I get married on Saturday

Am suddenly unable to sleep so I look shocking. Hmmm.

Sorry I can't keep track of things on here, I like that blog someone linked to (snippet and ink).

LoveMyGirls · 06/10/2008 12:59

Wow how exciting!!!!!!!!!

Fingers crossed you manage some sleep before the big day! What about a relaxing bath with essential oils and a massage from dh2b?

TillyScoutsmum · 07/10/2008 08:54

smurfgirl - really hope you manage to get some sleep Its horrible when your head is spinning with everything and you just can't switch off enough. I find some of the Bach's rescue remedies good.

Enjoy the run up to Saturday. What have you got planned ? Is everything under control ?

Hi there LMG. How's it going ?

teafortwo · 07/10/2008 10:06

Good luck smurfgirl - keep cool!!!

So,

We have had our first disagreement on our wedding which was now 3 months ago...

The first batch of our photo prints have arrived - hurray hurray hurray!!!

Most of them are presents for people who we love and want to be included in the day. I did purchase a few for us too and I love them! I want to put a pair of us hugging by a shop window and one of dd standing on a chair in frames then proudly put the ones of us in our bedroom and the one of dd in her room. DH says it is a bit... naff! AIBN (Am I being naff)??? I loved our wedding and love our pictures - I wanna see them everyday! What have you or are you going to do with your wedding photos??? Perhaps we can find a compromise!

T42 - my dp will be exactly the same as your dh with regard to wedding photos. He didn't want a photographer and I suspect I will have to fight to be able to display some wedding pics.

I don't think having a couple on display is at all naff but do you know what ? Even if they are a teeny tiny bit naff, I really don't care. They will hopefully be pics where we are both (all ?) looking happier and lovelier than ever and I want some photographic evidence to put on show as a reminder.

It does remind me however of a friend who had a mahoooooosive canvass wedding print on their chimney breast (we're talking about 4ft square) of her and her hubby in a really "posed" 1980's style wedding pic. It was very naff and did used to make me cringe a teeny bit

teafortwo · 07/10/2008 17:00

The one I want to frame is 6ft big and of our faces and hair (me a perm him all slicked back) superimposed on a champagne glass and sort of misty pinks behind.... or.... or.... urrrmmm....maybe NOT!!!!

Ha ha ha!!!!

I showed the pics I want framed to the lady in the antique shop below our apartment today - she is going to look out for some stylish interesting but not too dear frames for me!!!!!

Hello!

Started thread earlier today as having a bit of a panic about my dress.

We are going to have a very quiet wedding (in 8wks) & then a big party in the new year.

We only decided to get married 2wks ago

Does anyone know if I can get a cake over the internet???? Has to be traditional.

TillyScoutsmum · 07/10/2008 21:00

Hiya sandy4 - so glad you found us

Ok - cakes - I get married on 29th November and have only just ordered a cake (from a local bakery). There should be plenty of time to get one made if you want. Otherwise M&S and Waitrose do them online

Whereabouts are you ? Anything else we can help with ?

sandy4 · 07/10/2008 21:05

I didn't think about good old M&S. thanks!

I'm in Dorset.

29th Nov - not long! We are waiting for 5th or 12th Dec to be confirmed by the venue. when did you start planning?? I can't sleep, can't eat ...

TillyScoutsmum · 07/10/2008 21:18

We started planning in about May/June. Its exciting stuff isn't it ? . Just relax - it'll all work out - honestly. There are lots of dressmakers on ebay who will copy bridal gowns and can do them in 6 weeks. I know a couple of brides who have used them and been pleased. I haven't seen any as gorgeous as the Browns one though on the other thread Just stunning

So - what sort of venue/reception are you having ? Civil ceremony ? What have you got left to sort ?

sandy4 · 08/10/2008 13:02

It's easier to tell you what I've done so far, rather than what's left to do -

Bought the rings last weekend, am waiting for email to come though from venue to confirm date & time....

Have found a fab lipstick that lasts ALL day!

... & that's it ...

Oh, it will be a civil ceremony in a country house, only a handful of people. (Did the big thing first time round).

TillyScoutsmum · 08/10/2008 13:14

Sounds lovely. Second time for me as well so we're also doing quite small (not small in numbers but just not very formal - i.e. just a big party with a buffet rather than a sit down meal etc.)

If the venue is sorting food and drink then there's not that much to do. Are you having any bridemaids/page boys or anything ? Music for ceremony ? Readings ? Flowers ? Photographer ? Are you managing to get away for a honeymoon at all ?

Let us know if you need any help with anything and keep us informed on the dress hunt

saralou · 08/10/2008 17:55

hi sandy4... i'm in dorset too!

i got our cake from m&s... it was delicious!!!

you would think that mil doing photo's we would get them quick... but no, we're in a que of other impatient brides (and i suppose they are paying!!)

good luck smurf girl for saturday... enjoy every second of it!!

stretchmarkSCREAM · 09/10/2008 10:49

Hi TSM and all, haven't been around for a while, but we only have 15 days to go
Liked your troll slaying TSM, such a shame though.

Tillyscoutsmum · 09/10/2008 11:08

Hi there - I love your halloween name

15 days is very exciting. Is everything sorted ?

I'm 50 days away (have only just counted that, just in case you all think I've got a little calendar somewhere and I know the days off by heart !). Still no dress.....

The troll thing is sad. I'm trying really hard not to feel disappointed/conned but I like to think that the girl we saw on this thread was who she was 99% of the time and just had a teeny little bit that sometimes went a bit OTT. She'll be back though (Hasta La Vista baby )

stretchmarkSCREAM · 09/10/2008 11:30

Ha! I bet you did know how many days off by heart!! How many hours!!!

WRT troll, I have just realised, that you knew waaaay back, didn't you? Because of the date of the wedding! Shame, She was good on this thread!

stretchmarkSCREAM · 09/10/2008 11:33

What can you do about the dress? Will you start looking for a back up? If you are REALLY desperate, Littlewoods/Additions do some ok dresses. They deliver really quickly too. Not the dress you want, and in white, but if you are struggling?? Sorry Must be hard not to panic.

BlingLovin · 09/10/2008 11:44

Can I join you all? getting married next year in South Africa. Am on verge of cancelling entire thing. Okay, not really, but my family are driving me crazy, I hate the invitations and it all just feels like more hassle than it's worth.

Why, oh why, oh why, can't people respect what I want? I understnd if they have strong opinions on the "big" things like who to invite and where we get married, but why are my mother and the dressmaker so violently anti the dresses I want for my bridesmaids (who incidentally are all vrey happy with it).

I do want the big wedding, and I'm looking forward to it really, but right now, am feeling very frustrated.

Tillyscoutsmum · 09/10/2008 12:48

Welcome BlingLovin. Unfortunately, weddings can bring the worst out in people and its really hard to please everyone all of the time - so don't try - just do what you (and dp obviously) want.

Is the dressmaker allowed to have an opinion FFS ?! Presumably, she is either capable of making it, or she isn't (in which case you find someone who can). I'd tell her to sod off

So - tell us more about your wedding. South Africa sounds fascinating. Are you in SA ? Have you got your dress ? Tell us more

Stretch - I'm trying not to panic - I have been assured it will be here by the end of October. I'll save my panicking and looking for a back up until then.
