Here we are on the fourth instalment of crazy misspellings, misuse of words and all the other topsy-turvy attempts at literacy from the illiterate.
Post your observations. Lady’s the flaw is youre’s…

Saw "it's so waist full" somewhere yesterday.

Certainly describes my waist accurately!

Luck of the drawer- on MN today

That's for when you are looking for that 'might be handy' item in the drawer of doom.

There's a tagline on offer on my local freebie site. It's chipped but otherwiselooks nice.

Whosthetabbynow · 18/10/2026 17:06

Love “luck of the drawer”. The amount of times I’ve been lucky looking for random items x

Arghh!

CrazyMidget · 18/10/2026 21:33

Sole-destroying 🤣

Also, "tow" the line, although that one's a little more forgivable.

AppleButterGutter · 15/10/2026 15:18

My daughter used to say "I am x, amn't I?" which is perfectly logical but wrong.

She also now says "whose turn is it to bring the children to bed?" which grates a little (to me), but tbf she has lived abroad for almost 15 years and it is the literal translation of her second language so I just shout "it's take!" let it go.

Do NOT get me started on bring and take!!! You can only bring something if you the speaker are located in the place where said item will be brought.

"I'm already at the hotel. Can you bring a spare charger with you?"
"Let's make sure to take a spare charger to the hotel."

IT'S REALLY NOT SODDING HARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@Whosthetabbynow

Sorry to be snippy/dense, but the poster who typed "cherrards" obviously assumed that they had spelt the word correctly. They were definitely talking about a game of charades.

You are the OP of this thread which you said was for "crazy misspellings, misuse of words and all the other topsy-turvy attempts at literacy from the illiterate". I posted an example of this. Am I not getting something?

Cherrards!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

AlbieJiggered · 18/10/2026 21:46

@CrazyMidget , are you feeling ok? 😆😆😆

Gonksmum · 19/10/2026 19:40

A letter I read in work today mentioned someone's "lively hood" being jeopardised.

I had a vision of something like this-

That’s a lively hood if ever I saw one.

See also bought/brought, and lend/borrow.

I was genuinely gobsmacked to see "brang" used in a thread the other day. I didn't think anyone over the age of about six used that unironically.

KhaleesiLikeSundayMorning · 21/10/2026 09:36

Seen on Reddit: “it is a miss and hit situation”

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 21/10/2026 13:42

It's the "Bayeux" tapestry, as written in the thread title, not some supposedly Frenchified version thereof. FFS.

Isn't it the 'Bye you' tapestry?

I don't watch BB. How are you seeing this written down?

I’m not. It’s what they’re saying so it’s not quite the same but still incorrect

Seen on MN today “ Taught manors” How grand!

AlbieJiggered · Yesterday 16:09

I have no manors.

Phad was gone a week later

Fad.

MagpiePi · Today 08:56

Not really a spelling error, but I find it amusing when 'bingeing' is written as 'binging'. Neither is wrong ('binging' is the American preference and 'bingeing' the UK), but 'binging' makes me imagine someone saying 'Bing! Bing! Bing!' like an electronic doorbell rather than watching multiple episodes of a TV series in one go.

AlbieJiggered · Today 09:11

Binging is when you listen to White Christmas on repeat or eat too many Charlie Bingbong ready meals.
