26 days MoM ?

I seem to have loads of bits and bobs to get sorted as well. Will be happier when I've got my hair sorted so I know whether I need a different hair clip thingy or not (I hope not - we're going to try and incorporate the one I've already bought but I might just go for my hair down, in which case, it won't work).

I have my first dress fitting tomorrow morning. I am soooo excited !! Look out for my post saying I hate it or something similarly stupid. You know what I'm like !

Errm hen night. Not really having a major one. Had a nice girly night in with a couple of friends last Friday (when DP was away on his), so that was sort of one. Also going out for a meal and drinks in town this Friday with some other friends. We meet up every couple of months anyway so its not specifically a hen night, but should still be fun. What about you ??

Wonder if Jammi is a married woman by now ?

StretchMarkCatherineWheelQueen · 03/11/2008 15:47

Hello all! I am no longer a bride...sob!! Happy wedding day Jammi!! How are you all doing???

Tillyscoutsmum · 03/11/2008 19:51

Poor stretch What are you doing with yourself now you haven't got a wedding to plan ? I'm actually not looking forward to it all being over (but am obviously looking forward to being married at the same time). How's married life ?

StretchMarkCatherineWheelQueen · 03/11/2008 21:23

It's great!!! We are definitely in the honeymoon period!! It's good not having to stress about the wedding plans!

I am having a bit of a blissful break from planning things, then I will be back for the rest of the brides-to-be!! I also have to plan DH 30th birthday party! I'm trying to make it a surprise!!

How's the dress saga going?? You don't seem to be stressing all that much! What on earth will you do when you're married You're the queen of the thread!!

Tillyscoutsmum · 04/11/2008 14:45

Dress saga is ok. Its here and I had my first fitting this morning. I think its ok (I wasn't blown away but then I never am really iykwim)

In a dilemma about what to put over it though. Tried two things on with it and not sure either are right. Need to keep looking I think

MerlinsBeard · 04/11/2008 18:00

it's only ok?? oh dear that doesn't sound very good

as for what to put around it, i am going for erm NOTHING !! was too stressful and will only be cold going to and from the car in any case

Tillyscoutsmum · 04/11/2008 19:44

Hi MoM.... I'm just a bit pissed off with the shop tbh - I just felt a bit rushed and generally not listened to much. I wanted to maybe have straps put on, but she basically told me it would "spoil" the dress and didn't want to know. She may well be right of course, but surely that's up to me to decide I'm also not convinced it didn't need taking in a bit - but she reckoned not All in all, I was just a bit disappointed.....

but then I do have hideous PMT so I have taken pics and will re-assess in a few days time

MerlinsBeard · 04/11/2008 19:45

can we see them?

when is your next fitting? what about taking some bra straps with you(obviously the wrong colour!) so you get a general idea? i have attached ivory bra straps to mine - although there were hooks for me to do that so was a lot easier!

LoveMyGirls · 04/11/2008 19:58

TSM - I'll join you with bad PMT! I'm clumsy, irritable, too hot, cant sleep, tired, think everything is my fault so theres guilt its crap! blah blah! Now I'm stressing on this thread.....scroll to bottom

I'm not even getting married for another 10 months fgs!

Any words of advice on how to get everything sorted 8 to 10 weeks before the wedding?? What kind of things can I expect will need doing during the last 8 weeks?

I will be lucky if I can get a couple of days off before the wedding.

MerlinsBeard · 04/11/2008 19:59

LMG, i have had 12(ish) weeks to plan our wedding, it IS doable )

Tillyscoutsmum · 04/11/2008 20:05

OK - some pics on profile (briefly). Excuse miserable face

I like the colour (grey/silver) of the one coat but the style of the other (but with a brooch instead of ribbon).

The dress was tightened up and then seemed to fall down a bit so its a bit lower than I thought it would be a the front (hence me thinking it might need taking in a tad)

Tillyscoutsmum · 04/11/2008 20:11

LMG - you'll be fine - honestly.. There's actually not that much to do. You will need to have a couple of meetings with registrar/vicar and reception venue to finalise numbers etc (and pay !), but that can be done at weekends. As can dress fittings, florists etc. Things like hair & make up trials can also be done weekends and if you're having manicure/pedicure/fake tan etc., try and find a local salon that does a late night. A few near us do a late Thursday so that works out great

Honestly - nearly everyone I've dealt with has been by phone/email and can be done during the evening/at weekends. Try not to stress - you'll have plenty of time

MerlinsBeard · 04/11/2008 20:12

tilly you look lovely and the dress is AMAZING! fwiw it looks fine that low but straps would hold it up a bit more. Small straps would be fine i think (bra type ones or spaghetti)

both those coats are nice and give completely different looks! The only problem i can see with using a brooch instead is that your dress already has a brooch type detailing on it so you would have to find one very similar.

MerlinsBeard · 04/11/2008 20:13

have to day LOL @ you in your red dress infront of all the white/ivory ones

Tillyscoutsmum · 04/11/2008 20:16

Thanks MoM - will be back to debate further in a min but in the meantime my husband to be is apparently dying of starvation on the sofa, so I need to go and cook his dinner

Tillyscoutsmum · 04/11/2008 21:20

Right - he's been fed. I think I caught him just before he wasted away to nothing

I wanted thicker straps (cross over at the back) - not so much to help hold it up but more to cover some of my back up (I have loads of moles which I hate). When she first did the dress up, it was really tight and sat much higher up (so it didn't look like I was "spilling"' over the top), but then whilst she was pinning the bottom (about half an hour maybe ?), it slipped down. God knows what it'll be like after a whole day ?!? I'll be norks out That's why I thought it might need taking in around the waist so it stayed put. I'm just not sure she could be arsed....

Anyhoo - enough of my whingeing. Think I'm going to order this in pale grey for over the top

Hair trial take 2 on Friday as well.

I'm such an awkward cow !

smurfgirl · 04/11/2008 21:28

TSM is your dress Channing by Maggie Sottero, I loved that dress! I tried it on and it was my 2nd choice! Gorgeous choice.

Tillyscoutsmum · 04/11/2008 21:30

Thank you smurfgirl It is indeed

How's married life treating you ?

smurfgirl · 04/11/2008 21:39

Good yeah, we are getting on fine

Horrid stressful stuff happening in life but he is lovely as ever and I know we will be ok.

Its such a lovely dress - are you excited to wear it?? Yay for 'plain' dresses !

MerlinsBeard · 05/11/2008 11:32

now that shrug/bolero (what are they called??) is NICE (and would cover your back in any case.

DP and I made our cake toppers last night - was sooo much fun. Waiting for the varnish to dry and will takea pic. finalised food(not ordered/bought yet though), what's next on the list...ooh hen night

Blinglovin · 05/11/2008 11:57

Tilly... I missed the pics! please put them up again!?!? Pretty please?

I think you should shout about this. if you're not happy with the fit, you have to say what you think - you're the one wearing it. This happened to a friend of mine - they kept making changes that made it worse and she eventually threw a little strop at the end. But it got so bad that at one point we were lining up alternatives for her to have the dress made...

saralou · 05/11/2008 13:06

tilly, i lost a little weight before the wedding (straight off my boobs of course!!) and the dress kept slipping down... it was ok for during the ceremony, but at the reception it kept slipping down... my cure for it was to get pissed and therefore not care... is this an option for you

lmg.. we planned our whole wedding in 4 months.. last minute things were going to reception venue and discussing what/how we wanted it done. we had to go to reg office again it was just to go through last minute details.... then theirs paying for everything - mostly that involved sending out cheques though!!

i had lists of lists of lists!

it's the little jobs that add up, like making the favours (which i wouldn't bother with in hindsight, every one kept giving them to the boys.. we still have them left now!!!)

don't forget to delegate!!!

our album is nearly ready... we have the mock up one and it looks great, a couple of changes i need to make.. but i'm very excited about getting it now!!!

LoveMyGirls · 05/11/2008 13:24

I know you are telling me not to stress but I'm afraid I still am here

I'm not bothering with favours just going to have cupcakes filled with sweets so everyone can have a little nibble while they're listening to the speeches plus colouring books crayons for the little ones.

Tillyscoutsmum · 05/11/2008 13:27

Smurf - sorry to hear you're having stressful times but glad your new happily married status is helping you through

Bling - have put the pic back up if you fancy a nosey

saralou - getting pissed is very much an option for me Just hope I get through the pics without flashing my nipples at anyone .

LMG - would second not bothering with favours.

I'm going for second fitting next Saturday so will push for it to be taken in if I'm still not happy.

OK - can't decide whether to order the shrug I linked to earlier in pale grey here or to have a bolero in slate grey here

Any thoughts ?! Sorry to be a pain but they're not returnable to need to get it right.

Tillyscoutsmum · 05/11/2008 13:29

Ooh - forgot to say MoM - looking forward to seeing your cake toppers - that sounds like fun ! I would love to have a go at something like that but dp and I are soooooo unartistic, its unbelievable. I tried to dd an Iggle Piggle cake for dd's 1st b'day and it end up looking like a deformed Monster Munch monster It went in the bin
