How old is she, CD? My friend with frighteningly intelligent daughters used to find all of them would hold on, and then go behind the sofa when her back was turned, at about 3. (Not nice but possibly comforting thought for you )

Gobbledigook · 08/08/2005 23:39

Oh JanH - so I'm not SUCH a bad mummy after all?

Doing ok here so far. Ds has pants on and has sat on the tiolet 3 times, hasn't actually done anything yet though.

When we tried last week he did ok for the first 2 days, doing several wees and poos on the loo but then it went downhill.

nutcracker · 09/08/2005 08:32

Oh and regarding the bribing, so far Ds has £1.10 for doing anything on the loo.

He loves getting pence as he calls it, so thats what i've been bribing him with.

triceratops · 09/08/2005 08:43

ds has been out of nappies for a year and is nearly four but asks for a nappy every two days to do a poo. He point blank refuses to use the loo but will do it on the floor if there is no nappy available (he likes to crap standing up). I have been letting him get away with it because I am lazy but I really need to take some action now. Last time I tried with bribery it did work but I ran out of chocolate and relapsed. I am ashamed of myself really.

Lonelymum · 09/08/2005 08:44

Lonelymumis backing out for another day (possibly might get GDG off the hook) as need to drive into Bristol this monring (longish way). Surely even Coddy wouldn't start now?

One enormous wee on the loo just.

nutcracker · 09/08/2005 08:45

Have to pop to the shops in a bit, do I put him in a nappy ?

flashingnose · 09/08/2005 08:47

LM, is this one your last?

I'm looking forward to the day where I can swing out of the house with nothing but three children and a teeny weeny handbag....nearly there.

Lonelymum · 09/08/2005 08:49

flashingnose - YES! I can't really believe I might be only 2 weeks away from a nappy free existence after more than nine years of changing nappies.

Lonelymum · 09/08/2005 08:51

But I have to confess, I have been leaving the house with kids and only a small handbag for years now - I stopped taking half the contents of the baby's drawers after ds2. Now I don't even carry nappies usually as ds3 only has two daytime changes at most and I am not usually out all day.

flashingnose · 09/08/2005 08:52

I saw a friend last week whose youngest is 8 and she never has to think about any poo or wee apart from her own - how joyful is that??

Lonelymum · 09/08/2005 08:52

Mindblowing!

Oh I don't have a problem with bribery, it's using sweets that I find rather repellant. Stickers with a big prize at the end worked extremely well for us.

oliveoil · 09/08/2005 10:11

I didn't need bribes for my dd, she was a natural . Couple of days wiping up pee (no clothes, naked cute botty aahhhhhhhhh) and then sorted. Used pull-ups when out and about, had dd2 as well, no way was I dealing with accidents in the middle of Asda with 2.

One tip I used was I sat her on the potty when I was hanging washing up and said 'whose pants are these? whose top is this? etc ad nauseam and she sat there quite happily. Sent me mad however.
