DDF - glad the veil arrived and Sardinia was good (it'd better be - after all that hassle !!). How excited are you ? What're your plans for the rest of the week ? Running around like a blue arsed fly sorting things out or chilling and relaxing before the big day ?

OP posts:
Dropdeadfred · 05/08/2008 16:44

unfortunately so far it is the blue arsed fly option so far !!!

lilmissmummy · 05/08/2008 18:46

Sorry got a bit caught up with cleaning to give you more info today- just moved into a new house and I cant believe how quickly everything gets dirty!!!

Anyway umm I have a dress and bridesmaids dresses and reception and church booked. The photographer is a frined of dh2b and the cake maker is a friend of his parents.

oooh I have never been to Sardinia is it nice???

So Tilly Scout a winter wedding aye??? How exciting!

I'm keeping fingers crossed for the sun!

saralou · 05/08/2008 18:55

wow, can i talk weddings with you all....

8 weeks today!!!!! i want it to be now though!!!!

hughjarssss · 05/08/2008 20:12

I think I'll go with nothing in my hair as well.

Whats everyone doing for favours?

Is anyone getting married in a registry office, what are you doing afterwards?

TillyScoutsmum · 05/08/2008 20:19

Hey saralou - join in, join in. 8 weeks - how exciting. Details please.... with pics/links where possible

ANy pics of your dresses lilmiss ?

hugh - I'm not having any favours but think we're having a candy buffet instead

OP posts:
hughjarssss · 05/08/2008 20:31

WOW! Whats a candy buffet?

SmallShips · 05/08/2008 21:20

I got married in a registry office, had a sit down sea food meal in a sea food bar and grill overlooking the beach. We had favour boxes of 3/4 of those (can't remember the name) belgian chocolate seashells.

DDF - Glad Sardinia was good!

TillyScoutsmum · 05/08/2008 21:21

Its basically lots of different sweets/chocs etc. and the guests help themselves. It'll be on the table after the evening buffet (so will be pud as well). You can colour co ordinate it with your wedding colours So we'll have red and white. Hopefully it'll look like this

OP posts:
saralou · 05/08/2008 21:26

thanx guys... i love talking about my wedding, but i'm starting to see that glazed expression on peoples faces! the only person who will talk weddings is best mate, but she just wants to talk about hers now (which is next year)

the date is set for the 30th september, which is a tuesday and is our anniversary... we will have been together 6 years that day! one reason i wanted that date, another being a tuesday makes it cheaper!!!!

we get married here then off to an italian for dinner, then we go to a hotel for the night and the mokey boys go to stay at my parents!!!

my dress is from monsoon, their no longer selling it so i can't link... but it's in ivory and empire cut!

MIL is wedding photographer, so is doing us her most expensive package! for free!

friend is hairdresser and so is doing my hair and makeup!

these are our rings which i love!

umm.... and now i think you know practically everything their is to know about saralou's wedding!!!

saralou · 05/08/2008 21:29

oh and we only started planning about 6 weeks ago....

hughjarssss · 05/08/2008 22:01

We're getting married at 10am and have no idea what to do afterwards. Its just a small group of us. And I have nothing planned!
We are getting married where dp's family lives and where he was born so its quite tricky.

Its too early to eat out.
I want to have a nice meal out at night so don't really want to go out for lunch as that would work out really expensive and probably be too much eating IYKWIM.

WE might have some food at dp's mum house with champagne, but still trying to work out what food. Its hard because it needs to be quick, simple and nice.

I've rambled enough now, can you tell I'm just doing circles!

TillyScoutsmum · 05/08/2008 22:21

Oooh hugh - sounds good. What about a champagne brunch (muffins, scrambled eggs, smoked salmon etc) or if that's too much hassle, have cake elevenses (lots of lovely cakes, scones, maybe some sandwiches sort of like an afternoon tea but at lunch time)

Or is there anywhere you could do a boat trip or something with champers and canapes

Whereabouts is it ?

Saralou - yours sounds fab too. Lovely getting married on your anniversary. Are you ds's being page boys ? Any flowers ? I love the ring as well. Gorgeous

OP posts:
saralou · 05/08/2008 22:33

yeah, the monkeys are page boys plus nephew and i have my best friend and dp's niece as bridesmaid (plus my new niece who will be 10weeks old by then!)

flowers are sorted... i'm having light pink heaven roses with a trail of bear grass and darker pink orchids!

hugh, i would do smoked salmon or cucumber sandwiches (or both) buffet style! you can get it all ready before hand and whip off hte cling film at the last moment! with lots of champagne!!!

hughjarssss · 06/08/2008 11:03

I was thinking of salmon but I'm not sure if dp's family would be into that.
Nor the cakes as his mum and sisters are on permanent diets!

Its so hard!!!

Saralou you've have planned so much in 6 weeks! Thats fantastic, I don't how you did it!

lilmissmummy · 06/08/2008 11:11

saralou your ring is stunning!!! how old are your boys?

And the candy buffet looks amazing! What colour scheme are you having?

Let me find some pictures for you:-
this is our church

and our reception

They are the reason that we booked the wedding 18 months in advance. You know what it is like when you have you heart set on something!!! although only have a year and 3 days left to go... VERY JEALOUS ABOUT THE 8 WEEKS.

and this is my dress

I cant seem to find any pictures of the bridesmaids or flower girls dresses at the moment but I will keep looking.

What flowers are you all having? If any?

And I havent even thought as far as hair or favours or anything!

hughjarssss · 06/08/2008 11:18

The candy buffet is a fab idea - really original.

TillyScoutsmum · 06/08/2008 12:21

hugh - dp's family aren't allowed to be on diets on your wedding day Waitrose and M&S both do great party buffets - all pre prepared. People can then have a pick and eat what they want

Lilmiss - your venue looks amazing and the church is really pretty. Dress is gorgeous as well - are you having it with red embroidery ? One of the girls on here (Lovemygirls) has been looking for dresses with colour on them (blue) for her wedding next September

Our colour scheme is basically red and ivory. My dress is red, girls are in ivory with red sashes, flowers are red roses, white orchids and cala lillies. My dress is this colour scarlet but this is the actual dress

OP posts:
lilmissmummy · 06/08/2008 12:28

M and S also do fantastic wedding cakes- so if you are stuck for one- it is deffinately worth looking at. They taste wonderful!

My dress will actually be slightly darker red than this- the colour scheme is burgundy and ivory. My bridesmaids are in Burgundy and my flower girl will be in ivory with a burgundy sash.

ooh I love cala lillies they are so beautiful- are you having a spray bouquet or a posy?

Tillyscout your dress is beautiful- are you having a veil with it?

I cant remember if they do blue on this dress- I know it is available in white, black, red, burgundy and silver embroidery but I cant remember if it is available in Blue. The dress is by true bride and is W623 if that is any help. Has lovemygirls tried the alfred angelo collection? I will keep my eye out for any other blue dresses.

lilmissmummy · 06/08/2008 12:55

ooh and mori lee do a couple too

hughjarssss · 06/08/2008 15:02

Thanks Tilly - I didn't realise M&S done food to order, so I've decided to use them to do the food for after the wedding and also our cake.
Do you think if we collected the food on the Friday it would still be ok for Saturday? Or is that a silly idea?

If yoou were on a small budget what champagne woould you buy?

TillyScoutsmum · 06/08/2008 15:25

Tesco have got 50% of Freixenet champange at the moment. Tastes ok to me

We're getting our cake from M&S as well (the chocolate roses one). Hmmm - cake would be find from the Friday. Is there no way someone could pop and pick up the food first thing Saturday ? It might be ok but if you're having sandwiches, they can go a bit curly ....

OP posts:
TillyScoutsmum · 06/08/2008 15:25
