Another American import that makes me want to bleach my eyes and ears and permanently damage those who use it, especially on chain pub and restaurant menus
I'm pissed. Well, I will be once I open the wine.
Pissed off as that's another import that creates a different scenario to that intended!

What's your view of "watching" instead of "looking after" or "babysitting"? My daughter asked me to watch my grandson and I always want to say "why,? What's he doing?"

Watching the children is from the notion of "keeping watch" as in being on guard, looking out for, not sitting there staring at them.

My teenage niece calls Jammie Dodgers bloody cookies!!!!! She also says Mac 'n' Cheese. I can't bear to call it that and refer to it by its full and proper name. I'm waiting for that other abomination cauliflower cheese to be abbreviated. I like cheese sauce and I also like cauliflower but together bleugh.

Slightly off topic but I object to cauliflower "steaks"...they are usually an (outrageously overpriced) option for vegans but they are not in any way a steak they are merely a very unimaginative thick slice of cauliflower. (Although more fool anyone paying £20 for it!)

I don't mind it so long as it's mac and cheese. Using 'n' drives me to distraction, I hate it. I hate seeing it in posts and messages: like "Went for a walk with Jane n Billy, n went to the pub after that n stayed two n half hours" " happy birthday love Andrew n Beth". That sort of thing.

Wait staff! Sounds like dog obedience command

And slightly tangentially because I am talking about 'wait'...
"Are you waiting on me?" No, I am waiting for you

I think the OP means calling macaroni cheese 'mac 'n cheese'.
Which I agree is a horrible Americanism. There are so many more creeping in now, I think because of youtube etc.

Makes me think of a Big Mac.
