Petition to Stonewall

New petition launched calling on Stonewall to:

• Acknowledge that there are a range of valid viewpoints around sex, gender and transgender politics

• Acknowledge specifically the conflict that exists between transgenderism and sex-based women’s rights

• Commit to fostering an atmosphere of respectful debate, rather than demonising as transphobic those who wish to discuss or dissent from Stonewall’s current policies

Ruth Hunt should resign. On her watch Stonewall has gone from a credible well respected organisation to one that is synonymous with serious misogyny and homophobia.

And I do wonder, if, in the end, Stonewall will go the way of Kids Company. So many fingers in so many dodgy pies, yet so much reverence by people in power.

And Stonewall dwarfs Kids Company in terms of reach and finance. Their fall, if it occurs, will be spectacular.

I agree. And I think it's the leadership being drawn from elite social closure via the pomo-ridden liberal academy that is the biggest problem. So I'm not confident this will happen. These people are unable to reflect on their own failures, and it's this that has led us into a corporate third sector that does not represent its service users. Indeed, is often actually harmful to its service users.

I think it’s really important not to let the Stonewall Trustees off the hook. In charity governance terms, they set the agenda and the executive (led by CEO Ruth Hunt) are simply paid to go off and fulfil it.

A change of CEO, is significant but unless there is a commitment to a change of policy among the Chair of Trustees signed up to by all of the Trustees- is not effective alone.

They should all consider their positions.

Today I'm going to be complaining to the charities commission about stonewall and their link to the youtube video encouraging primary-aged children to fill in the GRA consultation.

They have strayed into dangerous territory, under cover of their status as a respected organisation. As well as 'undermining women's sex-based rights and protections' I'd add exploiting children for a political purpose and undermining safeguarding.

That's the 'Digging my heels in because you're saying trans people don't exist' response.

Nothing at all in actual answer to what's been put to them. Just more shadow boxing and hefty amount of jutting out the chin defiantly. I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that there are people that it's impossible to communicate rationally with.

Rhonda I did think about it but sadly it's because of the nature of my work that I need to be careful. That in itself is maddening.
