MN Christian Prayer Request Thread: : Back to school soon

DutchOma · 29/08/2010 21:44

It's been a while since I did an update for the prayer thread; I hope that God will remember those I forget:

Thanks be to God for wonderful exam results for MrsCadwallader and for PositiveAttitude dh's new job.
Prayers for Jentlydoesit's DP to find a new job before the money runs out.

Several regulars on the thread find life quite tough at the moment for one reason or another, let's bear each other up in prayer and practical help where possible: CaptainDippy, M44 (whose very much loved mother-in-law died last week), PositiveAttitude, Teaandcakeplease, Madhairday, Blueeyeshadow, Shieldbug (please pray that all fibroids and cysts will disappear before the next consultant's appointment)

Special thoughts go to Swaliswan for the healing of her marriage and for a safe pregnancy and delivery. Also for Hermya321, it's getting close now, only a few more weeks to go.

We pray for the family in MaMoTTaT's church who lost a daughter at a relatively young age. MaMoTTaT will be better known as FAQ or ToccataandFudge,( how I loved that name)

Last but not least we pray for Amberlight in her worry about ds who is struggling with eye problems for which he needs an operation and who is also having tests for hormonal problems. Please pray for as good an outcome as possible, so that he can carry on with his A-levels and rugby. And for peace of mind for Amber, who really could do with the pressure off for a bit.

So let's give thanks to God for His presence among us and get praying....

I so wish I had the skills to debate things properly. Really worn down from trying to navigate a debate elsewhere on topics that are so important to get right. Prayers please that I learn...

madhairday · 28/10/2010 12:09

Just be yourself amber. It's not always important to be the most articulate debator, but to come across as a person of integrity and just as who you are is most important....don't let it wear you down too much.

DO - lol at gs - they do learn to pester quickly don't they.

Prayers please for a good friend of mine. She was rushed into hospital last night with a splitting head, sent for a CT scan and today is being sent for a lumbar puncture as they can't find what's wrong. I am worried about her. She is a lovely young mum, has a baby, she comes to my seekers course.

PositiveAttitude · 28/10/2010 13:25

Prayers for your friend and her family MHD, that she will get some good results very quickly.

I have just had a call from the hospital and they want me in for surgery on 13th November, its a Saturday. Panic has set in and it all seems a bit too real, a bit too close and a bit too ......everything for my liking. Please pray for me to calm down!!!

madhairday · 28/10/2010 14:44

That's good though PA that they are getting on with it. Praying for peace for you now in these next couple of weeks.

MrsCadwallader · 28/10/2010 17:21

Not been around much this week so missing the news - many many congratulations Hermya I hope you and little Asher are settling in well together :)

PA Prayers for you too, I do hope you find some peace of mind over the nesxt few weeks. God is with you :)

Prayers for everyone else too.

I would appreciate some prayer (again!) for closeness to God. I'm working very hard on trying to build my relationship up again (still?!) in the midst of a very very busy life. A couple of things have really spoken to me over the last few weeks and I feel that I am being 'told' to mentally slow down a bit and make time to enjoy my life more, rather than be constantly doing one thing while thinking about the next. Please pray that I will succeed in my efforts to do so - I will be much better able to serve God if I take the time to stop and listen to Him occasionally Blush. I am trying very hard to do so.

DO, IT REALLY SEEMS YEAR BY YEAR , THERE IS more and more of it around, and he mentions it every time he sees it in a shop. and i try not to go heavy on anything.

amberlight · 29/10/2010 08:21

I have experienced a totally surreal day yesterday, in which I found myself on another message board with some Christians and others arguing that they have the right to call people like me 'retards' as otherwise it's interfering with free speech, plus saying disabled people don't really know what proper prejudice is like anyway. Sad

It's days like that which put great big holes in my faith and my ability to cope. Was sent home from work by worried dh and staff. Haven't really slept.

Could do with prayers, because I've got to help with a big learning disability day next week and need to be on top form for that and for my family. And it's so soon after providing support to a family whose learning disabled son killed himself after experiencing bullying Sad. I just keep thinking about how awful it would be for that family to read stuff like that. How bad does prejudice have to be before it counts?

DutchOma · 29/10/2010 08:28

Amber please be careful of yourself, you are very precious to us all, don't overdo things.

Hermya321 · 29/10/2010 09:34

Praying for you all as I read through.

Amber I'm praying that God keeps you safe.

DO He was born on the 24th, so a day off of his due date.

Well we're back home now, in brief we had a bit of a difficult birth and ended up needing forceps (I don't know if I told you?) and have ended up with stitches as well. Towards the end of my hospital stay my iron levels really dropped and I needed a transfusion to bring them up again. I really didn't like that.

Anyway, alls well that ends well. Can you just pray that I have an issue free recovery and for healing from the whole thing. I know God was with me throughout the whole experience, I know it could have been a lot worse and I feel like he's been protecting me and that he still is.

Oh and if anyone wants to nosy, theres a piccy up on my profile.

DutchOma · 29/10/2010 09:46

Oh wow, he is so nice, just absolutely lovely. Hope you soon feel better, is the feeding going alright?

madhairday · 29/10/2010 10:30

Ooooh Hermya he is gorgeous, just scrumptious! Praying that you will recover soon and heal well. Glad you felt God was with you. I had an assisted delivery and it is important to talk it through with people and let the healing process begin through that. Meanwhile enjoy your new baby :)

Amber - I'm so sad to read of the responses you have had on the other board - very angry too. How dare they say such things about disablity in any form. I'm so sorry you've had to face that. If I were you I would walk away from it and look after yourself. Sounds like it's not really worth debating with people saying such things, as ignorance generally sticks. You just remember you are a precious and loved child of God and very important to all of us here too.

Hermya321 · 29/10/2010 11:56

DO Actually despite a shaky start with latching, we seem to be getting on really well. The MW weighed him today and he's only lost 2oz since birth so he's obviously getting something into him. It's quite funny really as he's a noisy eater, my DH can hear him glugging across the room.

gingercurl · 29/10/2010 12:12

Praying for everyone as I read through.

Hermya He's lovely! Hoping you get a speedy recovery.

Amber It angers me when "free speech" is used as a cover-all excuse for ignorance, intolerance and biggotry. I'm sorry that you came across it on the other board. Please look after yourself. Praying for you.

PA Good that you got your appointment so soon. Praying for you. God is with you.

MHD Praying for your friend. Any news?

RE my sister's job situation, she has been interviewed by a company who are very interested in employing her, but it is a bit tricky. THe morale at her present employer is at rock bottom. Two of her close colleagues, when they found out that she had forwarded her CV to this new company, submitted their's as well as they do not want to stay there either. The new company has interviewed all three of them and will only employ them if all three accept (to introduce a new area of expertise in the company). Hence, if one of them is reluctant, it affects all three, making it all very difficult. SHe has had no responses so far from the other applications and is concerned that, should this fall through, she will hit a wall of serious depression. Please pray for this.

MaryBS · 29/10/2010 17:33

Church situation has now happened. So we have to get on with it. Prayers appreciated please.

amberlight · 29/10/2010 18:01

Prayers aplenty for you, Mary...and for everyone else too...

madhairday · 30/10/2010 17:18

Prayers Mary.

Update on my friend - she is out of hosp and OK. They are treating it as heavy migraines as can't find anything else. Still horrible but thankful it isn't anything more. She was really scared with it. :(

Anyone else doing a Light Party this weekend? we're doing one tomorrow, just sorting for it.

MaryBS · 31/10/2010 08:38

Prayers appreciated for today especially, could be difficult.

No light party here, MHD. I took the kids a few years back to the one the Baptists run in the next village. My DS was left petrified by the outfit the pastor had dressed up in (he was an Irish lantern or something - green face and wig, green mask, green clothes), ended up sobbing his heart out and wetting himself. It was a nightmare! I'd taken them out so he wouldn't get frightened by the trick or treaters coming to the door!

PositiveAttitude · 31/10/2010 08:50

Praying for you today Mary. Hopefully it wont be as bad as you fear.

Prayers for me too, please. I am in a lot of pain now. I told the church secretary yesterday what is going on, she was fine. I also told the minister, who I work with on a day to day basis as I am church administrator. He said he was totally surprised, which I found very hurtul as it shows how much he has bothered caring and listening since the beginning of September. I hate facing people and will really try not to be the centre of attention, so I am hoping for a quick exit after church.

Prayers that everyone will be "fed" today at your services.

amberlight · 31/10/2010 09:03

Lots of prayers for each of you...

MaryBS · 31/10/2010 18:28

Praying PA. Maybe you've done too good a job of hiding it? He needs to be more thoughtful though, and maybe now he knows, he will be.

My news, which I couldn't say before today, and which I suspected might happen, is that my vicar is leaving. This is leaving me both bereft at the loss of a friend, colleague and mentor (yes I know we've had our differences!) but also with trepidation at what the future will bring. However I can also see that this move of his might be necessary for ME so that I can grow in my ministry. God's will be done in this as in all things.

PositiveAttitude · 31/10/2010 18:55

Thanks Mary, but I have just come to the conclusion he is an idiot .

Prayers for you in this time of change and praying that it will be a time of growing in your relationship with God, too.

MaryBS · 31/10/2010 19:18

PA, that is a statement of fact, and hence is entirely Christian! :o

PositiveAttitude · 31/10/2010 19:34

Thanks Mary Grin. I had put my laptop away for the night, but then felt guilty for posting that, so came on to delete the post, but now if I do that, your post wont make any sense, so I apologise for posting that very disrespectful post about our minister.
