Welcome to our new prayer thread for 2014. This is a safe and supportive place of prayer, where regulars, occasional visitors and lurkers, committed Christians and those just dipping a toe into the water are all equally welcome. Come and leave a prayer, tell us what’s going on in your life, bring your worries, hopes, fears and joys to God, and know that you will be prayed for.

We pray, in particular, for...

... amberlight, for her work raising awareness of autism in churches, and for her to know love and acceptance wherever she goes;

... Badvoc and her family, as they grieve for her dad; prayers too for her aunt who is seriously ill; and prayers for a good recovery from her gallstones operation;

... BananasForTed, praying for her mental health and for her difficult work situation, and also praying that she was able to go back to her church and that she found support there;

... BlackEyedSusan, for all the many things which she has to juggle in her life as a single parent; in particular, we pray for her mum's health, and for both her DC to receive the support that they need at school;

... BlessedAssurance, when she feels challenged because of her faith at her place of work; also for her pregnancy and for her eye problems;

... BoxOfDelights, for her to find somewhere good to live and a job;

... bountyicecream, thanking God for her renewed happiness after leaving a very difficult and abusive relationship, and praying that she will continue to grow in happiness and strength in the future;

... CharlotteCollinsisinherownplace, giving thanks for her new home and new job;

... Don'tsteponthemomeraths, thanking God that an MRI has shown her brain to be normal, and for the continued progress of her niece, little Grace, born prematurely;

... DutchOma and Bob, for Bob's health to be as stable as possible and for him to receive good care in the hospice; also praying for him to see some glimpses of light in what is, admittedly, a very difficult situation, so that his outlook may be less 'catastrophic'; and praying for Oma that she may find rest and peace of mind and support at this time;

... Gingercurl, giving thanks for the successful completion of her thesis and praying for her viva to go well; also for Ginger’s MIL who has been diagnosed with cancer;

... HadALittleFaithBaby, for all bugs to leave to Faith household; also for her neighbour who has cancer and for his family;

... JugglingFromHereToThere, for a job which interests and fulfils her;

... Kaykat, giving thanks that she is now settled and happy in her new home with her DS, and praying for her DS to cope well with his new situation and not allow his dad to influence him in a negative way; also praying that she will find a welcoming church community in her new place;

... MadHairDay, thanking God for a Christmas spent at home with her family, and praying for continued health in 2014; praying too for health and love and friendship for MHD’s DD;

... NeverKnowinglyUnderstood, for her relationship with her DS and for support for them to understand his anger and frustration and find ways to avoid it if possible;

... niminypiminy, for happiness in her new home;

... octopusinastringbag, thinking of her as she feels drawn to explore faith in more depth;

... PandaG, for her mum's health;

... PositiveAttitude and her family; in particular, at this time, for DD3, praying for a happy end to her pregnancy with no complications; also praying for PA's parents’ health, for her DD1's finances, for her DS's anxiety, and for PA as she awaits the outcome of a job application and misses her DH and DD4;

... revivingshower, praying for her back pain to ease and thanking God for her family who've been supporting her during this tough time;

... RoomForALittleOne, for her DD3 to stay well and to sleep well too, so that Room can get enough rest;

... RunRunRuby, thanking God that she has come to our thread and praying that her faith may be strengthened;

... SESthebrave, for all that she has to juggle in her life, with work and DC;

... SunshinemMum, praying for her and her family as they look for a new spiritual home after leaving their previous church; may they find the place that is right for them, and may it welcome them with open arms;

... thegreenheartofmanyroundabouts, for a more peaceful time now to recover from the hecticness that is Christmas, and for her academic work;

... weegiemum, giving thanks for her own better health, but praying for her stepmum and for Kat, who are both seriously unwell and for all in the family affected by their illnesses;

We pray also for all regular and occasional visitors, and those we haven't seen for a while, including: Bluetinkerbell, cloutiedumpling, EasyCompadre, FairPhyllis, fluffieduckie, FriendOfDorothy, GoodbyeRubyTuesday, harbinger and her family, JakeBullet, jan and her DD, ktef, LollipopViolet, MaryBS, notquiteagrownup, PloddingDaily, Soozi, thehorridestmumintheworld, trish5000, youretoastmildred, and zulubump, and for anyone I've forgotten to name-check (don't take it personally, please!). And we pray for those who read and pray but don’t post, for those who need our prayers but are afraid or too uncertain to post them, and for all those known to us in our own lives who need God’s love.

May God bless us all in 2014.

Praying.

DH and I are starting the Marriage Course this evening. I saw that a church I go to regularly-ish if not often were going to run it a few weeks after someone on this thread suggested that we might find it useful after a fairly negatively-charged lead up to Christmas. I enrolled us on it after speaking to DH but now feel a bit apprehensive after he told me the other day that he doesn't know what it is or why we are going but that he's going along with it because I want to. Sigh! Sometimes I feel as if I'm speaking to a wall who makes all the right noises but doesn't take it in.

Dutchoma · 16/03/2014 14:06

Praying for you and your DH Gingercurl. Praying that he will see why you want to go and that he will take something away from it.

BlessedAssurance · 16/03/2014 15:37

Tuo dearest, thank you for that lovely prayer. It is exactly what the doctor ordered.
Gingercurl praying for you and DH. I pray for a breakthrough and that things will be better.
Zing keeping fingers crossed for you.
Muser that is horrible. Praying for this little one and the ones who are taking care of him. May the Lord watch him and care for his family through this trying time.
Tribble praying that God will take away your fear. You will do fine and it will be over before you know it.
Badvoc and Juggling so sad for your loss.Thanks.

Oma i took your advice. Before that call came i had been baking muffins for my Dd's birthday so after posting on here and being comforted i went back to baking and playing my gospel chunes loudly and dancing with my child. Later i spoke to my mum who said some wise things as always and one thing she said was i was not to send any money but to wait for her to join dad, assess the situation and if there was any need then she would let me know. I felt very peaceful after that and i just felt all the hatred melting away.

Last night God brought to my attention situations that i had not been aware of. Each time my sis called it is an emergency. That means more pressure on me and my first reaction to her "emergencies" has always been to send money, which she would then get hold of before it reaches my parents. Same this time. I realised that God is and has always be on my side, i am and was just stupid. The Holy Spirit made me aware of another thing, that feeling guilty for having been blessed whilst sharing the little that i have was not a Godly feeling. God would never make me feel bad. That was the work of the enermy and from now His advice was "be wise in issues regarding money" and i will be. I think God was looking forward to hearing from me because we had a chat early this morning while our neighbour who is normally quiet was making the loudest noise we have ever heard. As i drifted off to sleep, the neighbour went quietSmile so i felt this was a devine appointment.

Thank you everyone for your prayers and it was the kindness of some lovely people here that i did not break in to last friday. Oma,Bes and the others thank you.

Dutchoma · 16/03/2014 17:25

Good for you BlessedAssurance I am sure that you are honouring God with your decisions. Commit your sister to the Lord, forgive her and keep praying for her. We heard a very powerful sermon on forgiveness this morning from a visiting preacher; he said things that cut really deep. I wasn't in church but was listening live on line.

BlackeyedSusan · 16/03/2014 17:34

praying for muser's little one
for badvoc and juggling
for DO
for finances for mission for pa
for faith.

oh dear. i snapped. i have written to church telling them that their sermons are about as useful as a chocolate teapot given their systems actively work to prevent involvement with the church. oops. oh well. it certainly can not make my relationship with them worse as there is hardly a relationship at all.. they have promised to look at things and have not.

muser31 · 16/03/2014 19:19

thank you he is my friends child.... they still dont know how he will be yet please keep praying thanks he still on machine in coma

amberlight · 16/03/2014 19:44

Praying...

BlessedAssurance · 16/03/2014 20:07

Oma funny what you say about forgiveness. After church i called home and spoke to mum, she handed the phone over to my sis and i was surprised that the hostility of yesterday was gone. I have decided that it is up to me to maintain my own happiness. My sis will say or do something and not care, how i react is another thing. I only have one sis and i love her but boy does she piss me offSmile..Yesterday i did not like her though...

CharlotteCollins · 16/03/2014 20:49

How frightening, muser. Praying for him and his family.

BES, they really do seem a test of patience. Such a shame that God's people can be so un-Christlike. Mind you, I suppose I often am too, so I shouldn't judge others. Praying for RL support for you, God's love in action.

Dutchoma · 16/03/2014 21:15

I have heard from Jan. Se has not been well and is also still struggling with her marriage. Dd has been a bit of a handful and she has had no energy for anything except the most essential things
She has said she will try and come back to the prayer board soon as she has missed us all.

BlackeyedSusan · 16/03/2014 21:15

they preached on bearing with people... so I gave them something to bear with. Grin

Dutchoma · 16/03/2014 21:17

Don't tell Amber. She will start seeing bears everywhere.

Tunnocks, praying.

BlackeyedSusan · 17/03/2014 01:04

I have done enough in the kitchen for the engineer to come and look at the fridge. I need to finish tidying the hall and stairs though. going to give up for tonight and go to bed.

Tuo · 17/03/2014 02:41

Oops... it's stupid o'clock and I've been desperately trying to do all I need to do to prepare for tomorrow. I'm giving up and going to bed now.

Flying by again, then, to pray for tunnocksteacake and for all those affected by cancer or other serious or long-term illness. I pray that God, who suffered with us and for us, may be with them in their suffering and may calm their fears. I pray for those who are ill and for those who care for them - their families and friends and the medical teams responsible for their treatment - may God's love surround them all.

For St Patrick's Day, here is a little bit of 'St Patrick's breastplate', for those affected by illness, and for us all, in all our trials and tribulations, however small.

Christ with us,
Christ before us,
Christ behind us,
Christ in us,
Christ beneath us,
Christ above us,
Christ on our right,
Christ on our left,
Christ when we lie down,
Christ when we sit down,
Christ when we arise,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of us,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of us,
Christ in every eye that sees us,
Christ in every ear that hears us. Amen

someone nearly had to have a phone surgically removed as they left it in their pocket with the alarm on.

CharlotteCollins · 17/03/2014 08:52

Argh! To wake you up before you needed to be awake? I hate it when that happens!! (Or I used to, in the days it did.)

Tunnocks, that sounds really tough. I was thinking the other day how difficult it must be for families with children still at home where a parent has cancer. Prayers for God's strength to get you through each day and his Spirit of peace to rest on your household.

Dutchoma · 17/03/2014 09:00

Tunnocks I have not stopped praying for you since you first started posting. Thank you for sending some directions in which that prayer needs to go now. Your DH is secure in the hands of the Lord, whether he acknowledges or not.

ZingSweetCoconut · 17/03/2014 11:15

I need help to stay calm and peaceful today.

5 hours to go and we'll know if chain is complete or not. I so want a yes.
we could then move just after Easter.
I find it really hard to stay calm.

praying for all of you.

BlackeyedSusan · 17/03/2014 12:40

you know the ice caps are melting? well they are not. they have come to live in the back of my freezer. there was solid ice behind the back panel of the freezer. a lot of ice. we may get aphone call to fit a replacement panel at the back. we may not. Hmm

I still have ice melting in the sink an hour later. even after he poured half a kettle of boiling water over the panel and ice to melt it. I have been wiping out drawers and freezer and fridge since he has been.

ZingSweetCoconut · 17/03/2014 13:30

Thanks for all who prayed and mostly to God - the answer is YES!

our sellers offer was accepted so chain is complete.
and not only will we move but will be in before baby's born!

Yay! I'm so excited and happy!Smile

Dutchoma · 17/03/2014 13:54

Oh praise the Lord Zing. So happy for you.

ZingSweetCoconut · 17/03/2014 14:39
