Thanks TSM!! You poor thing, SmallShips!! You'll just have to help plan ours for us!! I hope I don't feel like that after Don't think DP would want to do it again!!

hughjarssss · 01/08/2008 23:02

Hi everyone,

I'm thinking of having flowers in my hair, am I right in thinking the florist puts them on a comb?
How easy is this to put in hair as I am pants at doing hair!
Would it suit a bob style?

SmallShips · 02/08/2008 11:16

When i tried flowers in my hair, it was indeed put on a comb. Though i can't help with styles etc as i'm also pants at doing hair. Can't see why it wouldn't suit a bob.

SMQ - Hope you don't feel blue afterwards, my wedding was a bit of an anti-climax, DH has gone back to Iraq, so i've been on my own with the kids since 4 days after the big day... nightmare!

hughjarssss · 02/08/2008 14:09

What did you think of the flowers when you treid them on SS?

stretchmarkqueen · 02/08/2008 19:54

Sorry SmallShips, I didn't realise your DH had gone back to Iraq, I thought you were having post-wedding blues like Monica from friends, where she realised she wasn't a bride anymore, she was just married!!

stretchmarkqueen · 02/08/2008 21:23

Stupid question: How do I change my surname to dp's? Do I just do it??? Or do I have to do it by deed poll?

TillyScoutsmum · 02/08/2008 22:03

you just do it SMQ - most places will just need to see your wedding certificate - usually the original so see if you can get a duplicate from your registrar/vicar

OP posts:
stretchmarkqueen · 02/08/2008 22:09

Thankyou!! Was wondering as one of my friends says she hasn't got round to doing it yet, and I thought that meant you had to do something legal to change it. Apart from get married I mean!

TillyScoutsmum · 02/08/2008 22:13

No - it is a bit of a pain sending off the original certificate if you only have one. I never got round to changing my name after my first wedding because I'm a lazy mare

Will definitely get extra copies this time

OP posts:
stretchmarkqueen · 02/08/2008 22:24

Lol! Will remember to get extra copy! Thanks. You really are the Queen of this thread!!

TillyScoutsmum · 04/08/2008 13:58

Hello all - how's everyone getting on ?

Any newlyweds around ? Panicpants ? CMOC ?? Babyinacorner ?? We need details and photos. Come on please

OP posts:
stretchmarkqueen · 04/08/2008 15:22

I second that TSM! We need pictures!!!!

What do you think to these?

for favours

We are having a reading during our registry office wedding, done by 12 yr old cousin, and we are going to print the poem onto some scroll paper and use them for favours.......

lilmissmummy · 04/08/2008 16:27

Hi all
I am a newbie on this thread- umm okay a little info for you:-
I am 28 a mother of DS (7) and DD (3) have just moved (last week) to Wiltshire from Surrey although I am getting married there in 1 year and 4 days (not that I am counting or anything!). I am having a very big white church wedding!! Have quite a lot sorted already but absolutely loving planning and organising my wedding!

ummm what else do you need to know? How about you guys??

TillyScoutsmum · 04/08/2008 18:10

Hey lilmiss - welcome

What have you sorted so far ? Any dress pics ? Bridesmaids ? Flowers ? Honeymoon ? Anything else at all you want to share really. We're all wedding obsessives

Lots of details from everyone is you look back but I'll give you my basics (cos I love talking about it !). I'm 33, with dd (15 months) and dsd (4). We're getting married on 29th November this year. Civil ceremony in a hotel with a party after (not a proper sit down reception - just late pm ceremony and then almost straight on to an evening party). DD and DSD are flowergirls/bridesmaids. I've got a red wedding dress and the girls have ivory dresses with red sashes and red shoes

Tell us all

Hi all

Just a quick hello from the new Mrs

The day was wonderful. When I get around to loading pics I will post some. Needless to say there was far too much food but it was amazing and well worth the extra money. Last minute DJ was spot on and even the restaurant in the day was fab. In fact my best moment was standing in the gardens of the restaurant, champers in hand watching DD play with her cousins in the sun.

Will catch up when the family have left.

TillyScoutsmum · 04/08/2008 21:29

Wooohooo - congratulations Mrs CMOC. Can't wait to hear all the details and see pics

OP posts:
teafortwo · 05/08/2008 00:56

congratulations CMOC!!!!!!

teafortwo · 05/08/2008 00:57

ss thinking of you lots!!!

SmallShips · 05/08/2008 14:42

Congratulations CMOC.

I've not changed my name on anything yet, costs £70+ to change my passport and then some other ridiculous amount for my driving license. Do companies accept photocopies of the marriage certificate? I'd be here all year if i had to individualy send off the original.

Hugh - I didnt like the flowers in my hair, they were nice, but definately not me!

Wheres the rest of the newly weds gone?

TillyScoutsmum · 05/08/2008 14:56

A lot of places need the original... Things like the bank etc., its probably easier to go in and do it rather than send it off

SS - did you have professional photos done ? Have you had them back yet ? How long until dh gets back ?

Don;t know where everyone else is. I'm desperate to hear how babyinacorner got on

OP posts:
SmallShips · 05/08/2008 15:01

DH is back in 9 days and counting! We also get the wedding photos back then, they've been ready for ages, but i promised i would wait for him to get home, so we could look together!

If i took it down the bank, do you fill in the form, they view the certificate and thats it done then? Thats definately easier.

callmeovercautious · 05/08/2008 15:03

Thanks for the messages everyone

SS - sorry to hear about DH, hopefully he won't have long to go now before he is home again. Are you going on Honeymoon then?

I didn't have anything in my hair (in a bob as well). Just had it washed and dried/straightened so it looked nice. Flowers would have looked a bit too frilly on me I think. Also it was quite windy here Friday so they would have blown away!

I have 2 Marriage certificates so I can get through it all more quickly. Not sure where to start though! I have changed my name at work, I have new business cards waiting for me when I get back .

The extra cost about £7 iirc.

TillyScoutsmum · 05/08/2008 15:06

CMOC - have family left now ? If so, full report please and pics if you're willing

SS - Might be worth calling your bank first, but should be able to go along with certificate and change it whilst you're there

Dropdeadfred · 05/08/2008 15:07

Hi All...I am back from sardinia...it was wonderful!!!

Now I have silly strap marks to cover up though

My veil arrived though from my old house!! Hurray!

callmeovercautious · 05/08/2008 15:11

DDF - great news about the veil. Don't worry about the strap marks I am sure the sun will shine tomorrow and you can top up the tan

IL leave later today so will try and do some pics later.
