're still together. I place a cosmic order for him to ask me to marry him on this specific night. So we're sat in a restraunt and I do not prompt the conversation at all. All of a sudden he laughs and says "let's run off and get married in Vegas?". I didn't know how to take it so didn't say anything .. He then added - "I'm joking ..."

A few days ago I "ordered" an iphone 5c in green for less than £300 - that same night dp told me he'd won me that same phone on ebay for £260 (almost impossible to get one so cheap in "like new" condition.

It just seems that I get everything I ask for when I try it but never in a way I expect it. Does anyone else have any stories about cosmic ordering?
If you're not into it, don't take the piss please :-)

Today, I'm going to try it again. I'm going to start small and order the sighting of a red balloon by the end of the day. I'll update tonight whether or not it appeared.

Matorina I'm thankful for getting better no matter how insignificant the complaint. I'm thankful each one got better and not worse. That's me. Smile

Martorana · 05/03/2014 10:43

But why attribute the incredible ability of your body to self heal to outside agencies?

capsium · 05/03/2014 10:45

Because it is my belief. I also belief my body was designed by God so it's ability to heal is attributed to Him. Every good thing is attributed to him since He is in what is good.

Martorana · 05/03/2014 10:49

So do you think your body self heals better because you are a Christian than mine does because I am an atheist?

capsium · 05/03/2014 10:55

I believe that atheists bodies were designed by God as well. So we all have the ability to heal.

However I also believe since the Fall our body's are fallible, so illness can occur.

Accessing God's healing by Faith, which is His will, is maybe more difficult for an atheist, them not exercising any of their faith, which we all possess the ability to use.

Martorana · 05/03/2014 11:25

So could you give me an example of a case of somebody recovering from an illness which you attribute to divine intervention, and which would not have happened without?

capsium · 05/03/2014 11:41

Matorina There are plenty of examples, which you can find on Christian websites, you do not have to look very hard. Jesus also healed and brought people back from the dead in the Bible.

Unless you believe that Divine Intervention is possible I expect you would either put them down to spontaneous healing or just label them unexplained.

CoteDAzur · 05/03/2014 12:02

Did you just say atheists don't heal from wounds or recover from illnesses as well as religious folk ?

BackOnlyBriefly · 05/03/2014 12:06

Catching up, but ColinFirthsGirth I said 'if' not 'when' for a reason. It's fine to offer things which we know make people feel more relaxed as long as it doesn't stray over the line into making unsupported scientific claims. If you did that it would be unethical even if you meant well. That btw was the least judgemental term I could think of. Ethics sometimes is a fuzzy line.

Given your confidence in the link you offered (which showed evidence against and not for your belief) it's reasonable to point out the dangers of letting your enthusiasm take you over the line.

capsium · 05/03/2014 12:09

No I didn't Cote. I said what I said which was that it is more difficult for atheists to access healing through Faith. The atheists I have conversed with do not recognise the value in Faith, so do not chose to exercise it, so if they do not exercise any Faith how can there be Faith healing?

However because I believe everyone, including atheists, was designed by God, I believe atheists can heal as well as Christians. I believe illness occurs because of the corruption that occurred since the Fall. This hereditary corruption may affect individuals differently so there may be some extremely physically healthy atheists out there...

BackOnlyBriefly · 05/03/2014 12:19

As for your last sentence -for goodness sake I am not trying to impress anyone!

You misunderstood a figure of speech there. I was referring to your use of a 'number six'.

would you deny them this change to relieve some of their symptoms in their last days on earth "

A 'number six' is when it's suggested that posters are questioning the value of something because we want to deny it to someone who is suffering. It usually comes up in discussions about the afterlife.

Martorana · 05/03/2014 12:29

"Matorina There are plenty of examples, which you can find on Christian websites, you do not have to look very hard. Jesus also healed and brought people back from the dead in the Bible."

I know. I was hoping you would give me your favourite one. I have never seen one that wasn't either remission, natural healing or a fake- I'd like to see one that was at least unexplained.

capsium · 05/03/2014 12:36

Matorina I don't have a favourite, they are all great for me. Smile

Seriously, if you are interested in finding examples of healing, your own search would be most constructive. Only you know what would satisfy you and for how long you are prepared to persevere in this search. I would encourage you to, you might find it interesting.

HettiePetal · 05/03/2014 12:37

I had sinusitis a few weeks ago, Cap. Bloody hurt, but I've had it many times before so just let it sort itself out. Which it did.

Obviously, I didn't pray, sniff essential oils or tell any person of faith who might possibly have prayed for me.

I am (I think) a very physically healthy atheist, and I rarely need medical help. Most of my problems are self-limiting.

So, who/what is healing me?

capsium · 05/03/2014 12:42

Hettie your Divinely designed body righted itself...

HettiePetal · 05/03/2014 12:48

So why can't your divinely designed body right itself then? According to you, Christians ask god to heal them through their faith.

If the same thing happens without faith, then faith is completely pointless.

Martorana · 05/03/2014 12:50

"Seriously, if you are interested in finding examples of healing, your own search would be most constructive"

So you're not prepared to show me one?

capsium · 05/03/2014 12:53

Hettie I believe the corruption since the Fall affects everyone differently. We all have strengths and weaknesses. Some people's bodies are better at healing themselves, some in some areas, some have different strengths and so on.

Added to this worry and unbelief works against Faith, inhibits it. So if you think your illness will just get worse, it often does. This is why I am so protective of Hope and Faith.

capsium · 05/03/2014 12:54

Matorana I don't need to.

Martorana · 05/03/2014 12:57

Of course you don't need to , but I would have thought you would want to.

capsium · 05/03/2014 12:59

What I want Matorina is for you to be motivated into doing your own search, since I believe it is that which will be most meaningful to you.

HettiePetal · 05/03/2014 13:05

So a weak or strong immune system is all to do with The Fall?

Nothing to do with biology then? Evolution and so forth?

What.
A.
Load.
Of.
Twaddle.

I'm off for my lunch. Let's hope my food doesn't get stuck in my windpipe which some BTEC level "designer" unaccountably stuck right next to my oesophagus.

capsium · 05/03/2014 13:07

Well if you believe in survival of the fittest...

BackOnlyBriefly · 05/03/2014 13:08

I googled about faith and healing and right away found an unpleasant story about children killed by belief in healing. You know the old "no need to take them to the doctor because their divinely designed bodies will be healed by god".

No point in linking to it. We're all seen it so many times.

Martorana · 05/03/2014 13:11

"What I want Matorina is for you to be motivated into doing your own search, since I believe it is that which will be most meaningful to you."

I have looked into this sort of thing extensively over the years. I have never come across a single verifiable case of faith healing.

I suspect you haven't either or you wouldn't be so patronising/coy about it!
