Can I draw your attention to this please ?
A village of 400 people in Oxfordshire, the government want to house 1200 migrants in an old RAF barracks nearby. No consultation and no infrastructure to support.
Before anyone accuses me of being racist, my family make up negates that.

I truly hope they don't only wake up because their daughter/niece/wife/girlfriend/elderly dad gets raped or stabbed, I really do.

It's like safeguarding has gone out the window in favour of virtue signalling.

As humans, we need to show compassion for those genuinely in need of help. However blindly accepting non genuine people and also putting their needs above the native inhabitants is wrong and certainly not compassionate to those that suffer because of it.

Do people think it’s ok because it happens to someone else?

I don’t think it is

There might be other places to access them if you need them. You can check here:

https://www.brook.org.uk/your-life/get-free-condoms/

I do not require condoms or lubrication, thanks.
If I did I would purchase them myself.

I hope they don't think it's okay! I meant that the danger might not be obvious to them until it affects someone they know/in their town etc.

I think they don't actually believe it is happening...

If it is reported people are quick to shout 'racist' ..

Suicidal empathy... only the problem here is that its likely to be someone else paying the price.

They should be housed in the first country that they reach, the ability to apply for asylum without being in this country should be a priority, especially people who are genuine refugees. Why aren’t these people, mostly men, heading for rich Arabic countries. Oh because they don’t want them or offer the residency and welfare benefits. I would be interesting to know how many people have broken into our country who just then disappear into the black economy. Why would anyone stay put if they can be sure of earning money illegally. Culturally they are so different from the morals that British people have had for generations. Culturally we are being taken back to the medieval times.

To the 32% who think that this is reasonable. What is wrong with you? Can you not see what is happening to this country? Why should patriotic law-abiding working people be taxed to the hilt only to see their hard earned money spent on economic migrants who only come here for what they get from the Government and have no respect for our law, culture, religion, women or children. All the amenities in this country are falling apart, we are £3 trillion in debt, and yet we can throw money at men who will not contribute anything to our economy.

And to those who are asking where these men should be housed, they should not be housed anywhere, they should be sent straight back to where they came from, i.e. France, to whom we are paying millions to do absolutely nothing. Or better still they should be turned around before they even land here.

This doesn't look like doing "absolutely nothing" to me.

Hoardasurass · 21/08/2026 15:57

Switchnow · 21/08/2026 13:11

None of that answers the question. These men women and children are here and they’re claiming asylum. Where are you going to house them?

Secure internment camps until they are removed, they are not true asylum seekers and its 99% men not women and children.

I think they do, there hasn’t been any answer on the price to pay for the asylum system.

I get what you mean btw but it’s a bit generous (in a kind not bad way).

For the third time of trying...

ETA: On the itv website, there's footage of French police prevent a boatload of migrants leaving a beach.

No idea why I can't post a link to it.

Is that the one on the news this morning? The migrants were throwing stones at the police?

@BoredZeldaI understand from your posts you feel strongly the system we have should stay, or you think we should go more even but do the crimes that occur not feature at all for you?

When you hear of the rapes or worse is it just ok that’s the price we pay for this system?

I don’t believe the system we have should stay. I think it is shocking that any person has to risk their life to seek shelter in another nation, only then to be treated as if they are sub human when they get there. I think it is ridiculous that it takes years for an asylum claim to be approved or rejected and in that time people have to live on the most meagre of rations in sub-par accommodation, unable to work to support themselves.

If we are to continue with our responsibilities under international law, and I think we should, we need to have more safe legal routes for asylum seekers, a more streamlined process for application, preferably one that can be started without having to come here first, that would benefit everyone involved.

When I hear of any rape, I am utterly appalled that women are still being subjected to this, that our safety is compromised by men, that we are still facing the same risks we have for centuries and it is accepted. Getting rid of asylum seekers isn’t going to change that, nor move the dial in any meaningful way in terms of the numbers of attacks being carried out. Anyone who believes it would should step away from the Daily Mail and stop falling for the weaponisation of VAWG to achieve a racist agenda. I’m not going to be lectured to about my safety by a group of men who statistics have shown are very likely to have their own convictions for domestic abuse. At one of our local protests, a female counter protester was punched and pushed to the ground by those claiming they were there to protect women and girls. Suggesting this is the “price we pay” for meeting our international obligations is disingenuous to say the least.

70% of asylum claims are granted rising to 85% on appeal.

A lot of people in this country can't afford basic things such as food.

Isn’t this an argument for increasing income support for low wage workers?

Those crimes are not nothing. The victims count. I don’t agree with you on that. It has nothing to do with the press, and I find it awful for the victims that it’s used as a way to dismiss them. I strongly believe Rhiannon Whyte matters, as do the women who were raped, or the elderly man or Belfast victim.

As for a streamlined and outside the country how would you deal with demand?

Look at Ceuta and 70k responding to the not accurate announcement there was a legal way to get to Spain.

How would you deal with similar overwhelm if application was possible in other countries? Can you go through how it would work practically?

Is it online or in person and how do you decide who gets a yes if it’s incredibly high numbers?

If they weren't allowed in... they wouldnt be here to rape.

Could you look those girls, women and now the old man who was dragged from a park bench and raped by an asylum seeker in the face and tell them that stopping their rapist coming into the country wouldn't have stopped them being raped???

Really? That’s some race to the bottom you are asking for there.

It's a well known metric for human needs.

But do carry on with your glib responses.

Meanwhile I'll add something I've just seen;

Dr. Naomi Wolf. 8 NYT Bestsellers. DPhil, Poetry.
@naomirwolf
In sub-Saharan Africa I was taken to entire camps of women who were raped so violently with both penises and objects such as bottles, that they were permanently injured. And these women had already suffered cliterodectomies and infibulation. People in the West have no concept of the sexual violence aimed at women in fundamentalist Muslim countries and in sub-Saharan Africa.

You think rapists who are aware of DNA tracing aren't?

It’s about 75% men. https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk/research-briefings/cbp-10590/

So secure places, like a barracks, but with the added rule of people not being allowed to leave until their application is approved?

They don't even see it as rape, so I doubt they'll be stopping to put a condom on.
