Here we are on the fourth instalment of crazy misspellings, misuse of words and all the other topsy-turvy attempts at literacy from the illiterate.
Post your observations. Lady’s the flaw is youre’s…

This was a new one for me.
and because they escalated to extream violence

The ‘hotel designers’ thread (which I otherwise commend to this house for detailing crimes worse than SPAG) has ‘buy Yegods’ in the OP. I assume it was meant to read but and/or by ye gods. Probably some mix of typo and autocorrect but how did ye gods end up as one proper noun?

FuzzyPuffling · 23/09/2026 14:45

I've just seen "Do not panda to him".
Yep, those pesky Chinese bear things...

AppleButterGutter · 23/09/2026 15:05

@FuzzyPuffling

You beat me to it!

Emptyandsad · 23/09/2026 19:58

On another thread today:

"We were walking past this cool bar and there were a dussin people standing around and a speaker in front of them".

I presume she means 'dozen'...

CaptainMyCaptain · 23/09/2026 21:53

Hair brained (a hairy brain?).

AlbieJiggered · 24/09/2026 00:04

As mad as a march hair?

UnPetitDunPetit · 24/09/2026 03:59

Can the hair brains be found near the fine toothcombs?

This one really annoys me....i find myself squawking "Fine- toothed combs!" at the tv subtitles quite often.

I’ve just been on a law thread and have seen people with “none law degrees” and people at the top of the recruitment tree advocating bypassing a degree “all together”

Whosthetabbynow · 24/09/2026 15:16

Who remembers the fairytale character Goldie Locks?

‘None’ is being used far too frequently when the writer means ‘non’ or maybe they don’t realise that they’re two separate words with different meanings?

Was that the one who encountered three bares?

‘feint hearted’ 🙂

Pinklightning · 24/09/2026 17:15

A dussin people. I’ve never seen dozen spelt any other way than the correct way.

FuzzyPuffling · 24/09/2026 18:38

I'm fed up with "reign it in".

AlexandraCarrington · 24/09/2026 20:16

Speaking of reigning, it's Philip and Anne.

It's not as if people have never seen them in print, and the 'e' on the end of Anne is noticeable enough.

It's getting to the point where I'm seeing Phillip so often I'm actually pleasantly surprised when someone gets it right.

AlbieJiggered · 24/09/2026 21:25

@AlexandraCarrington , also Meghan not Megan.

AlexandraCarrington · 24/09/2026 21:30

Yes that too. Although I don't see it as frequently as Phillip.

Remarkable that they were correctly standing rather than the more typical "stood".

SerendipityCat · 25/09/2026 13:37

From an ongoing thread, “the one criteria”.

Whosthetabbynow · 25/09/2026 17:20

Something else i see quite often is ‘any more’ confused with ‘anymore’

According to a poster Norwich Castle looks like a wear house.
