Sick of these XL bully owners

I’m just so tired not of these dogs, but the people that are attracted to them and how they behave.

My local area of Liverpool has loads of these dogs and most recently a lady got mauled to death by 5 of them that were kept in a house together. Literally round the corner.

Why aren't measures taken to prevent the unsavoury breeding and sale of these dogs, which clearly have no regard for the welfare of the animals or the safety of people? It is obvious that the average person is completely unable to guarantee that their dog won't harm members of the public.

Examples:

Neighbour who keeps two XL bullies in their apartment and has a one-year-old child. However, it's okay because they are only permitted in the kitchen. Dogs undoubtedly enjoy it, I’m sure. Don’t know what the father is thinking leaving his girlfriend and baby at home alone with two of those dogs, they’re absolutely huge.

A tiny woman who lives across the street has now made the decision to purchase one. He "stays by her side" as she very proudly walks him without a lead. The dog has jumped on me; he's still only a puppy but is already very strong. She appears to enjoy the attention the dog attracts and is proud of herself for walking the dog outside without a leash. My child was knocked over by the dog after it jumped on her. Once more, the woman believes it's all in good fun. There is no way the dog, who is only a few months old, will be able to be handled by her.

Another family on our street has two dogs, but neither of them can walk or breathe normally without stumbling. Both of the "hard" guys—father and son, I think—are exerting real effort and are literally being dragged by these dogs.

It is ridiculous. Moreover, I dread them.

They appear to believe that by frightening off onlookers, these dogs will offer them protection. The number of fatalities these dogs have produced and the fact that the same moron keeps purchasing them. I don't understand the hype because they aren't inexpensive either.

The owners love to have them off lead and then claim that "they are harmless," so i'm not being ridiculous.

Please tell me it’s not just be sick to death of this?

Are these dogs pit bull and staffy crosses?

I watched a video about them earlier after reading this thread and yes some are but they mainly seem to be a mix of staffy and American bull dog. Loads of videos on you tube. It’s like a different world! Most of these dogs in huge solid gold chains and being paid to star in rap videos! 🙄

Just searched the hashtag and here are some examples. They’re solid muscle in real life and pretty intimidating.

The XL Bully who killed a ten-year-old boy is shown lunging at passers by on street a few days before the killing:

I’ve seen this before. Just what the hell are these people thinking? No child should die because someone wants to appear “hard” ffs.

And the dog is named ‘Beast’
Y’know, like all responsible pet owners like to name their dogs

The stupidity and complete denial of owners is shown in these screenshots (from The Sun which quotes her idiocy in full). Her FIL dies in front of her but the dog was just playing…

My Goodness- The idiocy and denial- and ignorance of dog psychology here
The one that bit and caused a heart attack had been “ Hand reared” which is never a good thing, especially not in a large, heavy breed-
Dogs need their mothers and siblings to teach bite inhibition.
It’s so dangerous that idiots are breeding these unstable untrustworthy hippo 🦛 dogs.

Their UK Instagram went quiet few months before the death. The dog involved:

But in August a linked EU account started:

And yes, there appears to be a small child in the home.

I was thinking about this whilst walking my dog this morning, I honestly don't understand why this breed isn't made illegal. No one needs to have a killing machine and usually they are in the hands of knobbers that have zero control over them. We wouldn't have a tiger wandering around on a lead so why is this viewed as acceptable? The fact that adults have died from these dogs tells you how unsuitable they should be for a civilised society. I would absolutely hate to come across one on our walk, thankfully I haven't seem one in the flesh so far, long may that continue.

I walked our mastiff tonight in the local forest, and some guy had a large bulky bully breed thing with him, he asked me did the dogs want to play....I just looked at him and said "pardon?" He said your big boy can play with mine, I replied "no thanks, mine just likes to sniff about and plod along with my son."

Like fuck am I going to try and pull a mastiff and a bully apart if it gets too rough!

Why do people think dogs need to "play" with strange dogs?! They don't. My dog ignores all other dogs, takes no interest. He rather play fetch with me, or splash about in the sea/rivers with my son. Were his "pack" he doesn't need a random dog intruder 🤦🏻‍♀️

Horrifying, will they never learn?

MargotChateau · 11/10/2022 23:05

@SparklingLime I looked up the original Instagram, I think the breed should be banned, but I obviously don’t condone cruelty, their poor ears, huge floppy ears when puppies only to be cropped. Revolting. Special place in hell for those that breed for profit too. Grim.

Yes, cruel. I went down a bit of a rabbit hole. It’s a a weird industry. This is apparently fine? On a kennel’s Instagram (USA).

They look “Dead eyed”.
No spark of intelligence in those pissholes in the snow eyes.
Don’t blame you for not wanting to risk your pet with his potential child killer.

I wouldn't put it past some people

MotherOfWhippets · 12/10/2022 09:34

I agree OP and I like dogs better than most people (see user name).

I absolutely cannot understand why people would want one of these animals in a house with them.

As said by a previous poster - I get fed up of the 'it's not the breed it's the owner'. Yes - a lot of the owners that have these breeds are dicks - but have a Google of the fatalities by dogs list - bull breeds time after time after time. Then you get the 'well Jack Russells/Chihuahuas etc can be nasty little sods' well yes they can but I fancy taking my chances with an argumentative chihuahua than a 60kg monster with jaws like a bear.

These aren’t really “ Dogs”, more like Hippos 🦛 but with far uglier massive heads and jaws.
The dead eyes of these XL Bullies are what is concerning-
There is no soul or intelligence in their expression, they are like a Frankenstein’s monster created from the worst of breeds with one reason in mind- To kill and look intimidating.
Whippets are hardwired to chase ,Border Collies to herd, Spaniels to sniff.. All bull breeds of this type are bred for is to fight and attack.
