Everyone welcome - the aim of this thread is to generally chat about church life, or just gossip in general!
You don't have to be a regular church-goer, nor do you have to know what we're going on about!
It's not about debate, it's just about chatting

(plus, my friend who wants to be at the birth has given me a list of days and times when it would be the least convenient for her. I have passed the message onto Isbn. )

Back from my conference, half expecting nickel to have gone into labour - any sign? :)

I was quiet yesterday because no one else was around!

Oooh ... thinking of you. DD was 2 weeks overdue and it was so hard, esp when everyone kept saying 'are you still pg?' So I won't nag you. Hope it's soon, though...

I'm not well today so will be around. Have the dc at home as school shut but they are happily playing around so I can MN all day rest lots.

yes, everyone keeps going "ooh, it must be due soon!" and I go, "yes, 2 3, 4 days ago."

Hello all. feeling for you nickel - DC1 was well overdue (induced eventually) and I was mightily fed up with the 'still here then' comments.

Hope you got to rest MHD (like the name change btw).

We've spent all day in the city getting our visas sorted - we have permission to be here for another year - yay! It's so ineffficient and frustrating but it's done at least.

I asked DH about the Pontius Pilate thing, he says he thinks that it was to root it in history, a bit like Luke does with mentioning who was the Roman whatever at the time. To make it a historically verifiable fact. Also to emphasise that it actually happened because some people were saying that it was a kind of metaphorical death not an actual one. err he said something else too but I can't remember as i've been up a long long time... I'll try and remember and be back more coherently tomorrow

Millie - yay for visas! At least that's done for another year :)

MHD - sorry you're not well. Hope things improve quickly for you.

Lots been happening here and DH is stressed & depressed with work and wishing he could just leave. He's actively looking for other jobs so praying something will come good.

Millie - Thanks for asking about Pilate. That makes sense about it being to root Christ's death in history, yes. I can see that. And that also makes sense of the whole Roman vs. Jewish thing, as the legal authority under which the Crucifixion took place was Roman. Hmm... Very interesting. I wonder if there's also a bit of a 'naming and shaming' thing going on (which is what Nickel was suggesting I think), as in 'You thought you could wash your hands of this deed, but instead you are going to have Christians pointing the finger right at you for centuries, matey!'.

Congratulations on getting your visas sorted too.
