A Viscous attack # 2

Catpiece · 15/08/2025 11:23

Is it okay for me to start a second thread of the highly entertaining viscous attack? Couldn’t see a sequel and don’t want to step foot on anyone’s toes
edited to add: I’m Cattery but with a name change x

@paulb2017 I’m going to let the cab company have that one as it could actually be a clever play on words x

Same here, @Catpiece .

TerminalMoraine · 25/08/2025 21:01

@AsanteSanasurely it was a carnivorous forest?

ACatAsleepInYourHat · 26/08/2025 12:07

Another interesting one spotted today on a current thread, “bomb boarding” someone with messages. I actually quite like it, oddly.

Pieceofpurplesky · 26/08/2025 12:13

On a thread this morning 'praps he meant something different'

Yes, that's a strong metaphor.

I e just read on here a post “When I was learning DS to drive….”

I think that counts as dialect usage. I had a friend who went to teach English as a second language in Sweden, and met, to her interest, the equivalent in Swedish. It occurs in Wind in the Willows when Badger says he'll "learn them weasels and stoats".

Judiezones · 26/08/2025 12:39

I've posted this before, but it's my favourite.
I got an email complaining about someone, but with this phrase - "but give her a jew....."

DeanStockwelll · 26/08/2025 12:41

millymollyminging · 25/08/2025 17:52

There is this company near me. I genuinely can’t believe this isn’t deliberate. If it is, it makes them look really stupid, if it’s not they really should have been told by SOMEONE before plastering it all over their vans…

stone affects paving supplies ltd

If you drop the Ltd the sentence could be a news headline ,
Stone affects paving supplies, a vandal has left a large stone on this paving companies loading bay so they are temporarily unable to supply their customers.

One that I have seen on mn frequently is 'recommend me a book / dress / sofa'
No , I am not going to recommend you to a book , the book can go out and find its own reader.

Shylock perhaps?

I think that counts as dialect usage. I don't.

Oh my god 😱!

MzHz · 26/08/2025 14:42

Saw a thread today where someone was saying she hadn’t bomb boarded anyone 😆

TerminalMoraine · 26/08/2025 23:21

Just seen a PP having baked potato’s and spaghetti bolognaise for dinner this week.

CalzoneOnLegs · 27/08/2025 03:27

’I’ve just seen ‘fallen fowl’ on a thread…

🦆

TheaBrandt1 · 27/08/2025 07:56

“The kids live with their retrospective dads”

Wrong but also sort of right

Catpiece · 27/08/2025 10:06

@TheaBrandt1 Indeed 😂 It’s actually quite an art to get that so wrong but so spectacularly…right

Just seen this one, not for the first time, on social media. "A fine toothcomb". Who combs their fucking teeth?!

MagpiePi · 27/08/2025 11:34

I have just seen 'Shes especially fond of you gest's pillow.' in a thread today.

CalzoneOnLegs · 27/08/2025 13:54

@MagpiePi I am purr plecks at that one - sorry 🤣

CalzoneOnLegs · 27/08/2025 13:56

@MagpiePi as in ‘guest’ ? Is my guesst

MagpiePi · 27/08/2025 13:59

@CalzoneOnLegs
I assume it is supposed to read 'She's fond of, you guessed's, pillow'. It was in a post talking about a cat, the 'she' in the sentence, and a child, the 'you guessed', in the sentence.

Catpiece · 27/08/2025 14:17

I’ve always loved the “fineTOOTH comb” error. There is a road called Bronze Age Way. Often it’s said as Bronze AGE Way.

Today's typo from another thread: headonistic

I overheard DS when he was a teenager saying into his phone "Define hedonistic". The phone said back at him "Define head-on-a-stick" :)
