sounds like it still is

My ds seems to know he needs a poo more than a wee, we seem to be getting most of the poo's in the toilet, but wee's only successful if he is naked from the waist down

Enid · 26/08/2005 10:10

got home from work yesterday to find that dd2 had done 2 poos on the loo, announced that she didnt want a potty any more and now does all her wees and poos on the loo.

she also doesnt want to wear a nappy at night (wasnt quite planning on that yet!)

Lonelymum · 02/09/2005 17:17

Hey what has happened to this thread? It has died! How are you all going? Anyone no longer consider themselves potty training?

Well, we have been away for a fortnight. Ds3 is now much much better, but still very much in the learning stage. He has wees pretty much licked (ugh, dreadful allusion that!) but still wets when excited, upset, distracted. Poos are less good although even Lonelymum's baby has had some success. Loads of poos deposited on a certain Cornish beach though!

Been home 2 hours and he has already had one accident (wee) and three wees in potty.

Oh and one night in the holiday, dh forgot to put a nappy on ds3 and he only wet the bed when he woke up in the morning! Impressive eh!

nutcracker · 02/09/2005 17:28

Well i think we are all done here (will jinx it now won't i?)

No accidents in day for ages and dry pull ups in the morning too so hopefully thats it.

muminlondon · 02/09/2005 17:34

I don't want to speak too soon - dd's been at it for 3 weeks and is not bad, quite a few dry days, and has asked for the potty a few times. But she does sometimes resist being told when to go and still has accidents. She is also making full use of nappies worn during naps and night-time.

Lonelymum · 02/09/2005 17:39

Well done Nutty (that really will jinx it now!) Your little boy always did seem a few steps ahead of the others though! About a week ago when ds3 started doing the odd poo in potty and had his nappy free night and only wet in the morning, I did think of you and thought ds3 was getting to the stage you had been at a few weeks back, but there haven't been any poo successes since, so I am not sure where I am now.

Lonelymum · 02/09/2005 17:41

Well done Muminlondon too. I am hoping that now we are home and school and routines are about to start again, I will really get on top of the whole thing. I do think I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

nutcracker · 02/09/2005 17:47

How old is your Ds though Lonelymum ??

Harry is 3 in december so I think he was the eldest out of all of us trying. A couple of months ago I wouldn't have had the same result because he just wasn't interested.

Lonelymum · 02/09/2005 17:53

Mine is 3 next February. Yeah, he is younger than I would have preferred, but he starts playgroup the week after next, so I had to train him early. But I have to say, he is taking to it slower than my others who were all nearer 3 when I trained them.

Enid · 02/09/2005 18:22

dd2 is 2.10 and got it in 4 days [proud]

she was soooooo ready though

Lonelymum · 02/09/2005 19:18

And how is it going for the little fish?

purpleturtle · 02/09/2005 19:21

Well, we did have a bit of poo in pants today, but we were out and about doing stuff the whole time. He didn't even mention it, so I'm not sure he was aware!

Considering we moved house a fortnight ago, and now live with grandparents (very temporarily, I hasten to add!) he has done brilliantly. If only I could persuade him that he doesn't have to empty the potty...

katzguk · 02/09/2005 19:23

purpleturtle - hello

Lonelymum · 02/09/2005 19:26

PT, my little ray of sunshine did that the other day. I was sitting on the loo and he came to show me his wee in the potty and tipped it over my foot!

going4potty · 02/09/2005 20:32

Hello new to this, need advice. Have been potty training for 9 days. DS back at nursery. 2 accidents today, mainly cause did not want to be thre after long break. But still cannot manage to do poo in either potty or toilet, help

Lonelymum · 02/09/2005 20:33

Going4potty, hello and join the club. It is very helpful to have some fellow sufferers to share your woes with (and successes!) How old is ds and how have you gone about it already?

going4potty · 02/09/2005 20:51

HI LM , ds is 34months (blush) and i have used the gina ford and apparently cod method. nag themand take them. Bit worried as have family engagment to attend tomorrow and dh is working, just dont know if i can deal with poo poo pants , while wearing a nice outfit and trying to make polite conversation.

Lonelymum · 02/09/2005 20:58

Well, I am quite close to Cod in method, but if tomorrow is very important to you, then I would say bung a nappy on him and enjoy your day. Don't worry about his age. Mine were about 35 months, 33 months, 37 months and now my youngest is 30 months and being potty trained. The later you do it, the quicker they seem to pick it up IMO. I know a lot of people say don't put a nappy back on them once you start training, but I have always done it for certain reasons (eg today, we had a three hour journey to make so ds3 wore a nappy for that). It doesn't stop your ds from asking for a potty if he is so inclined. My ds3 wears a nappy at night and keeps it on when he first wakes up but often (lately) has been taking the nappy off to wee in the potty. The only thing I find is that sometimes, when he has been wearing a nappy, when it first comes off, he forgets and wets himself. Today, after our journey, his first wee was on the ground (luckily outside) but then he did 4 wees in the potty and one in the loo (his request) before bedtime.

Do you try rewarding him for success? I am shameless. It is one chocolate button for a wee and 2 for a poo and ds3 knows that and rarely forgets to ask for them!

I am not far behind you Cod! Or rather, ds3 isn't far behind your ds2!

going4potty · 02/09/2005 21:03

I do reward him, a sticker and i smartie for anything he does in potty. but i will try the two treats for a poo, he does love his treats as he calls them. thanks
