A Viscous attack # 2

Catpiece · 15/08/2025 11:23

Is it okay for me to start a second thread of the highly entertaining viscous attack? Couldn’t see a sequel and don’t want to step foot on anyone’s toes
edited to add: I’m Cattery but with a name change x

Missed a full stop there, @Cathandkin! One has to be so careful posting on these threads ☺️

CalzoneOnLegs · 24/09/2025 14:47

It’s a mindfield

PendantScorner · 24/09/2025 14:59

@Cathandkin , They skim-read or watch videos. If they read, they read badly written SM posts.

Catpiece · 24/09/2025 15:01

@PendantScorner They do and the mistakes do the rounds and everyone think they’re correct ad infinitum

That's the trouble. On MN now, every single spelling of lose seems to be loose, and etc is always written ect.

PendantScorner · 24/09/2025 15:06

Not always but far too often.

Perhaps when one of us writes it?

Catpiece · 24/09/2025 15:11

Loose/lose is a problem as is ect. I think with ect the writer has no idea it’s an abbreviation of etcetera and is just copying the three letters they’ve seen elsewhere

OP posts:
PendantScorner · 24/09/2025 15:18

@Cathandkin , we wouldn't write ect because we know it is an abbreviation of et cetera, and we know that lose and loose have different meanings.

Yes, you're right.

We do indeed.

I just caught up with Count/down and it-s National Punctuation' Day to'day' but we alre!ady knew that in here👌

Cathandkin · 24/09/2025 15:59

I like Susie Dent. She said she gets very annoyed when people say "5am in the morning" or "5pm in the afternoon".

PendantScorner · 24/09/2025 16:03

How about Boxing Day night? Or PIN number and PAC code?

SchnizelVonKrumm · 24/09/2025 18:19

Or 10 year anniversary 🙄

Catpiece · 24/09/2025 18:25

Looks like I’ve missed a few full stops. A thousand curses. 😂

I know auto-generated captions don't really count, but the film I'm watching has hilarious inanities in practically every line. This one tickled me so much, I kept rewinding the scene: Team Bravo Six is trying to get an update from team Delta Two. The radio operator frantically repeats:
Dump the tune! Dump the Tune! Bravo Six, over.

Cathandkin · 25/09/2025 11:55

I think "the Muslims trying to impose Shakirah law" is one of my all time favourite typos!
Bring it on!

PendantScorner · 25/09/2025 11:56

On today's Nextdoor:
Quick notification for all of my fellow road users, xxxxxx Td opposite the refuse/recycle/dump the camera was made love this morning, so watch your speed!! 👍👌

The replies were funny!

Have just seen ‘there’s’ for ‘theirs’.

Do I get bonus points for incorrect use AND a superfluous apostrophe?

PendantScorner · 26/09/2025 13:49

No, because theres isn't a word.
