A new Christian prayer thread for 2014

Welcome to our new prayer thread for 2014. This is a safe and supportive place of prayer, where regulars, occasional visitors and lurkers, committed Christians and those just dipping a toe into the water are all equally welcome. Come and leave a prayer, tell us what’s going on in your life, bring your worries, hopes, fears and joys to God, and know that you will be prayed for.

We pray, in particular, for...

... amberlight, for her work raising awareness of autism in churches, and for her to know love and acceptance wherever she goes;

... Badvoc and her family, as they grieve for her dad; prayers too for her aunt who is seriously ill; and prayers for a good recovery from her gallstones operation;

... BananasForTed, praying for her mental health and for her difficult work situation, and also praying that she was able to go back to her church and that she found support there;

... BlackEyedSusan, for all the many things which she has to juggle in her life as a single parent; in particular, we pray for her mum's health, and for both her DC to receive the support that they need at school;

... BlessedAssurance, when she feels challenged because of her faith at her place of work; also for her pregnancy and for her eye problems;

... BoxOfDelights, for her to find somewhere good to live and a job;

... bountyicecream, thanking God for her renewed happiness after leaving a very difficult and abusive relationship, and praying that she will continue to grow in happiness and strength in the future;

... CharlotteCollinsisinherownplace, giving thanks for her new home and new job;

... Don'tsteponthemomeraths, thanking God that an MRI has shown her brain to be normal, and for the continued progress of her niece, little Grace, born prematurely;

... DutchOma and Bob, for Bob's health to be as stable as possible and for him to receive good care in the hospice; also praying for him to see some glimpses of light in what is, admittedly, a very difficult situation, so that his outlook may be less 'catastrophic'; and praying for Oma that she may find rest and peace of mind and support at this time;

... Gingercurl, giving thanks for the successful completion of her thesis and praying for her viva to go well; also for Ginger’s MIL who has been diagnosed with cancer;

... HadALittleFaithBaby, for all bugs to leave to Faith household; also for her neighbour who has cancer and for his family;

... JugglingFromHereToThere, for a job which interests and fulfils her;

... Kaykat, giving thanks that she is now settled and happy in her new home with her DS, and praying for her DS to cope well with his new situation and not allow his dad to influence him in a negative way; also praying that she will find a welcoming church community in her new place;

... MadHairDay, thanking God for a Christmas spent at home with her family, and praying for continued health in 2014; praying too for health and love and friendship for MHD’s DD;

... NeverKnowinglyUnderstood, for her relationship with her DS and for support for them to understand his anger and frustration and find ways to avoid it if possible;

... niminypiminy, for happiness in her new home;

... octopusinastringbag, thinking of her as she feels drawn to explore faith in more depth;

... PandaG, for her mum's health;

... PositiveAttitude and her family; in particular, at this time, for DD3, praying for a happy end to her pregnancy with no complications; also praying for PA's parents’ health, for her DD1's finances, for her DS's anxiety, and for PA as she awaits the outcome of a job application and misses her DH and DD4;

... revivingshower, praying for her back pain to ease and thanking God for her family who've been supporting her during this tough time;

... RoomForALittleOne, for her DD3 to stay well and to sleep well too, so that Room can get enough rest;

... RunRunRuby, thanking God that she has come to our thread and praying that her faith may be strengthened;

... SESthebrave, for all that she has to juggle in her life, with work and DC;

... SunshinemMum, praying for her and her family as they look for a new spiritual home after leaving their previous church; may they find the place that is right for them, and may it welcome them with open arms;

... thegreenheartofmanyroundabouts, for a more peaceful time now to recover from the hecticness that is Christmas, and for her academic work;

... weegiemum, giving thanks for her own better health, but praying for her stepmum and for Kat, who are both seriously unwell and for all in the family affected by their illnesses;

We pray also for all regular and occasional visitors, and those we haven't seen for a while, including: Bluetinkerbell, cloutiedumpling, EasyCompadre, FairPhyllis, fluffieduckie, FriendOfDorothy, GoodbyeRubyTuesday, harbinger and her family, JakeBullet, jan and her DD, ktef, LollipopViolet, MaryBS, notquiteagrownup, PloddingDaily, Soozi, thehorridestmumintheworld, trish5000, youretoastmildred, and zulubump, and for anyone I've forgotten to name-check (don't take it personally, please!). And we pray for those who read and pray but don’t post, for those who need our prayers but are afraid or too uncertain to post them, and for all those known to us in our own lives who need God’s love.

May God bless us all in 2014.

Just waving hello

Finally emerging from land of bed, feel incredibly weak but bit better

I lost it a bit last week, sorry. felt I was letting so many down.

But I know its just how it is.

Not been nice at all this time. I am grateful though for small things. Good friends, lovely family. God is good.

praying especially for tunnocks today.

Dutchoma · 17/03/2014 16:31

And so am I praying for you MHD. Glad you have emerged from the land of bed.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 17/03/2014 17:36

Am liking your St.Patrick's breastplate Tuo Shamrock

  • the end part of it has a very Quaker feel to it to me - seeing Christ in one another, and ministering Christ's love to each other too Thanks
ZingSweetCoconut · 17/03/2014 18:22

mad
glad you are feeling better, even if ever so slightly.

Oma

not quite packing yet, but as of tomorrow I'm starting to sort stuff and declutter.
and I will box & label some things too.

EA reckons roughly 8 weeks for moving date so we are looking at early or mid-May..
which would suit us as before Easter we are very busy and the weekend after Easter we have a prior engagement I'd rather not cancel.

we'll see.
another step in the right direction.

hope you are ok.

muser31 · 17/03/2014 18:56

BlessedAssurance · 17/03/2014 23:18

tunnocks my thoughts and prayers for you. What a sad sad situation to be inSad.
zing that is lovely. Congratulations and yes God is so so great!!!. Now you can relax and put your energy into other things like, the baby on the way..

Tuo · 18/03/2014 00:39

My prayers tonight are for the little boy known to muser - praying for God to be with him and with all who love him tonight, and for God to be in the loving care of those charged with looking after him. Continuing to pray too for tunnocks, for healing for her DH and for strength for the whole family, and for MHD thanking God for even a slight recovery and praying for her to be back to full strength very soon.

A prayer of St Augustine for those who are ill, worried, or in distress tonight:

Watch, dear Lord, with those who wake, or watch, or weep tonight, and let your angels protect those who sleep. Tend the sick. Refresh the weary. Sustain the dying. Calm the suffering. Pity the distressed. We ask this for the sake of your love. Amen.

Thank you so much for Prayers i don't know too much more except he is still not good and the doctors are meeting to talk about what to do next he is still on the machine. Please keep praying for a miracle

BlackeyedSusan · 18/03/2014 19:40

oh heck. we do not have all the equipment required for dd's away day with church. good job she is not staying over as we do not have the things required. nor can I print off the forms as they are not in the correct format for my computer. (cost issue) I am going to have to do some super tricky navigating. with the road atlas. joy.

at least ds does not want to go as it is £10 per child.

BlackeyedSusan · 18/03/2014 20:49

(hence my rant at church)

Tuo · 18/03/2014 22:31

Praying tonight for those among our number who are, or are training to be, priests, lay ministers, or leaders of any kind in their churches: for greenheart, for MaryBS, for niminypiminy, and all those who minister to others. May they be channels for God's peace, love, hope and grace.

Typing from phone so excuse brevity. Tiredness caught up with me today so have not turned computer on tonight. Praying for more energy and less of a sense of things whirling out of control around me tomorrow.

ALittleFaith · 18/03/2014 22:34

Praying through.

Kaykat · 19/03/2014 00:07

Had a frustrating conversation with STBXH I am used to wasting my breath with him but really his selfishness floored even me. When i spoke about him providing for his ds he explained with all sorts of bizarre and seemingly heartfelt reasonings why his top priority is himself.

SchrodingersFerret · 19/03/2014 08:39

Hi all. I'm still having problems with the lump in my breast... had a biopsy and am anticipating the results at the end of the week. Prayers very much appreciated xx

Dutchoma · 19/03/2014 08:55

Schrodingersferret* that must be very scary. Praying that you will feel held securely in God's hand whatever the outcome.

Kaykat so sad for you that the legal process is letting you down. You should not have to speak to him to honour his obligation to his son.

Tuo praying for you; glad to see a more sensible time of posting yesterday. Praying that you can be still enough for long eenough to let the world settle around you.
'Be still and know that I am God'.

Also praying for Tunnocks, Badvoc and Muser.

PositiveAttitude · 19/03/2014 18:48

I am praying for all you lovely ladies on here. Sorry, not posting too much at the moment, but I am here and pray for through the thread daily.

BlessedAssurance · 19/03/2014 19:30

Praying.

GingerCurl · 19/03/2014 20:21

MIL was taken very ill last night and spent the night in hospital. Her condition has improved during the day and she's expected to be discharged at the weekend. MIL is in her 80s and, I think, intellectually, the family are all preparing themselves for the inevitable, which will come sooner or later but as none them know God it is all very difficult for them all.

Tuo · 19/03/2014 23:42

Tonight's prayers are for Gingercurl. I pray for your MIL, Ginger, thanking God that her condition has improved during the course of today and that she is expected to be home soon. I pray that her recovery continues to be good. I pray also for you and your DH. How did the first session of the marriage course go? Did you find it useful? And I pray for you as you prepare for your viva. May you stay calm and feel confident in your work.

Also keeping prayers going for Muser, for Tunnocks for MHD, for PA and family, for Oma, for BES, for Faith, for Badvoc, for Juggling and her sister, and for all of us on here. Tribble - how was the dentist today?

Thank you for your prayers, Oma. I'm feeling nervous tonight about something I'm doing tomorrow, so they are very much appreciated.

A Celtic prayer for us all tonight:

Deep peace of the running waves to us.
Deep peace of the flowing air to us.
Deep peace of the quiet earth to us.
Deep peace of the shining stars to us.
Deep peace of the Son of Peace to us. Amen
