MN Christian Prayer Request Thread: : Back to school soon

It's been a while since I did an update for the prayer thread; I hope that God will remember those I forget:

Thanks be to God for wonderful exam results for MrsCadwallader and for PositiveAttitude dh's new job.
Prayers for Jentlydoesit's DP to find a new job before the money runs out.

Several regulars on the thread find life quite tough at the moment for one reason or another, let's bear each other up in prayer and practical help where possible: CaptainDippy, M44 (whose very much loved mother-in-law died last week), PositiveAttitude, Teaandcakeplease, Madhairday, Blueeyeshadow, Shieldbug (please pray that all fibroids and cysts will disappear before the next consultant's appointment)

Special thoughts go to Swaliswan for the healing of her marriage and for a safe pregnancy and delivery. Also for Hermya321, it's getting close now, only a few more weeks to go.

We pray for the family in MaMoTTaT's church who lost a daughter at a relatively young age. MaMoTTaT will be better known as FAQ or ToccataandFudge,( how I loved that name)

Last but not least we pray for Amberlight in her worry about ds who is struggling with eye problems for which he needs an operation and who is also having tests for hormonal problems. Please pray for as good an outcome as possible, so that he can carry on with his A-levels and rugby. And for peace of mind for Amber, who really could do with the pressure off for a bit.

So let's give thanks to God for His presence among us and get praying....

Yes, in a dim and distant past I read the Gnostic Gospels. I know nothing about paganisim or Eastern religions although I am sure it would be interesting to know about it.
For better or worse, and I am not criticising here, but making a personal statement, I have decided to follow Jesus as 'the way the truth and the life' and to stick to the apostolic creed.
In a way I am lucky to belong to a Baptist church where there are no bishops, priests and deacons, but ministers who serve to the best of their knowledge and belief.
In the end we must all do the best we can in this life, but for me that involves accepting Jesus as Saviour because I cannot be the perfect person God needs me to be without it.

I've posted an update on my nephew just now on the antenetal thread I'm on. I would retype it but I feel really low and I'm going off for a cuppa as I feel rotten and want to cry.

You'll have to excuse a couple of rude words in it, as I'm feeling cross and helpless about it all. Sorry Blush

MrsCadwallader · 01/09/2010 19:30

Shieldbug - that's wonderful news! :)

TACP I'm so sorry things are so difficult. I'll continue to pray you your nephew and family.

Spiritmum your posts are really interesting :) A lot of what you say resonantes really strongly with me and I too feel that Jesus/God and the church don't always seem to have a great deal in common Hmm. Like DO though, on balance I feel that my spiritual 'home' is in a traditional church setting. I hope you stick around on this thread as I'd like to hear more from you!

A quick prayer request from me - I've had two job interviews / assessments in the last week for different firms. I Think they went ok, as far as you can tell Confused but I won't hear back from either until early next week. I could do with some prayers for patience and acceptance of whatever situation arises from this, and continued guidance as to the path that is right for me and my family.

DutchOma · 01/09/2010 19:34

That's really hard TACP, so sorry. Praying for all, including Amberlight and her ds

Evening all Smile Can't believe it is Sept. Can't believe school starts again tomorrow!!!! Shock .....

Grin Wonderful news about your lovely little ones kidneys ShieldBug!!!!!!!! Grin

Praying for your friends precious Newborn with skin cancer, spiritmum Sad So cruel & so hard for them Sad Do keep us updated as and when you can. So glad you came and "found" us and asked us to join with you in praying for the poor wee mite. Smile I am with DutchOma with "The Way, The Truth, The Light" stuff; but totally with you about church. The problem with churches is that they are full of "people" Wink The church we go to sucks - we want to go somewhere else; but really are rather directionless, disillusioned and frankly a touch pissed-off (Shock) with "church" in general.

Aaaah, feels good to finally get that out ... haven't really admitted it before; but I really can't be dealing with church these days ....

Hmmmm.

Hmm

Erm.

Right.

Continuing to pray for your sweet little nephew, TACP. So hard for all those who have to look on. Praying for a big poo soon ... keep us informed ....

I lift you up to the Lord in your job hunting, MrsC. He knows His plan for your life ......

Smile

Right, off to bed now .....

BlueEyeshadow · 01/09/2010 22:16

Praying...

MaryBS · 02/09/2010 08:28

Praying....

Please pray for DD especially as she goes back to school. And also for the meeting with the school I have later today re: bullying. Praying for all our little and not so little ones going back to school...

DutchOma · 02/09/2010 08:55

Well done Dippy, better out than in.
Hang in there if you feel you must, but otherwise, look around you and maybe try somewhere else. Remember though that you take yourself everywhere and there may be a 'niche' in your current church where you can hole up for a while till you feel more comfortable.
Joining you in prayer for all who are going back to school this week, especially Mary's dd. It's hard to remember that you are precious in God's eyes, when you feel that absolutely nobody else likes you. Hopefully you can stay close to her and she will feel safe in telling you of her worries.
My dd was bullied at school and never told me, just went off the rails. (Back on them now, thank God)

Praying hard for everyone.

DS has consultant visit tomorrow to find out if he's got a more general metabolic something that would explain his eyesight problems and many other things he's experiencing...really nervous...but can't afford to be.

teaandcakeplease · 02/09/2010 18:43

SIL came home this afternoon. She got to hold him for a whole hour today, total surprise, my brother and SIL prayed over him whilst holding him the whole time.

He had 2 hours of breathing on his own this morning too.

They have also agreed to give him her breast milk which is fantastic!

So some big answers to prayer there.

Keep praying for him for health, strength, appetite and peace whilst in SCBU.

Thank you

CaptainDippy · 02/09/2010 20:17

Fabby stuff TACP Smile Positive stuff .... Baby steps .... WinkSmile ....

How did your DD get on Mary? Did everyone's little ones do ok on their first day back at school / pre-school etc? Mine were fine & seem happy and settled when I picked them up Smile

BIG Prayers amber - hoping you get some answers tomorrow. xx

Fantastic news, Tea. So happy for her.

DutchOma · 02/09/2010 21:29

Wonderful news TACP.

OP posts:
spiritmum · 02/09/2010 21:57

Glad to see some good news. Smile

I'd just like to say that when I left my church I also had huge doubts about the intellectual and experiential sides of my faith - it was a bit of a triple whammy if you like.

I know church is tough sometimes but had I not had the other stuff going on as well I wouldn't have left.

One thing I have thought about a great deal is always looking for the Light within a person. Or maybe looking at them with the eyes of Christ, or looking for the Christ within...Maybe it would have helped me to step back and do just that sometimes.

TheDailyWail · 02/09/2010 22:40

Lovely news TACP

CaptainDippy · 03/09/2010 10:45

Morning Smile

MaryBS · 03/09/2010 11:22

Meeting at school went well, they had lots of ideas and strategies, and have also spoken to DD and will do so again today. DD said she had a good day at school yesterday, so that was positive :)

DH was Confirmed last night, and it was very special, praise God!

Spiritmum - I try to see people as Christ would see them, not to judge them if I can help it, and to show love even when I don't feel it. I am not brilliant at it, but that is my aim. I have to admit sometimes though I find it all a bit much, and wish I could just have a relationship with God without all the complicated human relationships too, but I guess that isn't really an option!

shieldbug · 03/09/2010 12:12

Hello lovely ladies!

TACP good news about your nephew. Still praying. It must have been so special for your brother and sil to be able to hold him and pray over him.

amber praying for the consultant's appointment. Hope you manage to get some answers that will be able to help your ds.

mary congrats to your dh. How wonderful. Glad your dd had a good day at school.

Dh and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary yesterday and had a nice meal out together. I feel so blessed at the moment and am so grateful for all God has done.

TooBlessedToBeStressed · 03/09/2010 13:45

TACP,have we met before?i LOVE banana cake, have been harassing people about making me banana bread for i can't bake to save my own skin,,

(accepts offered slice but goes into the kitchen for more)thank you

DutchOma · 03/09/2010 15:05

Welcome, tooblessed. Anybody can bake banana bread (if only I could spell banana - I know how to start but have a problem knowing where to finish), what's the problem with your baking?

I think that church is probably the biggest challenge to our faith that we will ever face, there not being a lot of persecution (yet) in this country.
But having to love the unlovely, to face criticism from people you thought should support you, to come across utter incomprehension of ability and disability - that is really hard.
Glad the meeting with the school went well Mary

Have you got a Good Housekeeping step by step cook book? You'll be baking in no time, that's where the recipe was from that I baked this morning for my SIL. I made her banana cake today and a chicken casserole last night and some brownies. Any excuse to cook Smile
