Here we are on the fourth instalment of crazy misspellings, misuse of words and all the other topsy-turvy attempts at literacy from the illiterate.
Post your observations. Lady’s the flaw is youre’s…

Ring, rang, bring, brang.
I remember the logical phrase construction phase too. Approx age 3.

We're bilingual so getting the gender was curious.
The logic of the first language grammar was applied to the second language.
When speaking the second language, any missing vocab was borrowed from the first.

My daughter used to say "I am x, amn't I?" which is perfectly logical but wrong.

She also now says "whose turn is it to bring the children to bed?" which grates a little (to me), but tbf she has lived abroad for almost 15 years and it is the literal translation of her second language so I just shout "it's take!" let it go.

“I wouldn’t trust him as far as I could through him”

A friend of mine in primary school used to say ‘thrun’ as the past tense of throw. I suppose it was a weird pronunciation of thrown but no one else I’ve ever come across has pronounced it that way.

My Northumbrian mum used to say 'amn't I'. It's dialect. I think it's still in use in some parts of Scotland, but I could be wrong.

Edited for typo

Just read a post where the poster says that a guy is a cereal cheat. Does he steal someone’s cornflakes?

AlbieJiggered · 15/10/2026 22:59

No it was Cheerios.

My mum used to say amn’t - she was South African. It seemed logical to me as it is a contraction of am not, similar to haven’t for have not, or can’t for can not.

He’ll be doing porridge if he gets caught.

And if it's not abbreviated, one can use "am" in the negative

"I'm correct, am I not? "

@LeftBoobGoneRogue @AlbieJiggered and @MagpiePi 👏👏👏🤣

I just came across a nice example of the fairly uncommon “it’s a mute point” on another thread. Not seen one for ages!

LeftBoobGoneRogue · 16/10/2026 17:46

Saw a post earlier about sewing the seeds of doubt.

Agoddessonamountaintop · 17/10/2026 10:14

Someone’s been tempting fait this morning.

mumumental · 17/10/2026 10:15

Just read a thread about food shopping. Someone posted that the ready meals from Charlie BingBong are quite nice. Excellent autocorrect!

AlbieJiggered · 17/10/2026 14:12

I'd be tempted to buy a Charlie Bingbong.

Whosthetabbynow · 17/10/2026 15:07

😂😂😂 I’m cracking up

It makes a certain kind of sense like ring/rang but I never heard in 30 years teaching. It was more likely to be bringed or brung or a confusion with brought/bought.

Edited

You ain’t been brung up proper, then!

SerendipityCat · 17/10/2026 17:40

An interesting one on a thread to do with workplace banter, and I quote exactly -

"Hay its bance"

Took me a while as it's a hideous word I seldom use, but I presume they mean "bants". Quite an achievement to get all three words wrong, as well!

Allseeingallknowing · 17/10/2026 19:31

Luck of the drawer- on MN today

Gonksmum · 17/10/2026 20:19

Saw "it's so waist full" somewhere yesterday.
