oohh thats brave of you Tilly!

Really like the second one, do you think that would look ok a big girl? First one is a bit flowery and the third one scares me .. looks very clingy!

TillyScoutsmum · 09/07/2008 20:22

I think the second one would look fab - again with a shrug if you want to cover up or need to wear a proper bra. Spanx are brill as well for holding you all in - I'm wearing them cos even though I've lost weight, because its been quite quickly, things are still a bit flabby (gross eh ?). Poor dp's going to have to be very dexterous to get anywhere near me on the wedding night. If he manages to undo the corset on the dress, he's got to get past my spanx

OP posts:
Foxymolly · 09/07/2008 20:25

LOL! Your poor dp, esp. if he's had a few drinks!

I've got a spanx thingy Tilly, just hope I don't forget to pack it - I'll be in tears!
Is your corset part of the dress? I was thinking of buying a dress that had a boned bodice but I didn't know if it would work?

TillyScoutsmum · 09/07/2008 20:31

Yes it is - tbh, I was originally going for something similar to you (a cocktail/evening dress type thing). Then I started looking at bridesmaid dresses and then I made the mistake of trying on a wedding dress. The boned corset and full skirt just did so much more for my figure. All the others I tried on felt a bit ...meh... but as soon as I tried the wedding dress on, I actually felt special (pass the bucket.)

Is a wedding dress a no because its just OTT for the sort of day you're having ? Or is it a cost thing ? Or both ?

OP posts:
Foxymolly · 09/07/2008 20:48

cost more than anything.

If I was to have one I would want a simple one, not extravagent.
Mmmmm .. You've got me thinking now Tilly, hadn't considered a proper wedding dress but if it makes me look better then I definatly consider it.

But then its the cost so I dont know

TillyScoutsmum · 09/07/2008 20:57

Right - leave it with me

My wedding expert!

TillyScoutsmum · 09/07/2008 21:05

OK - check out ASAPBAY/LANDY on ebay. Its a company based in China who make wedding dresses which are based on designer gowns. You obviously can pick your style, size, colour (if you fancied red for example). Really good prices. Obviously the quality isn't going to be the same as the original dresses but I know a lot of ladies on a wedding website who have ordered them and they are pleased.

Something like this ?

OP posts:
Foxymolly · 09/07/2008 21:06

Yes, exactly like that!

Foxymolly · 09/07/2008 21:10

Will check it out tomorrow Tilly, thank you for that.

Got to go and help dp make his dinner .. he's been out and is useless in the kitchen!

Thank you Tilly, speak soon!

TillyScoutsmum · 09/07/2008 21:12

lovely Quite full skirt but I found the fuller skirts balanced me out more and gave me a waist

Ive put it on ebay before but theres sooooo many on there it hasn't sold!

Its size 14, a Madeline Gardner dress,

I don't want anything near what I paid for it, just want it to go to a good home and be worn again because its just beautiful!

Baby - have a fantastic day.. Enjoy your fake tan (and any other pampering you're having). Can't wait to see pics and hear how everything went.

Litterbug - I think lots of us have got dresses but some still haven't. Madeline Gardner dresses are lovely

Foxy... what about this...www.next.co.uk/shot.asp?b=G33&p=16&s=1&n=Women&pid=418-111-G33&extra=sch&exclude=00A00&ref=http%3a%2 f%2fsearch%2enext%2eco%2euk%2fsearch%3fp%3dQ%26ts%3dv3%26w%3dPRINTED%20SUNDRESS%26srid%3dS5%2d1%26lb c%3dnext%26af%3d%26cnt%3d%26images%3don%26srt%3d%26isort%3dscore%26method%3dand%26format%3d%26nb%3d% 26np%3d

teafortwo · 09/07/2008 22:58

? - Sorry after that massive link I forgot the question mark!!!!!!

Foxymolly · 10/07/2008 00:05

That is a really pretty dress, T42, gorgeous in fact. I'm thinking about going for something boned now though, that will hold me in. If I was slimmer I would definitely buy that dress.

Tilly, I agree about the fuller skirt, that second dress is beautiful. Its quite bear up top though, can you wear a bolero/shrug with a wedding dress?
I've checked out that seller and eBay and ...wow! There are so many dresses and most of them are stunning, how do you choose?
Really good prices as well. I'm kinda stumped looking at them at the moment though because all the ones I like are bare up top and I'm not sure if a bolero type thing will look odd, I really am useless!

SS and BIAC - Its offically your wedding eve now!

Foxymolly · 10/07/2008 00:06

I meant I've checked out that seller on ebay

TillyScoutsmum · 10/07/2008 09:01

Foxy - you can wear a bolero with a wedding dress - I am. I think I'm going for a faux fur one. Lace looks nice on some dresses or a satin one. There's lots of them about . Lots of examples of different boleros here

As for knowing what to go for, I would try and get to a wedding dress shop and try some on. You'll get an idea of what suits you and flatters you and then you can order something in a similar style. Generally, I think something with a corsetted bodice and a fuller skirt look great. Something quite plain without too much detail.

Happy Wedding Eve Baby and SS

OP posts:
TillyScoutsmum · 10/07/2008 09:17

Foxy - I reckon something like this would be really flattering here

OP posts:
TillyScoutsmum · 10/07/2008 09:26

this one is lovely as well

Tbh - if you're going to go for a wedding dress, you need to move quickly. I think this supplier takes up to 30 days to make and then another 10-15 days for shipping. You'd need to be ordering, probably by the end of next week to be on the safe side. Btw - wedding dresses from shops can be around 20 weeks

OP posts:
TillyScoutsmum · 10/07/2008 09:51

Sorry to bombard you Foxy - but this website is great for lace boleros here

If you order from Asapbay and have a full skirt, you'll need to get a petticoat/hoop to push the skirt out. You can buy them online or you can hire them from wedding dress shops. You'll also need to allow time for the dress to be steamed cos they arrive quite creased (either professionally at dry cleaners or by hanging in steamy bathroom for a while). You'll probably also need to get a local dressmaker on standby to make any alterations

Have just shown DP the website on ebay and he is gutted I have already paid a deposit on my dress. They are such a bargain !

teafortwo · 10/07/2008 10:10

Foxy... do you really want something boned or is this your underconfident side slipping out again??? - Don't forget we know you now!!!

I am really confused who is getting married today and/or tomorrow??? So good luck to all who are getting married in the next few days!!! And send pics so we can ooooh and aaaarrrr!!!

We are off to a farm today - nice! So I will wait until tonight to post some more dresses - I have noticed a few borderline brides dresses this style is very trendy in Paris at the moment and I think you might like that style Foxy - I will put them on tonight...

SmallShips · 10/07/2008 10:17

Biac - Have a fab day and honeymoon, cant wait to see your pics!! Praying for sunshine!
