Draw- ring

or

Draw- ing (no R sound before the ING)

It's a pendatometer test

Oh God yes, Cali, I am unable to keep a straight face when an American says 'mirror' or 'squirrel'. Actually, I think they've just knocked the 're' out altogether because I think they just say 'squirl'.

But "Meeeeeeyeeyeeeyeeeeeyeeeyooooorrrre[ad lib to fade]" I ask you, it's barely human. How do they not swallow their tongues?

I say 'looking glass.'

And then I apologise for the casual racism above.

WT, I think you're right. I've just sat here murmuring "mirror" to myself and I don't say "mirrer" after all. I say "mee rer". I don't bang on with the meeeyeeeyees though!

ElizabethBeresfordSW19 · 25/04/2008 18:41

The latter of course. Drawring is ridleeUSS

jingleyjen · 25/04/2008 18:41

draw-ing
febry
grass
Wendsday
hanbag
scon as in on not scone as in own
eye-on-ing

I have tried over and over to say squirrel and mirror the way it is said in the states but my mouth just won't do it!

BoysAreLikeDogs · 25/04/2008 18:42

at the notion that lots of wimmin are murmuring random words in front of their PCs this afternoon.

ElizabethBeresfordSW19 · 25/04/2008 18:49

Why do so many people say lore and order instead of law and order then? is it a regional thing? which region?

It's hard enough to say 'draw-ing' but how about claw-ing? Sounds like 'cloying'. I can't believe anyone could say 'claw-ing' without sounding a complete tit.

I think it's a mistake particular to the south east of England. Do all of you who say Drawring come from SE England?

Scottish, Welsh, Irish, American etc people would not saw lore and order or drawring.

donnie · 25/04/2008 19:55

droing

one and a half syllables in there.
