MaryBS · 26/05/2011 16:15

That "blessed unction" gets me every time, in that hymn...

MaryBS · 26/05/2011 16:15

Still praying, SES...

Hi everyone. Back from holiday but been lurking a bit (we always take the laptop and choose places with wireless Blush). Feeling a bit Hmm now though as we've got a crazy summer about to start.

Schools here break up on Tuesday and we kick it off with a big sports/games afternoon in the playarea for Children's day on Wednesday, then we're running five holiday clubs/camps on alternate weeks from mid June, with two weeks squeezed in for English (building/DIY) helpers at our youth and community centre project. So basically from early June to the end of August we've got almost continuous visitors (33 in total). And the small matter of three small DCs to look after.

I'm sure it'll be fine

Anyway, been praying for you all, especially SES - we climbed a mountain on Tuesday and I was praying for you all the way up Smile.

thanksamillion · 30/05/2011 14:56

have I accidentally killed the thread Shock or are you all just out enjoying (another) bank holiday weekend!

thejaffacakesareonme · 30/05/2011 22:38

SES - thinking of you for your appointment tomorrow

nickelbabe · 31/05/2011 11:27

enjoying the weekend, milly Grin

Had a very busy day yesterday building wardrobes then filling them with crap stuff.
(it's knackering! I miss being able to do loads of stuff without getting tired...)

Sunday was fun at church -the Reader's and his wife's 50th wedding anniversary.
I got the service book finished on time, and the service went really well.
apart from the fact that the electrician who did the PAT testing during the week managed to break the sound system Hmm (God knows what he's done to it, but it was working fine before he tested it!!)(when I say fine, it was pretty rubbish, but we got sounds from it)
It meant that the whole service had to be done the old-fashioned way. But as we pointed out to Judith - there wouoldn't have been a sound system when they got married either!
It also goes to show how the mikes stop people from projecting their voices properly - I can never normally hear Victor talking, but I could hear every word when he didn't have a mike....

anyway, it was quite fun and funny walking down the aisle to the Wedding March Grin
and confusing having two hymns together for hte offeratory, but it all seemed to go without a hitch!
and we had wine afterwards - I was only going to have one glass, but they had one left over at the end, so I had to drink that too.
I felt a bit tipsy, too, because I haven't drunk much at all (prob only 4 units in the entire time I've been pregnant!)

nickelbabe · 31/05/2011 11:28

Hope the appointment's going well today SES.

my prayers are with you. xxx

hotcrossSES · 31/05/2011 20:29

Oh thanks guys! You may think me silly but I actually postponed the appointment today until tomorrow as a huge meeting came up at work which I really wanted to attend. I figured another day wouldn't make any difference. So appointment is 10.10am tomorrow morning.
Your prayers and support are very much appreciated. We had a lovely weekend away in The Lakes visiting my brother and SIL which was a good distraction (didn't tell them what was going on) but now back down to earth with a bit of a bump with tomorrow's appointment looming.

Nickel - your Sunday service celebrating your Reader & wife's 50th wedding anniversary sounds fun

Milly - your summer does sound mad! Hope you do manage to get at least a couple of days to yourself!

Hello Mary, Jaffa, DutchOma, MHD and anyone else I've missed!

DutchOma · 31/05/2011 20:48

Posting on this thread as well for nyone interested:- we are trying to organise a meet-up in Northampton on either the 6th or the 13th August. All welcome. It's four years since we did the first prayer thread meet-up
In he end we will have to pick one day or another, but the more people can make it the better.

hotcrossSES · 31/05/2011 20:56

Ooh meet up sounds good but I normally work a half day every Saturday. Will try and see if I can get the one you pick off!

DutchOma · 01/06/2011 09:00

The meet-up has been arranged for 13th August at the Open Door Centre, Mount Pleasant Church Northampton, details to follow.
Everyone is welcome

nickelbabe · 01/06/2011 10:05

SES - I'm sure you did the right thing, taking your mind off it for a day.

Still praying for today.
Judging by the time, you're just about to go in.

DutchOma - not likely to be able to make a Northampton Meetup on a Saturday, but I'll tell Baroque by FB, cos she was on the prayer thread a lot.

DutchOma · 01/06/2011 10:57

Baroque, of course!!

DutchOma · 01/06/2011 10:58

And sorry that you can't make it, but very understandable.

hotcrossSES · 01/06/2011 11:53

Well no growth and no heartbeat. Bleeding slowed right down so ERPC booked for Friday :(
What I expected really but still trying to get my head around it all.

thejaffacakesareonme · 01/06/2011 12:18

I'm so sorry SES.

nickelbabe · 01/06/2011 14:08

Sorry SES.
:(

I can't imagine what you're going through.

nickelbabe · 01/06/2011 14:09

I would advise going over to the miscarriage board, though - they've all been through it and can offer support.

thanksamillion · 01/06/2011 14:32

Oh SES so sorry. You're in our prayers.

DutchOma · 01/06/2011 15:47

And in my prayers too, so sorry. Miscarriage is awful, especially in this way when it drags out.

hotcrossSES · 01/06/2011 19:54

Thanks (again!) everyone. Hopefully after Friday I'll be able to start moving on.

Nickel - it was actually the mc boards that got me started on MN in 2008 after my first mc. It was the best thing to come out of the whole rotten situation.

Anyway hopefully I'll be back to business posting as usual on here within the next few days.

nickelbabe · 02/06/2011 11:21

oh, good, I'm glad you know about them :)

take your time getting through this. (and i'm sorry it's not your first time :( )

big hugs xxx

nickelbabe · 04/06/2011 15:54

bump!

is anyone around today?
:)

nickelbabe · 04/06/2011 15:58

actually, I am! Grin

We had a lovely service for Ascension on Thursday.
It was an evening service, and proper communion - so it was like a Sunday morning, which was just really confusing Confused

we had a visting priest, who is the Curate at a local village church, and she was very nice - did a nice sermon etc, and was very willing to let us lead the service iyswim. She's never done a communion with a choir before Shock

It was tricky in the fact that when the PAT testing man came weekbefore last, he managed to disable our (rather rubbish anyway) sound system, and none of the mikes would work on Sunday.
then something happened on Monday for them to be sorted, so we were supposed to be back to normal.
They plugged her in with a radio mike before the service, but it made the sound system sound like an Air Raid siren! (but higher pitched)
and we could only use the mike on the lecturn.
so she had no mike and had to shout (which she definietly wasn't used to) but used the lecturn for her sermon.

It was quite funny, and it added to the joyfulness of the occasion!
