Welcome to our new prayer thread for 2014. This is a safe and supportive place of prayer, where regulars, occasional visitors and lurkers, committed Christians and those just dipping a toe into the water are all equally welcome. Come and leave a prayer, tell us what’s going on in your life, bring your worries, hopes, fears and joys to God, and know that you will be prayed for.

We pray, in particular, for...

... amberlight, for her work raising awareness of autism in churches, and for her to know love and acceptance wherever she goes;

... Badvoc and her family, as they grieve for her dad; prayers too for her aunt who is seriously ill; and prayers for a good recovery from her gallstones operation;

... BananasForTed, praying for her mental health and for her difficult work situation, and also praying that she was able to go back to her church and that she found support there;

... BlackEyedSusan, for all the many things which she has to juggle in her life as a single parent; in particular, we pray for her mum's health, and for both her DC to receive the support that they need at school;

... BlessedAssurance, when she feels challenged because of her faith at her place of work; also for her pregnancy and for her eye problems;

... BoxOfDelights, for her to find somewhere good to live and a job;

... bountyicecream, thanking God for her renewed happiness after leaving a very difficult and abusive relationship, and praying that she will continue to grow in happiness and strength in the future;

... CharlotteCollinsisinherownplace, giving thanks for her new home and new job;

... Don'tsteponthemomeraths, thanking God that an MRI has shown her brain to be normal, and for the continued progress of her niece, little Grace, born prematurely;

... DutchOma and Bob, for Bob's health to be as stable as possible and for him to receive good care in the hospice; also praying for him to see some glimpses of light in what is, admittedly, a very difficult situation, so that his outlook may be less 'catastrophic'; and praying for Oma that she may find rest and peace of mind and support at this time;

... Gingercurl, giving thanks for the successful completion of her thesis and praying for her viva to go well; also for Ginger’s MIL who has been diagnosed with cancer;

... HadALittleFaithBaby, for all bugs to leave to Faith household; also for her neighbour who has cancer and for his family;

... JugglingFromHereToThere, for a job which interests and fulfils her;

... Kaykat, giving thanks that she is now settled and happy in her new home with her DS, and praying for her DS to cope well with his new situation and not allow his dad to influence him in a negative way; also praying that she will find a welcoming church community in her new place;

... MadHairDay, thanking God for a Christmas spent at home with her family, and praying for continued health in 2014; praying too for health and love and friendship for MHD’s DD;

... NeverKnowinglyUnderstood, for her relationship with her DS and for support for them to understand his anger and frustration and find ways to avoid it if possible;

... niminypiminy, for happiness in her new home;

... octopusinastringbag, thinking of her as she feels drawn to explore faith in more depth;

... PandaG, for her mum's health;

... PositiveAttitude and her family; in particular, at this time, for DD3, praying for a happy end to her pregnancy with no complications; also praying for PA's parents’ health, for her DD1's finances, for her DS's anxiety, and for PA as she awaits the outcome of a job application and misses her DH and DD4;

... revivingshower, praying for her back pain to ease and thanking God for her family who've been supporting her during this tough time;

... RoomForALittleOne, for her DD3 to stay well and to sleep well too, so that Room can get enough rest;

... RunRunRuby, thanking God that she has come to our thread and praying that her faith may be strengthened;

... SESthebrave, for all that she has to juggle in her life, with work and DC;

... SunshinemMum, praying for her and her family as they look for a new spiritual home after leaving their previous church; may they find the place that is right for them, and may it welcome them with open arms;

... thegreenheartofmanyroundabouts, for a more peaceful time now to recover from the hecticness that is Christmas, and for her academic work;

... weegiemum, giving thanks for her own better health, but praying for her stepmum and for Kat, who are both seriously unwell and for all in the family affected by their illnesses;

We pray also for all regular and occasional visitors, and those we haven't seen for a while, including: Bluetinkerbell, cloutiedumpling, EasyCompadre, FairPhyllis, fluffieduckie, FriendOfDorothy, GoodbyeRubyTuesday, harbinger and her family, JakeBullet, jan and her DD, ktef, LollipopViolet, MaryBS, notquiteagrownup, PloddingDaily, Soozi, thehorridestmumintheworld, trish5000, youretoastmildred, and zulubump, and for anyone I've forgotten to name-check (don't take it personally, please!). And we pray for those who read and pray but don’t post, for those who need our prayers but are afraid or too uncertain to post them, and for all those known to us in our own lives who need God’s love.

May God bless us all in 2014.

BA. What an awful situation, and I do sympathise. I have a. Difficult relationship with my siblings, more so since my dad died last year. There are no easy answers, but Oma gives good advice x
MHD...I do hope you are feeling a little better? Life can seem very grey when ill and in pain can't it?
BES and don't, thinking of you both x
Ds2 is still unhappy at school and i am finding it very hard. He asked me this morning "mummy what will happen if you and daddy die?" :( what must be going through his little mind after the few months we have had?
Have found the past few weeks hard...am missing dad very much.
My aunt is fading fast now, my cousins phoned earlier and she is having difficulty swallowing now.
I just pray for release for her.
I am too tired to be mad with God. I just don't think I care anymore :(

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 14/03/2014 20:59

Oh TUO that prayer is so lovely! Thank you so much. I'm going to print it off and keep it. Thank you for your kind words and prayers.

BES so glad your friend can help you and vice versa. God is so good.

Just popped on to see what I'd missed and I feel so blessed by you lovely lot Smile

Has anyone heard from jan? I'd like to know how she is.

Blessed - prayers for peace for you x

Tuo · 14/03/2014 23:46

Smile Momey

Quick visit tonight, as I'm exhausted and have to be up at 5 tomorrow. Was in London today for a meeting and am going to Ireland for the day tomorrow to give a talk. Praying that the weather will settle down as it's blowing a gale here tonight and I'm scared of flying!

Today's prayer is for BlessedAssurance.

BA may God bring peace, respect, and love to your family relationships, especially with your siblings. I pray for your dad's health, in particular, and for you to know that you have done all you can for your family. I pray also for your pregnancy, for you to stay healthy through these last weeks, and for your little DD who sounds like a poppet! Smile

Calm us, O Lord, as You stilled the storm.
Still us, O Lord, keep me from harm.
Let all the tumult within us cease.
Enfold us, Lord, in Your peace. Amen

Thanks for that beautiful prayer Tuo

As so often it's just right for me just now.

Please pray for my DSis who has experienced great sadness in her life this last week. (Regarding details I possibly feel it's not my story to tell on the internet, even amongst friends)
But please pray for her and her two daughters, and that they would be comforted by the support of all those around them.

Regarding my own plans I think I may just do a short course in listening skills running over the next month at my local Cathedral.
Just for now more ambitious hopes and plans for a new job are on hold.
I'm needed elsewhere.

Tuo · 15/03/2014 08:06

Thinking of your sister, Juggling.

Answer to prayer - weather at Manchester Airport very calm.

OP posts:
JugglingFromHereToThere · 15/03/2014 08:36

Thank you Tuo Thanks

Glad to hear it is very calm at the airport and wishing you a good flight. You might even enjoy the view up there in the clouds ? (I always do, but I know we're not all the same x)

Thanks to all for prayers for my sister. She has a strong traditional christian faith which I hope will be a comfort to her in the coming weeks and months, though she has many questions for God at the moment.
(As you probably know, as a Quaker, my faith is a little more liberal - pragmatic you might say. But I do draw strength from the beautiful prayers of others)

I only mentioned my own stuff there because if people are praying through the thread I'd want them to know that my priorities have changed for now as I seek to support my sister and all the family.

Many thanks to all. This is a very special thread. Thank you for having me x
And for your prayers.

BlackeyedSusan · 15/03/2014 10:21

we are off to aand e with dd. she swallowed a plumstone and we have been advised by 111 to go to hospital. I am sure a and e are going to be as impressed with the matter as we are.

BlackeyedSusan · 15/03/2014 14:54

we were in and out so fast we did not have to pay for parking! and yes they were not overly impressed by the 111 either. the thing is, if we did not go and something went wrong, after we had been advised to go then we would have had trouble. I shan't bother asking again.

Dutchoma · 15/03/2014 15:32

Praise the Lord that the NHS can get it right (sometimes) as in hospital waiting times.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 15/03/2014 17:17

Basically it's great that it went straight down bes and that after that there should be no problems (that's how I see it)
Free care at the point of need is something to be thankful for too, as I know after the last week (even if 111 service not always perfect)

Badvoc · 15/03/2014 18:27

My aunt passed away earlier this afternoon.
Thank you all for your prayers x

JugglingFromHereToThere · 15/03/2014 18:55

Ask her to look after my nephew in your prayers Badvoc ? x
We lost him a few days ago Thanks
Am sorry for your loss

CharlotteCollins · 15/03/2014 19:19

Praying for you and your family, Badvoc. She has been released. Flowers

ALittleFaith · 15/03/2014 19:31

I hope it was peaceful and painless Badvoc. Praying for you and your family. Thanks

Badvoc · 15/03/2014 19:56

Juggling...I'm so sorry. I didn't know. I will add him to my prayers x
I hope it was peaceful too, faith. She had suffered enough.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 15/03/2014 20:15

Thank you Badvoc Thanks
It has been an un-utterably awful time for us all, especially my dear sister.
Such a huge shock too.
I feel safer posting here than starting my own thread.
Thank you for being here, and for your prayers everyone x

TribbleWithoutATardis · 15/03/2014 20:52

Hi,

I've not posted on this thread in quite some time, but I'm finding myself in need of a bit of prayer support. This may seem minor, but I've got my first dentist appointment in a few years on Wednesday and I'm petrified. It's taken a lot for me to book this, and I'm working myself into a right state. Could you pray that the appointment goes well and that I won't need anything major doing. Ideally a 'see you in six months would be fantastic.'

Thank you.

muser31 · 15/03/2014 20:59

Please pray for an emergency ... little one year old in intensive care - he stopped breathing, was resucitated and is now in a coma. the next 48 hours are critical to see what damage has been caused and what hope there is for him... thanks

JugglingFromHereToThere · 15/03/2014 21:31

Thinking of you muser, and of little one x

Dutchoma · 15/03/2014 22:10

Praying for you muser and the little one. Is he yours?

And praying for you Juggling what a terrible thing to happen. Yes, stay with us, you can say as much or as little as you need to. Praying for you and for all the family.
And for you Tribble. No problem is too big or too small for God to deal with it.

BlackeyedSusan · 15/03/2014 22:11

Tribble, we pray for everything from dentists appointments to bereavements. There have been a few of both! some people are not so fond of dentists themselves.

Juggling and Badvoc. so sorry to hear of your losses. Sad May you Know God's everlasting arms around you helping you through this difficult time.

Muser. so sorry. you must be so frightened.

BlackeyedSusan · 15/03/2014 22:16

Muser, praying for the little one and for parents, grandparents and all who love him.

Tuo · 15/03/2014 22:59

Lots to pray for tonight

I'm back home but exhausted and writing this on phone, so please excuse brevity.

Praying for Juggling's sister and the whole family. I'm so sorry for their loss. Also for Badvoc and her aunt's family.

OP posts:
Tuo · 15/03/2014 23:07

Oops. Hit 'post' by mistake!

Also for Muser - praying for your (?) little boy and for all who love him.

And for Tribble - I understand so well!

Thanking God for safe travels these last two days and a fab day today. And thanking God for this thread and all who contribute to it. It is a very special place.

May God hear our prayers, fill us with his love, and grant that we know his peace.
