thanks for the chocolates! Grin

It would have been nice to have a lie-in and a day off today, though.

as it is, i can't be bothered to do anything productive, but my tummy/chest feels too tight. (not stress, I hope, but not making it any better)
:)

hotcrossSES · 19/05/2011 13:29

Sorry for "me" post but requesting prayers please. I'm 6+2 today and been bleeding since 6pm last night :(
Early Pregnancy Unit won't see me until Monday :(

MaryBS · 19/05/2011 14:41

Praying SES. Can't you see someone else instead? Monday is a ridiculously long time away - I'd be tempted to either get an emergency appointment at the Dr, or to go down to A&E Angry

madhairday · 19/05/2011 14:43

Oh SES, I'm praying for you right now.

I agree with Mary, can you go to A and E? Can't believe they are saying wait til Monday Angry

sending lots of love.

nickelbabe · 19/05/2011 14:54

oh, SES , i'm so sorry.
fingers crossed it's all sticking and it's just a bleed.
:(

I agree that you should go to A&E.

thejaffacakesareonme · 19/05/2011 19:57

SES - prayers for you and your DH. It's so difficult. I bled from about week 7 - 13 with DS2 and remember that time well. I also had to wait over a weekend to see the ladies at the EPAU but once I did get to see them they couldn't have been nicer. Thinking of you.

hotcrossSES · 19/05/2011 20:03

Thank you everyone - much appreciated.
I had to go and do a presentation for work this afternoon (talk about pharmacy to Eastbourne WI!) so went and did that for distraction and I also didn't want to let them down. Bleeding actually stopped for a few hours for the afternoon but started again this evening.

The EPU say they won't see me until next week as they may not be able to give me a definitive answer so early on. A&E said they would see me (and I quote) "if the bleeding gets so bad that it's running down your legs" Hmm

Anyway, I've arranged to "work from home" tomorrow so will just have to take it as easy as poss and wait...

hotcrossSES · 19/05/2011 20:04

Jaffa - that's kind of reassuring to hear your story. Must have been a nightmare for you at the time.

thejaffacakesareonme · 19/05/2011 20:54

I'm usually fairly highly strung but somehow I wasn't too bad at the time. The GP told me at the booking in appointment at about 8 weeks that it was not unusual, particularly if it was about the time your period would have been due (which it was). It was only when I phoned the midwife about 3 weeks later to ask if it was still normal to be bleeding that I freaked out. She told me straight off that it wasn't normal to be bleeding for that long and was apologising that she couldn't get me an appoinement at EPAU until the next week. Her concern made me feel concerned. The EPAU staff when I did see them were brilliant though and it turned out everything was fine. My wee tearaway had bruised the lining of my womb when he'd been burrowing in and that was the source of the bleeding. Good luck.

nickelbabe · 20/05/2011 12:27

jaffa - that's a shame your MW freaked you out like that. :(

I'm glad it was all okay in the end.
SES - keep a positive attitude. :)

nickelbabe · 21/05/2011 09:57

How are you today, SES ?

We had a new girl at choir last night.
She's never been in a choir before, and she can't (yet!) read music, but she loves singing, and she can pick up tunes well.

She seemed to enjoy herslef, and everyone looked after her.
I hope she comes back.

It doesn't look like she wants to come to church ,yet - it appears (she didn't go into much detail about it, she just said she didn't think she was comfortable with coming on Sundays) that she's not a church-goer, but that she just wanted to sing, and a small choir seemed like a good starting point.
I chatted to her after practice and explained that there was no pressure at all to come to services, and that if she just wants to coem to Fridays for a while and see how she feels, then it's totally up to her. and that she must do what she feels comfortable with.
She seems very nice, though, and quite confident, whilst a bit shy, iyswim.

madhairday · 21/05/2011 10:41

That's good nickel, hope she comes back, sounds like you were really welcoming to her :)

How are you SES, have been thinking of you.

Just browsing t'interweb for Harry Potter audio CDs. Had no idea they are so expensive and soooo huge! Had a bright idea of getting some to take on holiday (going camping) for whiling away the journey. May be visiting the library I feel. So much more expensive than the DVDs - I guess because there are so many CDs for each book. Do sound good though.

Apparently our house is going through to contract - all excited! Less than 3 months to go now, scary.

nickelbabe · 21/05/2011 10:44

oh, they are expensive!
the first one is £25.00. Shock

oooh, that is exciting!
Grin

I've posted an update about DH's medal on the thread I started in Novemeber - should be at the top of religion - "I can't talk to DH about this"
(i think I've told you all anyway...)

it's tomorrow!!!

madhairday · 21/05/2011 17:34

Where is everyone?

Oh I know, you've all been raptured Grin

thejaffacakesareonme · 21/05/2011 19:05

Great idea about reserving the HP cds MHD. They'd be great for our drive south for our summer hols. Anything to keep overactive DS1 amused. Are they scarey though? DS2 gets scared of Ben 10 and Scooby Doo so I wouldn't want to play them if he was frightened.

Good to hear you've got a new member for the choir Nickel.

Thinking of you SES. Do you have someone to go with you on Monday? I went alone but in retrospect wish I'd had someone with me.

hotcrossSES · 21/05/2011 21:18

Hello ladies! Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. No bleeding since late Thurs evening and would be feeling hopeful if it weren't for the disappearance of my sore swollen boobs! Will just have to wait for Monday...
DH is able to come with me thank goodness but he is away at the moment as he went to support Leinster in the rugby at Cardiff. As a result, this morning I was feeling so stressed and emotional about being on my own. The day turned out ok though.

This afternoon DS and I were at a wedding reception. There were quite a few people from church there. I know a lot of people at church but wouldn't really classify any of them as really close friends. Anyway, this one lady who I know through the music group (who is lovely but I've never really had the opportunity to get to know her properly) came up to me and asked if I was pg Shock I didn't really know how to respond and then my hesitation made it more complicated than simply saying "no". I took her to one side and explained briefly what was going on and she was so apologetic for asking. I told her not to worry and it had at least given me the opportunity to ask her for prayers. It was really awkward as she realised she should never have asked in the first place but she was so apologetic and supportive that in the end I didn't mind.

Nickel - your new choir member sounds great
£25 for HP CD???!!

MHD - great about the house!

Hope everyone else is having a good wkend. DH has at least said he'll take us out for lunch tomorrow after he's back from the rugby :)

Beartime · 21/05/2011 22:26

Hi everyone, just introducing myself! I used to be on Mumsnet a long time ago in one of the prenatal threads when DS was born (now 5 yrs old!) but kinda got lost in babyhood Grin. Anyway I am a Christian, living in Wales. If there's any rules for this thread please let me know, I just discovered it and it looked a bit long to read all the way through!

thejaffacakesareonme · 21/05/2011 22:56

Hello Beartime - I don't think there are any rules. Everyone welcome. Personally, I almost think rules would be a bad thing as I think one of the real strengths of this thread and the prayer one too is that people come from a fairly wide range of backgrounds and churches. I'm sure you'd be very welcome on the prayer thread too if you fancied joining it.

DutchOma · 22/05/2011 08:54

I'm so sorry the Saints lost. And that the saints aren't marching in just yet. Hmm
Hope your husband had a good time SES and that all will turn out to be well on Monday.

MaryBS · 22/05/2011 08:57

Welcome (back) Beartime! There IS kind of a rule where you're not allowed to like Graham Kendrick, but as a number of us do in fact like GK, then I guess it doesn't really count Wink.

madhairday · 22/05/2011 10:52

Hello Beartime, welcome, no rules here, plenty of silliness, plenty of support, join in!

SES - hoping and praying all goes well tomorrow - glad the lady from church was supportive.

Not gone to church this morning - have a poorly dd.

hotcrossSES · 22/05/2011 19:20

Welcome Beartime :)

MHD - hope DD gets better soon!

DutchOma - hmm well my DH was very glad that Leinster one. He had a very sore head this morning!

Been bleeding again here since midday so in real need of prayers for tomorrow, whatever the outcome.

Hope you've all been having lovely weekends!

Beartime · 22/05/2011 19:33

Oops I like Graham Kendrick lol! I'll try not to start singing Shine Jesus Shine Wink Thank you for the welcome :)

nickelbabe · 23/05/2011 10:04

not a good start to my monday morning, Bear Grin

welcome to the thread, but try not to worship Graham too much in my presence Wink

I'll just catch up with the latest then catch you up too....

nickelbabe · 23/05/2011 10:13

SES - :( for having to explain all that when you're still not sure what's going on.
Is your appointment today?
Good luck xxx

HP - £26 now with the VAT increase...

We gave DH his medal yesterday - it went really well.
I always record the services these days forthe music, and the presentation audio comes through really well.
I forgot to bring the recorder in today, but when I do, I'll put it on Youtube, with a couple of photos.
He was really chuffed, and he didn't have a clue what was happening! He was surprised when he got dragged to the front, but though it was just about his birthday, then when he got the medal, he was dead chuffed.
Grin
and afterwards, I was telling him how devious I'd had to be in order to keep it secret, and how long for Shock
so then I kept calling him Medal Man and he called me Devious Woman Grin
