Can I draw your attention to this please ?
A village of 400 people in Oxfordshire, the government want to house 1200 migrants in an old RAF barracks nearby. No consultation and no infrastructure to support.
Before anyone accuses me of being racist, my family make up negates that.

A bit more detail on who carried out the investigation. Very good to see that it was carried out by an impartial organisation which is entirely neutral.

You understand that Labour is biased and not impartial too?
Ditto every organisation - everyone has bias.

I'd be delighted if it's not true. Unfortunately, I can believe it is.

It’s very hard for a woman from Iran to leave. The system you prefer is incredibly male centric and deprioritises women here too.

50% of the Iranians living in the US are women.
50% of the Iranians living in the UK are women.
More than 50% of the Iranians living in Germany are women.
50% of the Iranians living in Canada are women.

These are the top 5 destinations for migration out of Iran.

Male asylum seekers coming to the U.K. does not deprioritise women and more than having white males living in the U.K.

You what now? You think it’s easy for Iranian women to leave? Or women from Sudan?

The majority of people arriving are male and Labour will restrict family reunification.

Anyway to the other question, do rapes or worse just not feature or they’re an ok cost for the system you prefer?

Are you offering to take more where you are? Or is it higher already.

Labour also said they’d smash the gangs so barracks, taking your share and pamphlets aren’t really going to cut it.

Couldn't agree more, it's not enough. However, whilst people are still arriving, they have to go somewhere.

But yes, already in an area of high deprivation and was quite shocked when I saw the map showing how many asylum seekers/refugees/illiegal immigrants there are compared to other, more prosperous areas. Funny, isn't it, no one has a problem until it affects them directly?

Well if it is true, isn't it possibly a good thing? Most responsible people who don't want to risk creating unwanted pregnancies or catch or unknowingly spread STDs use condoms.

Are asylum seekers not allowed to have sex with other consenting adults?

hugasaurus · 21/08/2026 15:06

If anyone is interested, Denmark do keep proper statistics relating to sex offences and country of origin and it has been published previously.

Do one.
You are absolutely racist. You disgust me.
We live less than 1km from an army base that is now used to house refugees and zero issues. There is security and there is limited movement for them but they’ve put in play parks for the kids. Built a lovely kindergarten and language centre. It is good user of what was an empty site.

Not in the UK you don't. There are only two currently operational sites, one of which has had significant issues and the local police force has had additional funding in order to cope - the one most like the situation in Piddington. The other not so much, but it's only got 540 asylum seekers, so not comparable. And neither of them house families, only men, so also not remotely comparable to wherever you're talking about.

JHound · 21/08/2026 13:32

How does family make-up stop somebody being racist?

I think there's quite a degree of racism between different minority groups.

I have a Somalian friend and both she and her siblings have experienced several incidents of racist assault and abuse from Afro-Caribbean men; and a friend's Indian granny says appalling things about black people generally.

That is true. I’m willing to bet that despite posts on this thread most would object if Labour placed barracks near their area.

If in a leafy area they’d do as Piddington have and quietly sign something to indicate the objection, as 96% did there - a Lib Dem area.

You do know that "Iranians living in the UK" can refer to those who migrated after the Islamic Revolution in 1979?
Where have you got these percentages of sexes from? I can't find it anywhere on official stats, so perhaps you can cite your source?

Of course safe sex should be encouraged. However -

Why do they get them free, no 1, when native people have to pay for them?

And the great big glaring number 2 - especially when coupled with the 'Please don't rape 15 year olds as it could affect your asylum claim' leaflet, and with them being shipped in to villages in huge numbers - is them acknowledging they are young virile men who will want to have sex ...

(Edit - clauses reordered)

"Before anyone accuses me of being racist, my family make up negates that"

😂

What does your family make-up have to do with whether you can be racist? I’ve met racist people from all walks of life and ethnicities

Ohfloradora · 21/08/2026 15:16

LakieLady · 21/08/2026 13:53

I'm increasingly alarmed by number of people who appear very willing to lock up people who haven't broken any laws.

Makes me wonder what other fundamental human rights they'd like to abandon.

So I could jet off to any country I fancied, accidentally lose my passport en route, and be waved through on arrival without any sort of containment whilst the authorities that be check I am who I say I am? To be honest I’d expect to be held if I arrived anywhere undocumented.

Nowhere did I imply disrespectful imprisonment, I suggested containment pending knowing for sure who the person is. If I were claiming asylum somewhere I wouldn’t object to that, if I was put somewhere basic with the essentials. And treated with courtesy and fairness.

There is a way that asylum seekers can be treated fairly whilst at the same time respecting the lives of those who already live here. If the processing were quick too, the length of any containment would not be unduly long, again that is surely being considerate to the asylum seeker too.

... Plus consenting adults are not the problem. It's the unconsenting ones who we are worried about. Given the numbers, and the cultural view of women, very worried.

LakieLady · 21/08/2026 15:19

Datafan55 · 21/08/2026 13:34

And you're traitorously naive and putting people at risk.

These will be 1200 single MALES only, for a start. No need for a play park as no kids. What or who do you think they'll be playing with? Suggest you check out footage/reports from Crowborough/Weatherfield/Bell hotel in Epping etc where they're hanging around shop/car parks and hassling girls on the way to school. Look up sex offence rates per nationality. And ask yourself why the Ministry of Justice is actively seeking to hide UK crime rates per nationality.

It's not racist to acknowledge that many of these strong, young men, there alone and just men/no women folk with them, will be from medieval cultures where men are taught that women are second class, white women/children playthings, and sex with 13 year olds is normal.

Edited

I have friends and in-laws living in Crowborough and visit several times a year.

I've been into town 4 or 5 times since the asylum seekers have been at the camp and haven't seen or heard about girls being hassled or men hanging around shops or car parks.

It’s not all plain sailing is it with your preferred system? There have been horrendous crimes, some to men, but mostly to women and girls.

Yes.
Condoms are available to purchase.

Anyone can access free condoms if they can't or don't want to purchase them. As asylum seekers only get £49.18 or £9.95 per person, per week it might make sense to give out condoms if indeed that is what is happening.

Perhaps you would prefer asylum seekers or their partners get pregnant instead?
