Is it okay for me to start a second thread of the highly entertaining viscous attack? Couldn’t see a sequel and don’t want to step foot on anyone’s toes
edited to add: I’m Cattery but with a name change x

Spotted today on another thread that was boardering acceptable.
On a different thread, he was board.

I saw both of those. Eye roll moments.

I've also seen people claim that their dog is a boarder collie instead of a border collie. 🙄

It does make you wonder what’s happened to literacy. Too much online misspellings. Too much mishearing and assumptions. I find it both fascinating and depressing.

It is depressing. Never has so much knowledge been available in the history of humanity. It's so easy to access an online dictionary.
Every day on MN we have the word "loose" for "lose" , which I find very irritating.

Perhaps he's only boarding with them! 😅

For posts like this I want a really BIG ;Like' button. I am depressed by how little people seem to understand their own language.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 25/08/2025 11:35

Sorry about the weird punctuation. My eyes are tired!

Justbecauseyoucandoesntmeanyoushould · 25/08/2025 11:53

Saw one from a person bemoaning the lack of "rest bite" care for a relative.

Catpiece · 25/08/2025 11:58

Grim isn’t it.

That's a bad one. A thread title recently was something like "My DH should of not gone on a stag do".

Cathandkin · 25/08/2025 12:13

If you ever point it out though, you get attacked. Someone once called me a pedant, to which I responded "yes, I am!"
No further response.

Catpiece · 25/08/2025 13:33

@Cathandkin No further response needed 😂

I am also unashamedly a pendant.

This afternoon I saw a mini bus with coachwork ‘Pine Martin Grange’ it’s a care home nearby I googled it when I got back, owned by a corporation and not someone called ‘Martin’

does anyone have any thoughts how this could possibly be correct ?

There is a care home in Wareham called Pine Martin Grange. I'm guessing they just selected that name without realising?

CalzoneOnLegs · 25/08/2025 16:37

@Cathandkin that’s the one, driven past hundreds of times but this was on their mini bus, had no idea that was the name of the care home.

not sure they are even native to Dorset, I thought they were in Scotland

so nobody doing the body work, literature and signage realised either 🤣

Cathandkin · 25/08/2025 16:37

The worst one recently was a BBC strapline, the news item being a recent celebrity wedding.
It read "Jeff Bezo's Wedding" (sic)

Presumably a misspelling of 'Pine Marten' - an arboreal member of the weasel family

CalzoneOnLegs · 25/08/2025 16:39

@Cathandkin dare me to email them 🤣

Yes, that's what I was thinking.

True! I thought they were native to Scotland, too!

Joining this thread. I am 53 and a writer. I am in pain daily. Latest on Mumsnet, twice in a day - low and behold. Jesus Christ, in every way.

CalzoneOnLegs · 25/08/2025 16:42

my phone camera doesn’t work 🤬

CalzoneOnLegs · 25/08/2025 16:43

Also ‘horking’ on a thread a few days ago, it was coughing related

AsanteSana · 25/08/2025 16:45

Cathandkin · 25/08/2025 16:41

Once commonplace throughout the UK, I believe that there are still populations in Wales and isolated small population densities on Exmoor and possibly ( like Red Squirrels) in Dorset and areas with coniferous forest

CalzoneOnLegs · 25/08/2025 16:47

I’m leaving this here for ‘prosperity’
