I've signed it.

If the cuts do ahead thousands of people are going to be badly affected (me included due to long COVID which has left me chroniclly unwell)

A society is judged on how it treats its most vulnerable. Here we are, where the most vulnerable are going to be made more poor. It will result in suicides. Many of my disabled peers are scared to death about how they are going to live.
The cost of living and crap wages are nothing to do with them.

So 'we don't care about how other people manage, and how they're affected, but expect them to care about us and champion and prioritise us!!' ?

Yes it’s this all the way

Again, crap wages and the cost of living is not the fault of disabled people. What is it with all this division? You could become one of us in a matter of seconds. All it takes is an accident or a blood clot.

What do you want disabled people to do, to prove they care about working people?

And similarly the shit economy, government cuts and significant increase of people claiming benefits is not the fault of the working population.

The wages are not crap. Taxes and high energy bills are making it not worth getting out of bed in the morning and going to work.
There's not enough people paying taxes but they still want the benefits.
My nephew was on £22 per hour at Greggs today. That is not a poor wage for a 17 year old.

Well apparently working people have to prove they care or they are 'fuckers'?

Sorry but I don't believe you.
Greggs wages are available online. Managers are on £19ph (£35k a year) Your 17 year old nephew is not on £22ph. No one at Greggs is on that much.

They have, it’s been deleted

WeylandYutani · 21/04/2025 21:25

Well, if it has been deleted then there is no point in refering to it. It is gone and not relevant.

CaptainFuture · 21/04/2025 21:29

Of course its relevant, if someone's calling people 'fuckers' they're not eloquently helping their case are they?

But the comment is gone. People new to the thread will have no idea what you are on about.

QuestionableMouse · 21/04/2025 21:41

All of you being snotty, tell me, could you live on £400 a month? Because that's what I'll have to live on if I lose my LCWRA.

£400 a month.

And @Yellowshirt I'm still waiting to hear about those jobs!

OP posts:

@WeylandYutani point is in your eyes I would undoubtedly be on the rich side. I send my three children to public school, have no mortgage and earn well investing a lot for my future. However, myself and my family put ourselves out as my parents did before me. I can’t tell you how much we have all paid in tax but eventually you find yourself at the point that if you are going to be taxed to the hilt you just won’t bother.

In my eyes? I haven't said anything about your situation.
Like OP, I am just scared about how I am going to pay my actual energy bills as opposed to private school etc.
You can cut back if it came down to it. Many of us have nothing to cut back from.

£400 in total, so for rent, utilities, food, clothes etc?
Or £400 a month after that's all been paid
Or £400 a month after rent alone?

Jinglejanglejangle · 21/04/2025 21:49

Yeah but the problem is that eventually you run out of other people’s money

Jinglejanglejangle · 21/04/2025 21:50

@QuestionableMouse why don’t you set up your own business? No boss, no restrictions. Do what you can when you can. You said you had a job for long enough so you must have skills to sell

Julen7 · 21/04/2025 21:52

73% say OP is being unreasonable according to poll. So guess 73% will not be signing the petition to further tax the rich. At least some sense on here.

Yes, that is what we will be expected to live on.
£400 for bills, council tax, food, clothing, transport, and if you private rent then the shortfall if your LHA rate is too low.

Could you live on £400 per month?

you can cut back down
Again with the telling other people what should be done with their wages.
Cut down on things for you and your family! Pay more tax! Give it away and be glad about it!

If you are a high tax payer, then you are not going to become destitute if you had to pay more.
Please stay humble though. You could be us one day.

If you are going to be that pissed off and leave then that is the sort of words someone that has £millions will say, and we will never see eye to eye on that as I am the total opposite end of the scale.
