saralou, there are some fantastic photo's there. Looks like you had a fantastic day!

Seriously though...why the F*ck are you all so glam??!! am going to have to have lessons in being photogenic as it is but to have to find some Glam from somewhere...?? ARGH

beanieb · 12/10/2008 14:14

Just been to Ikea to buy 12 vases... 99p each! Also got loads of tealights and some petals.. all under £30!

Am quite excited as now all I need to do is decide on flowers and my MIL has said she will help with that!

Tillyscoutsmum · 12/10/2008 15:12

saralou- the pics are gorgeous. Everyone looks like they had an amazing day

BlingLovin · 12/10/2008 23:04

Saralou, you look gorgeous. I love the little wrap you're wearing. I've got sleaves and am getting married in summer (SA Summer) so don't need a wrap, but if I did, thats the route I'd take. I do need to find something for the bridesmaids I think but am hoping to pick them up something on the high street.

Tilly, my dress is fairly traditional too. White (well, creamy white) satin with chiffon over. Tight corseted bodice (I'm not as tiny as I'd like to be... so all the help I can get! ), then falling to an A-Line skirt with the skirt falling from left hip to right foot. The crossover skirt is gorgeous. it also has lots of sparkly bits which I love (Blinglovin..?)

I think I found the fabric for the bridesmaids dresses which is a relief as my mum has been driving me insane trying to convince me to put women well over 30 into little chiffon numbers...! [Oh, and Tilly, I didn't see a mention of your actual age, but I'm over 30 too!].

So actually, I'm feeling quite good right now. invitations are done. Bridesmaids are sorted (kind of). Men's outfits are bought and sized and flowers have been almost confirmed.

LoveMyGirls · 13/10/2008 07:52

Hi, will pop back in a bit to catch up and give details but I have exciting news!!!!!!!!!

I have found MY dress, THE DRESS!!!!!! At last! I actually cried!

Tillyscoutsmum · 13/10/2008 10:05

Bling - your dress sounds gorgeous. Those tight corset thingies work wonders don't they ?? Its been years since I had a waist !

LMG - how exciting. Get back on here and show us a.s.a.p.

LoveMyGirls · 13/10/2008 12:22

I can't find pictures of it online anywhere I don't even know who made it or anything, I'm going to have another look and order it at the weekend so I'll see if I can get more details. It's really hard to describe, it's quite plain but at the same time very elegant and has lots of rouches I'm going to add a bit of sparkle with some brooches which I can then pass down to my dd's when they are older which I think is a nice touch. It's quite fitted down to the hip then kicks out into a full skirt it's nothing like the dress I've been looking for tbh it's not even white, it's ivory and that was one of the things I was adamant I was having! It hasn't even got a lace up back or a hint of blue! The colours for the wedding are now brown and blue (dp wants a brown suit he thinks)

I rang my dad and mentioned how much it costs and he said it was too much so I've offered to put more towards it because i want it that much (I realised this when I was on the phone to my mum and I couldn't describe it well enough and I just burst into tears ) I rang dp and asked if we would be able to put some money towards it he text me a few minutes later saying if it the dress you love and it's the right one then go for it, you're worth it! I nearly cried when I read that! I've definitely got the man and the dress sorted now I think.......just everything else to do now then lol!

I fell asleep last night thinking about wearing it again, add that to the bursting into tears etc this is how I know this one is the one - I think!

Tillyscoutsmum · 13/10/2008 15:04

Oh LMG - It sounds lovely and more importantly, you sound so excited and happy It really does sound like its THE ONE. I'm desperate to see some pics now

I can be honest now and tell you that I was never that keen on the ones with coloured embroidery on. Obviously, you have to go for what you want and I'm sure you would have looked gorgeous, but I just think they wouldn't date very well iyswim. I think a classic, elegant, ivory dress will be much lovelier imho

LoveMyGirls · 14/10/2008 07:49

this is it! on page 12

LoveMyGirls · 14/10/2008 07:50

sorry pronovias on page 12

Tillyscoutsmum · 14/10/2008 09:19

Bugger - doesn't work on my laptop (Applemac and sometimes has problems with flash players). Is there a name or number for it and I can try googling. Pronovias do some stunning dresses

LoveMyGirls · 14/10/2008 11:35

it's Haiti

Tillyscoutsmum · 14/10/2008 12:18

Wow LMG - its gorgeous. Really really beautiful. I love it

LoveMyGirls · 14/10/2008 12:20

Thanks, I think its AMAZING!

Icould have got the other for £480 but this one is in a different league imo and worth the bit extra.

Tillyscoutsmum · 14/10/2008 12:22

I agree its a totally different league. Its just classy and timeless but still being a little bit individual. It really is a lovely dress

Tillyscoutsmum · 14/10/2008 14:07

BTW - if anyone wants any wedding earrings, then I might have some. They arrived today and are lovely but are too big/heavy for me (I haven't even tried them on, I just know from looking at them). Unfortunately, there's a strict no return policy on earrings so I've wasted £30.

If anyone likes the look of them - let me know. here

BlingLovin · 14/10/2008 15:56

Wow, lovely. I'm almost tempted but because of all the bling on my dress, while I want some sparkly earrings, I think they need to be quite plain. Am checking out the website though for ideas...

Tillyscoutsmum · 14/10/2008 17:51

Stretch

Bling - I know what you mean - my dress is fairly plain so I've gone for bling jewellery (I have the necklace to match the earrings). Such a blooming waste of money though . I don't suppose anyone would buy earrings from ebay (they still have tags on so you can tell they haven't been worn)

Oh - and whilst I'm in "plugging" mode, I also have an unworn flowergirl dress (12-18 months) which I ordered for dd. She's grown out of it though before the wedding and its too late to send it back so again- if anyone wants it - let me know

MerlinsBeard · 15/10/2008 10:27

Stretch

LMG - what a beautiful dress!

TSM, i LOVE the earrings but the rest of my jewellery is gold

Tillyscoutsmum · 15/10/2008 18:43

smurfgirls pics in case anybody missed them

LoveMyGirls · 15/10/2008 19:38

Wow love your photos SG looks like you had a brilliant day!!!!!!!!!

Stretch - 9 days to go la la la la!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TSM - I've only had my ears pierced for 10 months so earrings that heavy might be a mistake for me but they are beautiful! I'm thinking of ordering my earrings, necklace, brooches and tiara from here as prices are good and the quality is good from what I saw when I was at the NEC the other day, I'm hoping to email and see if she can do all the things I need matching for not too much money!

BL - sounds like thigns are coming along well, love the sound of your dress!

beanieb - I'll bear ikea in mind when we do table decs thanks

stretchmarkSCREAM · 16/10/2008 09:58

Can I have your honest opinion?? (As if you'd give anything else!!) Does it really matter that I'm not in a white/ivory dress? I'm starting to worry that people will think I'm daft or odd. EVERY photo I see has brides in either white or light gold colour. And I don't mean you TSM, cos red is a popular colour too! But, the difference is, yours is a 'proper' wedding dress, whereas mine is really a bridesmaids. IYSWIM???

Tillyscoutsmum · 16/10/2008 10:20

Welllll - I am the wrong person to ask because I love coloured dresses. I don't think they look in the slightest bit daft. I suppose they may look "odd" insofar as they're different from the norm but hey, being normal is overrated Seriously, I tried lots of bridesmaid dresses on and would have happily gone with one of them. The only reason I went with a "proper' wedding dress is because the structured corset was really good for my figure. I actually preferred some of the bridesmaid dresses and I really wanted a dark green dress. Still a teeny bit sometimes that I didn't get my green dress

I can't remember your dress - is it the gold BhS one ??

Anyway - stop worrying. You will look gorgeous.

8 days to go

MerlinsBeard · 16/10/2008 11:10

tick tock stretch I don't think it matters what colour dress you wear as long as it looks nice (and isn't flourescent pink)

Our rings arrive on Saturday i am SO excited
