No.

UniquePinkSwan · 19/08/2026 08:04

Of course there will be tax rises. It’s Labour

LuckyHazelFox · 19/08/2026 08:21

Loathe to quote the Guardian but they seem to be going for Labour at the minute.

You’re right.

Seems the threat of welfare cuts has provoked the ire of its readership….

Burnham comes to office promising to deal with COL. He brings with him some hospitality goodies and free staffing and IT equipment. It must be great for SMEs reading that, when Labour tax hikes have crippled their own costs. Expect more tone deafness to come.

Well that funny little link simply puts together snippets of things mentioned as possibilities and includes things that will replace current taxes and debt such as graduate tax - also tourism tax which is a great revenue raiser and already works in other countries.

Seems a bit rage baity to me - plus we need to raise money from somewhere if we are going to fix things - austerity caused a lot of damage

It’s not “going for Labour”. It’s showing how political donations have and should be declared. It makes Farage look even shadier, if that’s possible.

No ‘rage baiting’, just a general feeling amongst many of us that we are punch drunk with incessant tax rises.

It's showing how tone deaf Burnham is. Coming in with a promise to ease COL while rubbing SMEs noses in it. Labour tax hikes on businesses while his own business interests have received freebies. Not cool.

I haven’t experienced a single tax rise in the last two years. Oh, I lie, our council tax has gone up - both the County and District councils are LibDem.

LuckyHazelFox · 19/08/2026 08:40

Oops, have repeated myself.

The donations are political donations, nothing to do with business.

Do you own a business?

Burnham didn’t do that.

BIossomtoes · 19/08/2026 08:41

No, but I'm not a Labourite saying I've seen no tax rises.

Would you like me to lie? I haven’t seen any tax rises that affect me personally.

Easy to do if you do not have much else to go on.

Then you won't need to sign the petition.

Lucky you, then.

Where did you holiday this summer?

Would people be happy with a petition that said no more tax rises and we confirm that we don’t care if education and health and elderly and disabled are left out to die and our soldiers laid off and our roads and infrastructure collapses ?

I wouldn’t anyway. If we want better services they have to be paid for.

What has this got to do with anything?

I’m on a low wage and haven’t seen a single tax rise.
