Right, am calmer (well, wedding wise anyway - work is manic. Am taking a short break before launching myself into a whole lot of things. I might never get home at a decent time again...).

So, on the wedding. We're getting married in cape town. We live in London but families are there, so that's an obvious choice. The challenge though of course is that doing it long distance is hard bloody work. So all the arguments with my mother, dressmakers, florists etc is made worse because it's done from thousands of miles away, by phone. Or by email. And my mother likes to call early in the morning on the weekends which drives us crazy.

we've got somewhere short of 120 people coming (hard to tell because some people are still hanging on before confirming if they'll fly). A lot of that is family though as we both come from large families. Which we like, but is also hard...!

My dress is being made in SA. which I'm nervous about but does make it cheaper and of course I don't have to carry it back. plus it will be 100% custom made which is nice.

BlingLovin · 09/10/2008 18:11

And... I just got the final invite proofs and they're lovely. Phew.

They're not terribly "normal" so I'm a bit worried about them... but I guess I just have to hope for the best.

Tillyscoutsmum · 09/10/2008 21:10

Wow - Jammi - your wedding sounds great. A wedding/christening weekend in fact. Great. Thanks for the hair accessories website - have saved in my favourites - looks great. Any other suggestions ? Am looking for jewellery at the mo (am watching some on ebay)

Any pics of your dress ??

Bling - yours sounds great as well. Must be a pita planning long distance though, but worth it for the amazing location. DP has been to Cape town and has always raved about it. So what's your dress like ?

Jammi - the jewellery is stunning. There's some really pretty stuff on there. I ordered mine last night in the end - I've gone for vintagey/antique stuff. Also ordered a clip from Ebuni. There were two I really liked, but the other one is out of stock.

Are you in Cardiff then ? My dp is from there (Lisvane). We're off there later today to spend the weekend with in the in laws

Are you wearing anything over your dress ? I did fancy a faux fur shrug type thing but then thought I might look like Father Christmas with a red dress and ivory fur, so I'm still contemplating !

Hi, all!

Well, things are not great at the moment. Dp was called into work today for a meeting and told that half the staff were being made redundant. luckily not him, yet, but he has to take a 5% pay cut(there was no pay rise this year either) and they will re-assess in feb. So he may not have a job by feb. I bloody wish we knew this before we planned a wedding

I am literally terrified now. I don't know if this makes any sense, but I'm only 26 and for the first time in my life, I feel like I'm grown up, not 'playing' at being an adult. do you see what I mean?? I have 3 children ffs! I suppose up until now, this sort of thing happened to other people. Sorry, can't explain exactly how I feel.

I know there are people MUCH worse off than me, so I appologise.

Not really feeling like wedding planning now.

Thanks. We are already on a tight budget, trying to shave money off things. But yes, it's the marriage that counts. Deep breaths!

Tillyscoutsmum · 10/10/2008 13:43

Sorry to hear your news stretch - must be really worrying for you both . I'm sure it'll work out though

Jammi - where did you get your organza throw from (I'm assuming you didn't go to Malaysia to get it !?)

Our wedding - ok. 29th Novemeber, late pm civil ceremony in a hotel with a big party after. About 80 people, drinks, buffet, cheesy wedding dj - that sort of thing. I'm having red dress dress but in ivory. I got some fab Jimmy Choo shoes from ebay red ones. Just ordered this necklace with earrings to match and a similarish hair clip from ebuni. DD (18 months) and dsd (5) will be flowergirls and will be the absolute centre of attention because they both look massively cute in their dresses

beanieb · 10/10/2008 16:10

Sorry to hear your news Stretch.

I have been back to see the venue and it's nicer than I remember. Still having trouble getting hold of a pattern for my dress but apart from that things seem to be coming along.

mumofmonstersOBE · 10/10/2008 21:15

Stretch Sorry to hear your news. Its hard planning on a very very tight budget but it's do able(well we are managing so far) can you pay for the essentials?

btw, i am also 26(27 the day after the wedding!) and have 3 DCs

What's this about a troll? I must have missed that when i was busy slaying other trolls(someone DEF left the door to troll land open!)

mumofmonstersOBE · 10/10/2008 22:04

oh Tilly

am also . i don't think i came across hughjarsss on any other thread except this one

Tillyscoutsmum · 10/10/2008 22:12

She posted a lot. Was usually completely normal and lovely like she was here. She was quite honest and blunt and occasionally a bit harsh (her cod dislike wasn't a secret). I knew who she was from about the end of August but tbh, she didn't seem to be doing any harm (albeit I was a bit concerned because the EB stalking was a teeny bit disturbing). There were a couple of trolls around and I suspected they may be her - but was never sure but then when she outed herself last night as the namechanger, I thought she perhaps had been playing around a lot ?

Oh I don't bloody know ! Perhaps I should have just kept my mouth shut and stayed out of it.

Anyhoo - back to weddings I think. Much more pleasant

ForTheLastTimeTilly · 10/10/2008 22:35

Apart from lovelygal I was only the people I named on that thread .. promise.
