A Viscous attack # 2

Catpiece · 15/08/2025 11:23

Is it okay for me to start a second thread of the highly entertaining viscous attack? Couldn’t see a sequel and don’t want to step foot on anyone’s toes
edited to add: I’m Cattery but with a name change x

Just wondering if anyone is planning on making the 'tarte au citroen' mentioned on a recent Christmas food thread...🚗🚗🚗

I did, and thought it had rather a metallic taste!

I think the “wants to lunch with” is likely a posher way of saying “wants to go to lunch with” although it may just be a common or garden omission of words on the part of the poster?

Ladies who lunch…it’s posh!

Some people just don't have enough saddles and bridles though.

That must be a right mare!

Borgonzola · 06/11/2025 22:10

A local Facebook group earlier was bemoaning the intrusions of ‘Knottingham knockers’. It’s a knotty problem in the area

TerminalMoraine · 06/11/2025 23:52

I will set out my stool.

I will set out my stool.

I'd rather not watch that, if it's all the same with you...

One headline on a competition aggregator site: "Win a 6 night artic escape".

I'm not sure I want to travel all the way to Tromsø in a large lorry. And the 6 nights would be 3 days and nights getting there and 3 returning, surely?

Ladies who lunch…it’s posh!

It's similar to breakfast as a verb, which also works (as in "breaking your fast")

Just seen on a work chat
‘Who is the bet person to contact about Arm Forces support?’

PendantScorner · 07/11/2025 12:51

On a local SM site today: "So believe it was a scar tackle tic to intimate me, "

PendantScorner · 07/11/2025 12:52

It’s one of the basic tenants of dog ownership ... on a current thread.

It might be an autocorrection but I had to think about it. Smile
scar tackle tic. Grin

MagpiePi · 07/11/2025 13:33

I’m wondering if ‘scar’ comes from the same dictionary as scrap (for scrape) that was in the cat food thread?

Catpiece · 07/11/2025 13:55

Eeking out the cat food?

Just reading how someone’s husband “clobbered together a gift bag” for her.

Just reading how someone’s husband “clobbered together a gift bag” for her.

I’ve just read that, and I must admit it had me reaching for the dictionary just in case I’d missed an alternative meaning. No, I was right - it doesn’t mean what she thinks it does, but I’m not brave enough to join the thread to tell her…

PendantScorner · 07/11/2025 14:28

The gift bag contained some clobber though.

It did indeed. The dh cobbled it together

In Active just now, there's a thread containing the words "feint lines".

Aren't they moves in fencing and boxing?

TerminalMoraine · 08/11/2025 23:09

It’s an arial view from a drone.

I thought they were what you got on writing pads.

ACatAsleepInYourHat · 10/11/2025 11:09

Anyone else a doubting pedant? I’ve just read a thread where the op described herself as “risk averse”, and I had a moment of thinking “hang on, shouldn’t that be adverse…?” I had to read it a couple of times and give myself a mental head shake.
On the other hand and another thread, the poster described herself as a “loan parent”, which I quite liked.
