Oi - don't blame me ... I bet your dp hates me at the moment

Sounds like you've got plenty of time to sort flowers etc. out when you're there. Just get a few pics together . Have a look at this website and it'll tell you which flowers are in season. If you can choose those (or ones a month either side), it'll be cheaper and easier for the florist to do with short notice. Things like roses though are easily obtainable all year round (despite being a "summer" flower).

PP - your dress looks gorgeous - I know what you mean about pics though - I think Alfred Angelo is particularly bad - my best mate got married earlier this year and had an AA dress - she showed me the pic before and I was underwhelmed but when she took me with her to try it on it was bloody stunning. I think they need a new photographer !

They all start off as a 'simple' wedding!

How romantic - really wished we had sone that. Dp is sat on the flooe as I type, sticking order of service books together.

I really don't know what we'll do with ourselves once the wedding is over - we'll have so much time on our hands

I will try to find a link to the bridesmaid dresses.

PanicPants · 16/07/2008 20:51

Clearly I am unable to type anymore as well

TillyScoutsmum · 16/07/2008 20:54

Ah - its "wedding brain" Like baby brain but ten times worse

OP posts:
PanicPants · 16/07/2008 20:57

This is close to the childrens dresses, except the skirt is pink and not ivory, but the style is the same (but cheaper too!)

dresses

TillyScoutsmum · 16/07/2008 20:57

Foxy - music I think we're pretty much sorting. Still not certain what to walk back up the aisle after the ceremony to. Got a few in mind. Why can't you choose yours ?

Readings - I'll put the two up I like. Might have both or just one (or none if DP gets his way).

Flowers - went to see florist two weeks ago and am still waiting for a quote Think she may have forgotten about me but I don't like chasing

Dp's outfit - still debating He wants to wear one of the suits he's got (lovely suits but he's worn them to work etc.). He;s also adamant he doesn't want to wear a tie or waistcoat. I'm working on it.....

PP - are you all sorted with readings/music etc ?

OP posts:
TillyScoutsmum · 16/07/2008 20:58

PP - dress is very cute ... Have you got a dd (or ds) or both ?

OP posts:
PanicPants · 16/07/2008 21:01

lol at wedding brain.

So foxymolly, when/how will tell your parents? (being nosey now!) And how do you think they'll take it?

PanicPants · 16/07/2008 21:08

Music is all sorted, I had a chat with the organist at the church, and completely went with his suggestions. Traditional wedding March in, the choir will sing during the signing of the register, and then bridal march out (or the other way round - can't remember now!).

We are having 'All things bright and beautiful' and 'Father I place into your hands' as our hymns.

My friend is going to do the reading which is The Wedding at Cana.

teafortwo · 16/07/2008 21:46

Bonsoir tsm comment ca va, mon amie?

Panicpants... I think you are the only one here getting married/got married infront of God!!!

Your dress is the same shape as everyone elses, well apart from mine because I didn't wear a wedding dress!!! Everyone else on this thread wore or is going to wear a dress that is tight at the top, no straps and has a big skirt then each dress like each mner has its own special side - different colour, pattern, sewn on bits etc. Funny hey??? My sister is getting married and her dress is your shape too. Well, I suppose you can't argue with good taste!!!

Hey Foxy - I am interested too - how do you plan to tell your and your dps parents about the marriage????

TillyScoutsmum · 16/07/2008 21:53

Ca va bien merci madam

Yeah - Foxy - spill

OP posts:
teafortwo · 16/07/2008 22:04

Hey, I am so glad pp liked the satin too!!! It gives me a boost of confidence for my taste in clothes.

I am also on another thread telling a lady it is ok to wear city shorts to a wedding (my general arguement is Kate Moss did it so why can't she?) - what do you think? Would you mind if one of your guests wore shorts?

foxymolly · 16/07/2008 22:43

I wouldn't mind T42, I'd just be that she had the figure to get away with city shorts!

I am demanding translations for all this french talk, I'm ok with Ca Va and merci but I fear soon it will be above my head!

When we got the details through from the registry office it said they sorted out the music, and I'd spent a whole day going through my CD's as well!

We haven't really got a plan for telling parents/family. They'll know as soon as they see us anyway because neither of us normally wear rings so it will be dead obvious!
My mum has dementia so she'll forget as soon as I've told her anyway, the rest of my family will be ok and really pleased when they've gotten over the shock.
MIL, is a different matter altogher and she may never forgive me

Tilly - My dp is actually very impressed you got me into a wedding dress. Would love to see your readings and keep working on dp - the least he can do is buy a new suit after all the effort your putting in.
Thanks for posting that link, there are hundreds (slight exageration!) of flowers in season in September, how am I meant to choose!

teafortwo · 16/07/2008 23:14

You are so so brave foxy!!!! I was worried about the face to face thing incase people got huffy!!!

My original plan was to send everyone a wrapped one pound copy of Jane Eyre with "Want to know a secret" on the gift tag and the page that says "Reader I married him" dog-eared and this line high-lighted then a picture of our wedding stuck on the back page.

I told my Mum because we needed to stay at hers for 8 days to get our certificate to say we could get married. She said she thought people would want to have some sort of gathering.

So then we changed it to a card with "We got married!" on the front and an invitation to a party to celebrate on the back.

Then my Uncle booked to go on holiday on the day we were planning the party, in August, so this idea had to be scrapped and any gatherings were going to have to be straight after the wedding to fit in with our holidays.

So... lastly I wrote a letter to all my friends and family telling them how much I love them and why? That dp and I are not the kind of people who like a fuss or like formalities so we are going to quietly get married and lastly would they be kind enough to celebrate by... having a bbq with us, taking your dog for a walk, going to a restaurant with you, taking you out to tea etc etc... everyone was delighted and we got to have our quiet wedding!!!

Foxy - I noticed September has my favourite flowers and I think that they might suit your wedding - sweetpeas. When I grow up I want a garden filled with sweetpeas!!!

foxymolly · 16/07/2008 23:55

I love your idea of sending everyone copies of Jayne Eyre - Very cryptic

The fact you are still celebrating your wedding is fanastic, when are you off on holiday with your friend?

Tilly also suggested sweetpeas ages ago and with both of you suggesting them they must be really nice! I'll have to go to a florists and take a look at them

LOL @ when I grow up - Your a married lady now T42!

foxymolly · 17/07/2008 00:00

From the website Tilly posted:

Sweetpeas: 'Wonderful colours and scents, short lived but stunning en masse and well worth it.'

They sound perfect

TillyScoutsmum · 17/07/2008 09:31

I love sweet peas - they always remind me of my Grandad (he was champion sweet pea grower and I always used to help him pick them in the summer and could always keep a posy for myself. I used to pretend I was a bridesmaid . I've still never been one )

T42 - I' d have no problem with city shorts. Tbh - I'm not fussed what anyone wears - as long as everyone has a great time, I don't care. I don;t understand all this don't wear black, don't wear white blah blah blah. See - I'm not a bridezilla really am I ??

OP posts:
TillyScoutsmum · 17/07/2008 09:34

Meant to say Foxy - sorry about your mum. Must be really hard for everyone

OP posts:
TillyScoutsmum · 17/07/2008 09:44

Bonjour T42 - J'espère que votre fillette sent mieux ce matin

Ooooh - am liking this French lark. I lived there for a little while after my A Levels and I only get chance to practice now on hols (or at my in laws because they both have lessons as well) How long have you been going T42 ? Is it just something you fancy doing or is it for a specific reason ?

Thanks for all you help with my shrug dilemma. Think I'll go for ivory satin (although the dress shop hire the fur ones for no much money so I might hire one and have a few pics taken outside with it on)

Hi TSM..thanks for kicking my arse back here..I had lost the thread somehow.

Well...plans are definitely coning along fast now...I'm getting quite scared about how fast the days are goin in fact..and we are going on holiday on the 27th util the 3rd..then wedding on the 9th!!!

I am cross cos I bought a veil the other day and paid via paypal...for some reason my old address was still coming up a default postal address so t has been sent there...and now I doubt I will get it in time...

teafortwo · 17/07/2008 11:18

sorry about your veil ddf!!!!

Foxy the dinner with work friends is in September and I am going away with my friend in October so this whole wedding day is turning into a wedding 4 months!!!!

TSM - Where in France did you live? The reason I am trying to learn French is I live just outside Paris so need it for general living!

ddf... sorry about the veil!

My dd stopped being sick yesterday - hurray so we are going to a park thi afternoon!

Bye - good luck with the wedding plans!!!

teafortwo · 17/07/2008 11:21

Ha ha ha - see how sorry I was about the veil - mentioned it twice and spelt this with no s!!!!! What a messy post!

Ok I am really going now - bye!!!

Dropdeadfred · 17/07/2008 11:28

Thank you for being sorry twce TF2...

TillyScoutsmum · 17/07/2008 11:36

DDF - the veil is a bummer. Did you live far away ? Any chance you can contact the new owners or will it forward by Royal Mail. Glad to see you back . Where are you off on hols ? Will you have a nice tan with your dress ?

T42 - I lived just outside Paris as well (Othis)... only very briefly. I did French A Level (and GCSE) and had a penpal and from the age of 12, I used to spend 2 weeks with her in France (and she came to UK for 2 weeks), then when I finished A Levels, I went and stayed with her for 5 months. It was brilliant. I'm very of you. Whereabouts are you ?

OP posts:
Dropdeadfred · 17/07/2008 11:41

We are going to sardinia...hopefully will get a bit of a tan...but don't want strap marks etc....

I will try and contact the new owners but think they will have just refused the delivery..
