my dress is light gold so findng a matching veil colour is a night mare!

TillyScoutsmum · 17/07/2008 13:08

Ah - I didn't realise you were having it in the light gold. Just been back to the old thread to have a nosey again - its gorgeous. So - how's the gym going ? Have you had hair trial yet (and make up ?)

OP posts:
Dropdeadfred · 17/07/2008 13:19

I have been swiming every night TSM...I swam 44 lengths last night...my arms and legs felt like jelly when I was getting dried. Can't really see much change though...

I had my hair and makeup trial about a month ago...having it curled for the day and half up half down. What about you? have you had your trial?

oops ..

TillyScoutsmum · 17/07/2008 13:34

Wow ! Was that 88 lengths you did then ? . We've just ordered a wii fit - so hoping to get some exercise in on that (desperately hoping it won't sit in the corner, looking accusingly at me and covered in dust after 2 weeks)

No hair trial yet - wedding not until end of November so will probably have it in October. It needs to grow a bit first. Have booked the wedding date in with hairdresser though

As I was getting ready for the park dd climbed into my bed and fell asleep!!! Awww!!

So... tsm I live in a small town next to La Defense (Do you remember where this is??? Well if you stand at The arch de Triumph with your back towards Concorde straight ahead is The Arch d Triumph's modern sister The Grand Arch this is in La Defense). It technically is outside of Paris because it is beyond the city walls (there is no such thing as Greater Paris) but we are close enough to be on the metro line one which is handy for getting around the place!

Sounds like you had a wonderful penpal - What a great experience! Are you still in contact with her today? I have these lovely flashes of my dd having a Spanish penpal and spending fortnights in Barcelona!

I had a feeling when I was younger that I would one day live in Germany so I took German at school... whooooops!!!! Now I go to French classes once a week but my progress isn't as fast as I would like it to be. I spend my life smiling, nodding and pointing... but it is slowly coming along! Petit à petit!

teafortwo · 17/07/2008 14:22

By the way Foxy, big hug for you and your family because of your Mum's illness! I have a dear friend whose Mother suffered from the same thing. It is a tough one - wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy let alone someone as sweet as you Foxy!

TillyScoutsmum · 17/07/2008 14:41

Wow T42 - you're really central. Othis is about 12 km outside central Paris (couple of stops on train from Le Blanc Mesnil). I love love love love Paris. DP and I went there for our first weekend away together and were thinking of going back for honeymoon. I'm not still in touch with penpal unfortunately.. We lost touch not long after I got back after the long stay (maybe 5 months was a bit too long )

Ooh - forgot to post the readings (think I may have posted one of them before... so apologies if I have)

First oneMaybe

'Maybe...We are supposed to meet the wrong people before meeting the right one so that, when we finally meet the right person, we will know how to be grateful for that gift

Maybe...it is true that we don't know what we have got until we lose it, but it is also true that we don't know what we have been missing until it arrives.

Maybe...the happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.

Maybe...the best kind of love is the kind you can sit on a sofa together and never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've ever had

Maybe...you shouldn't go for looks; they can deceive. Don't go for wealth; even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile, because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright. Find the one that makes your heart smile.

Maybe...you should hope for enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, and enough hope to make you happy.

Maybe... Love is not about finding the perfect person, it's about learning to see an imperfect person perfectly.'

Another one - not really a reading as such, but I think its sweet"What does love mean?"

There was once a contest to find the most caring child. The winner was a four-year-old boy whose next door neighbour was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there. When his mother asked what he had said to the neighbour, the little boy said "Nothing, I just helped him cry."

The question "What does love mean?" was posed to a group of 4-8 year-olds.

The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined, see what you think.

"When my grandmother got arthritis she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love." Rebecca aged 8.

"When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth." Billy aged 4.

"Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other." Carl aged 5.

"Love is what makes you smile when you're tired." Terri aged 4.

"Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen." Bobby aged 7.

"Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday." Noelle aged 7.

"Love is like a little old woman and a little old man, who are still friends even after they know each other so well." Tommy aged 6.

"Love is when mummy gives daddy the best piece of chicken." Elaine aged 5.

"Love is when mummy sees daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford." Chris aged 7.

"I know my older sister loves me, because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones." Lauren aged 4.

"When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you." Karen aged 7.

Oh yes, tsm - I remember you posting the first one before - but I had forgotten and it is so nice I really enjoyed reading it again!!!!

The second one is delicious!!!!! Could you put one of those quotes inside each of your little boxes or bags for the sugared almonds??? Could be like cracker jokes or fortune cookies everyone reading them out to each other and laughing!

I am going to send it to my sister - she might like to do that too...

stretchmarkqueen · 17/07/2008 16:05

I have just asked my dd (6) what she thinks love is. She says, "It's when you look after people." She then put her arm around her little sis (3) and gave her a cuddle!! [proud emotion] Now i want to hug her!!
Glad all of your wedding plans are going ok! Have got cake sorted now. I have 99 days until my wedding!! I am not at all bothered/excited/anxious/obsessed/boring everyone now/ about my wedding!! (((((BIG FAT LIE!!!)))))

PanicPants · 17/07/2008 19:58

at being the only one getting married in church!!

A gold veil sounds fab, such a shame it has been sent to the wrong address.

Well, we've got 9 days to go. I can't believe it. What wedding jobs should I have done by, and what should I be doing now? Help emoticon!

differentID · 17/07/2008 20:02

I married in church PP! It was glorious.
What do you still need to do?

teafortwo · 17/07/2008 20:20

Oooooh.... whoops - differentid I forgot you got married in a church!!! How could I!!! Sorry... I can't remember... Was yours a Catholic wedding?

differentID · 17/07/2008 20:34

Yes, it was the Wedding Service without the Nuptial Mass- DH is non baptised.

teafortwo · 17/07/2008 22:00

How lovely - I went to my first Catholic service a few weeks ago to watch my dh's Goddaughter have her first communion - I thought it would be a bit stiff and scary but it turned out to be really cool and nice looking and smelling! Lots of candles, pretty windows, incense burning, beautiful music and chanting in latin while everyone half listened to the priest and half gossiped with anyone around them and the children were climbing all over the place and the babies gurggling, crying and giggling and no frown from anyone! It felt really alive!

PP what kind of church wedding are you having?

stretchmarkqueen · 18/07/2008 10:06

Okay, I have 6 wedding invites here, with the ties, envelopes and everything, and a pack of the reply cards too, here
I also have the software to print out inserts on cd. I am not going to use them, and i can't bear to throw them out, such a waste!!!, so i wondered if anyone wants them, perhaps to practice on before buying the real thing IYSWIM??? I can post them.

Hi again everyone, decided not to go for any of the dresses I've seen so far so the search continues! Will be back in a bit need to tidy up a bit before dd2 wakes up!

TillyScoutsmum · 18/07/2008 13:41

Yay ! Come and show us some of the ones you tried on (if you know the designers and can link them) Are you still set on blue ?

Sarah - thanks for the offer on invites. I was thinking of going for the M&S ones and would have gladly had a few practice ones but think we're going for something else now. Bet you're glad they're all done though

OP posts:
LoveMyGirls · 18/07/2008 13:48

TSM if you have msn I can show you the pics on there? Still got my heart set on the blue and something high enough to totally cover my tattoo if possible.

TillyScoutsmum · 18/07/2008 13:50

I don't think I have msn (plays up on Apple Mac) - on Facebook though ?

Do you want white/ivory with blue or all blue ?

OP posts:
LoveMyGirls · 18/07/2008 14:04

I am on FB (password never works on it! so i gave up!) I can email you if you like?

I want white and blue but something simple with just a touch of blue, nothing too fussy.

I love this but it's obviously too blue and not high enough to cover my tattoo!

I really have to run now, I didn't tidy up, mindee woke then was collected but he woke dd2 up and I've had lunch...... so the place is still a mess and I need to go to the bank before school run then straight from there to a childrens party then straight to WW........busy life i lead y know

{lmg runs round tidying frantically while dd2 watches teletubbies
