Here we are on the fourth instalment of crazy misspellings, misuse of words and all the other topsy-turvy attempts at literacy from the illiterate.
Post your observations. Lady’s the flaw is youre’s…

Rediculous. I see this abomination at least once a week across various platforms.

On the BBC website today:

"The plan for the Merchant's House is to turn it back into how it could of looked in the early 1600s when it was built," he said.

The privateer's raids on two Spanish vessels while under the command of Sir Drake, likely paid for the redevelopment of the Merchant's House into the timber framed building it is today, historians believe.

(Will be interested to see if it's edited.)

Just seen "the crop of the creme" on a current thread. Is that the same as the crown in the jewel? Or perhaps the litter of the pick?

Local Nextdoor app has some corkers. There is a chap who is being “emotionally amused” at home. Sounds a bundle of laughs.

AlbieJiggered · 14/09/2026 20:40

£5-£10,000 is quite a range even for a ball mark figure.

Whosthetabbynow · 14/09/2026 20:54

@AlbieJiggered My mistake. It’s meant to be £5,000 to £10,000 x

As opposed to under their hair, one assumes…

CaptainMyCaptain · 15/09/2026 01:58

Yeah or nay.

Yea or nay is the traditional spelling but yay or nay is fine.
Not seen yeah or nay before but would take it to be yeah like in 'Oh yeah', as sung by Bryan Ferry Smile.

Yes that's probably correct. I don't see it written down much.

AlbieJiggered · 15/09/2026 12:31

@CaptainMyCaptain , neither do I .

When I read, I make a note of words that are new to me and sometimes of those that I know the meaning of but have never looked up. A few don't quite mean what I thought they did. I'm trying to read classics and some look really impenetrable but are absolutely brilliant once you open them. I am not a finisher and have to force myself not to leave a few pages unread. Smile
I've even got a spare copy of the current one because it's not going to survive a re-reading. Only about 30 pages to go!

Seen today 'To all intense purposes..'
