Here we are on the fourth instalment of crazy misspellings, misuse of words and all the other topsy-turvy attempts at literacy from the illiterate.
Post your observations. Lady’s the flaw is youre’s…

According to a poster Norwich Castle looks like a wear house.

Could be worse! Smile

They're allover (!) the place: inbetween, infront, eachother, awhile, apart, afew.

I did a bad thing today and read a Metro article about Rory Stewart's odd behaviour on Newsnight. Apparently, "Stewart verociously swivelled his chair". Voraciously, veraciously, ferociously...? Who the hell knows!

Although I would imagine some of those can be put down to sausage fingers typing unchecked on a mobile phone?

But surely autocorrect would step in?

I don't usually comment about grammar on a thread but I will if a poster claims to be a teacher. I used to be a teacher and would have pointed out errors to a colleague. My old headteacher used to read every report or letter that was sent out. A couple of times she found typos in mine and once asked me to change a comma - I didn’t agree but did what she said. I have read some atrocious grammar in letters from my grandchildren's schools.

There was a teacher on a thread here a while back who insisted 'should of' was correct. She was rightly jumped on.

"I am an experienced teacher so I’m not phased by this however..." Hmm

Not everyone uses autocorrect, and anyway, autocorrect is not a guarantee that what is typed is correct.

AlbieJiggered · 27/09/2026 19:46

Does the general pubic use autocorrect?

If I trusted autocorrect my posts would be nonsensical. (Trusted was changed to trysted just then)

Seen on a thread, ‘politely snobbing someone.’

I didn't realise it was a typo (snubbing presumably) but think it's a wonderful phrase for outwardly polite but sneery remarks.

HopeSpringsInfernal · 28/09/2026 13:51

Another fine typo 'shoot protesters as a detergent '

I thought it was auto-correcting 'politely knobbing someone' which is an intriguing image to muse over...
