Ooh - that's lovely - very princess like. Could you not get make up to cover up your tattoo (think its called dermablend - supposed to be very good). Or have a white/ivory dress with a blue shrug/wrap

Email is e 4 3 4 @ btinternet . com. Would love to see some of the ones you tried on

LoveMyGirls · 18/07/2008 18:51

I've emailed you TSM, I'm considering make up but ideally I want something that hides it totally so i'm not concious of it on the day, apparently you need to touch them up and they rub off on the material which is not good as I'm hoping to sell the dress afterwards if I can.

teafortwo · 18/07/2008 20:00

Lovemygirls - what a dress!!!!!

I am just wondering... where is your tattoo, when does it date from and what is it like?

A dear friend of mine is married to a man with snoopy on his right calf - oh how we laugh!!!!

LoveMyGirls · 18/07/2008 20:15

I had it done when I was 16 and it's on my chest (I wanted to cover a chicken pox scar - stupid me!) It's a black panther about3 inches long!

TillyScoutsmum · 18/07/2008 20:24

Have got the email and replied. Some lovely dresses on there and you look stunning... but, if it doesn't feel like "the one', then you obviously need to keep looking

OP posts:
teafortwo · 18/07/2008 20:34

aha aha aha!!!

When I was 16, along with a friend who lived over the road, I was quite keen on the idea of having ants tattooed on my feet??!!!??

Luckily I had a sensible Mum who said that it was a daft idea and suggested we got our ears pierced several times instead! Today I hate those little marks running up my ears... but I know I would have hated the ants a million times more!!!!

WOW - tsm the more you type on this thread the more I am impressed by your knowledge and undertanding of life!!!! Mariella Frostrup be careful - I think we have found the Observer's next agony aunt!!!!

TillyScoutsmum · 18/07/2008 20:36

LMG - Have you tried any Maggie Sottero dresses on ? They fit so well and they have some lovely ones (not with blue though necessarily)

lovely

bit of blue

quite high

not blue but different

love it but may be too different

Anyway - too many lovely ones to link. Have a look if you haven't already. There are a few shops in Midlands who stock them (where ish are you ?)

My mum said no too, she cried for a whole week, said it was like I'd been in a car crash and was scarred for life (have since had a breast reduction so really am scarred) but my dad took me to my cousins and she took me to have it done. My mum has never forgiven her.

LoveMyGirls · 18/07/2008 20:42

I've jsut emailed you again TSM, brb when I've looked at your links

LoveMyGirls · 18/07/2008 20:45

Thanks for helping me look, some of those quite lovely but a few too low and the last one reminds me of a duvet for some reason.

LoveMyGirls · 18/07/2008 20:46

what do you think of this one if it had blue flowers?

LoveMyGirls · 18/07/2008 20:47

And a lace up back? I've tried one on for £600

teafortwo · 18/07/2008 20:48

ha ha ha - My Granddad who is eighty-three turns into a giggling teenager when we talk about his tat "ooooh" he always laughs "You should have heard what my Mum said about it!!!" He was 16 too when he had it done!

Lovemygirls... I am going to stop talking tattoos now and flip flops (- I wanted you to know I got married in a pair!!!) because dh who turned up from work with a bunch of flowers for me ( "Why?" I asked "I can buy my wife flowers... can't I?" DH answered "aaawww ooooh" and some more girly screams followed from me at the word wife!) has also made me dinner - I think that is my que to get off of mn and spend some time with him.... don't you????!!!!????

LoveMyGirls · 18/07/2008 20:51

I would think so T4T but you promise you will come back and talk again really soon ok?

Dp is wanting me off here soon he's finished working and is now watching corrie on his own!

foxymolly · 19/07/2008 00:14

Hey everyone,

LMG -
I also have a tattoo which I regret getting, I have a sunset with a palm tree on my back at shoulder level. Its about 2 inches high. An ex boyfriend paid for me to have it when he was having one done, spur of the minute descion and I hate it. Luckily I'm wearing some sort of shrug to cover it.

T42 - What's your grandads tatoo and whats the story behind it?

Tilly - You are truly the font of all knowledge! Is that dermablend really good, I've been thinking of getting some of the body one but its quite expensive, if it works it would be worth it. I have a few scars I'd like to cover.
I love both your verses, have you made any descions about thme yet?

foxymolly · 19/07/2008 00:20

Thanks for your kind words about my mum.

TillyScoutsmum · 19/07/2008 08:58

T42 - hope you enjoyed some quality time with your husband last night... I clearly need to ramp up my mn time - I never get flowers

Foxy - the dermablend does work but is best where its not going to come into contact with any fabric because it can rub off onto it. Are they old scars ?? If they're newish (i.e still red and raised), the elastoplast scar reduction plasters are good - reduce redness and flatten

No decision on verses - don't need to decide until 6 weeks before so I'll leave it and speak to dp again then (by which point he'll hopefully have forgotten he said he didn't want any )

Just made an appt for this afternoon, did try again with one of the ones I'd previously tried but they couldn't fit me in (they upset me last time, I'd been engaged about 2 weeks, was very excited, went in only to be told unless i'd booked the church and had at least £600 to spend I wasn't going to be able to try anything on it's been a few months so I thought sod it i'm being childish I'll phone and get an appt, the church is booked so should be fine...only to be told some staff are off so they can't fit me in today, I know saturdays are busy for dress shops but it was the last straw with this shop, maybe I'm being a bridezilla but if they're going to treat me like this before I've even tried a dress on what will they be like if I buy one and want to keep going back to try it on, I told the lady on the phone I was less than impressed and she offered me 30mins to try something on I said no thank you it's ok i'll try somewhere else)

TillyScoutsmum · 19/07/2008 12:19

Sounds like you're best off not bothering with them... Its obviously important to get the right dress but if you're not happy with the service in the shop, it'll be a nightmare.

Having said that (get off the bloody fence Tilly !), most dress shops are appointment only on Saturdays and I had to book two weeks in advance to get into mine but that's because they like to allocate plenty of time and give you their undivided attention. Better than being rushed I suppose ..

Oooh - have a look at 2041 on page 14 as well - presumably you could have a blue sash made instead of the available ones ?

OP posts:
teafortwo · 19/07/2008 13:12

tsm - that is just lmgs style!!! I bet she will love it!!! My sister bought her wedding dress from that company - she said they are cracking prices and stunning!!! Win win!!!

Foxy... My Granddad's tattoo was of a bird and it is on his arm. When I was a child he would go tweet tweet and move his arm up and down so it looked like it was flying.

I said it was a bird because... recently I asked him to show dd his bird - he looked a bit embarrassed and showed me - it is just a blob now because of old age his skin had changed and he is much thinner - we all had a laugh and my Dad said "How old were you when you got that done?" "16" he replied "My Mum went MAD!!!" He continued "OH YEAH KNOW... the things she said!!" Then he couldn't stop laughing and nor could my Dad!

According to all sources my Great Grandmother was a salt of the earth kind of woman and my Granddad in general was a complete tearaway who drove her bonkers!!! Shame she didn't have mn in those days - I think she could have used it well!!!!

TillyScoutsmum · 19/07/2008 14:09

Thanks T42 - I think its a stunning dress and LMG is young enough and slim enough ({envy] x 2) to do a proper "princess" dress justice. It also looks quite high at the front.

Hark at me getting all carried away

LoveMyGirls · 19/07/2008 17:54

thanks TSM!

It's so hard choosing the right dress, honestly I've only tried 2 dresses on today and I've come back totally drained (df has no idea how tiring it is!) Is it just me?

i tried one on today that's very similar to this

I can't go dress shopping for at least 3 weeks now, might go looking at cakes with my mum next saturday, I can take dd's and my mum with me. Dd1 (aged almost 9) isn't showing much interest in the wedding but she is interested in the cake because I've said we should get a family of 4 to go on the top of the cake rather than just me and df, she likes that idea.

I hope I can afford to get the tattoo lasered off by the time I'm old!

PanicPants · 19/07/2008 18:50

Lovemygirls - love the 1st blue dress you posted. Its so fairy tale!

Actually all the dresses are lovely, and once you've chosen (and paid for) a dress you see so many more beautiful ones!

Wel, a week to go now, and dp has a stinking cold, sneezing like mad, runny eyes, bright red nose etc. So I'm guessing that I'm bound to catch it and look like death warmed up on my wedding day and it will totally ruin the photos (Yes, I'm a pessimist!)

We are getting married in a beauiful 12th century CofE church. It's my local church just 2 minutes from where I live.

I think the only things left to do now are the favours, and decide on a first song. We can't agree to ANYTHING! Might have to let the DJ (who is a friend) decide for us. Unless you have any ideas?
